With that said I admit I would feel weird getting blood if I knew it came from a gay man. I would probably feel pretty weird about receiving blood from a Muslim, atheist or Hindu, etc.

Raises the question...should we know certain information about the blood we are about to receive? Their religion, sexuality, other views? Or would this just create a giant mess that would delay blood getting to people and costing lives.

I'm entirely in favour of injured Raptards having the right have details of their blood donors, so it doesn't offend their delicate sensibilities.

I wonder how many of them bleeding out it would take before they realise that they're being thicker than ten pairs of policemens boots.

Well, if you lot start Darwinning yourselves if you need a transfusion because you're nasty little asshats, I can only see that as being a good thing.

Sorry, but there's no way to find out if the blood you're about to be given comes from one of those evil heathens. Better refuse it, just to be on the safe side...

What if you were in a terrible accident and only a blood transfusion would save you, but the only blood they had in the hospital came from a gay atheist?

It would cause a huge mess for something unimportant. Atheist blood is the same as theist blood...it's just blood, it might be the thing that is about to save your life. You know that it would cause a huge mess but want to make a big deal out of it while you don't need it. But when the time comes you will be saying give it to me.

With that said I admit I would feel weird getting blood if I knew it came from a gay man.

Dying of blood loss would feel much weirder. And much less pleasant.

I would probably feel pretty weird about receiving blood from a Muslim, atheist or Hindu, etc.

If you're dying, then I guarantee that the last thing you're going to care about is if some of the blood you're receiving came from a man who has a shrine to Ganesha.

Raises the question...should we know certain information about the blood we are about to receive? Their religion, sexuality, other views?

No.

Or would this just create a giant mess that would delay blood getting to people and costing lives.

Yes, because the time it would take to get your permission to give you blood from a gay Muslim could possibly mean your death. It honestly isn't worth it.

If you look at the OP this is probably the most reasonable quote in the whole thread. Not that that's saying much from RR, but still.

How would you feel getting blood from an Ay-rab? or a filthy jew? or heaven forbid, a "darkie"?

Isn't his position nothing less than barely concealed racism...?

Okay. I might understand being afraid to take blood from a homosexual (if you buy into the stupidity that all gays have AIDS). But what in the world would you have to fear from taking blood from someone whose only difference is their religious beliefs? You do realize that religion is not transmitted through blood, right?

There's an easy solution for you: become a Jehovah's Witness. They don't believe in transfusions at all.

The latter. Definitely the latter.

Seriously? The only things that matter about blood are the type and whether it's infected with something. Those two aspects are completely unaffected by race, religion, sexuality, etc.

Phew, what a relief.

Started out pretty damn stupid, but got there in the end.

Yes. Because what people believe will affect their physical constituents including, obviously, their blood. We already know that belief can affect the brain, can cause prodigious spittle production, can greatly increase supplies of dribble, and ensure massive reservoirs of drool, so why can't it change the nature of blood, causing it to be ungodly, type G negative?

Yes, it would. It would also create a black hole of dumb from which we might never escape.

Wow. There may be hope for you.

For the rest of you RR folks, I propose a solution. If you need it, you will be given blood from whatever source is available. If you later object to that source, we will remove it. We will have to make sure we get it all out, though.

You need to be sure you get blood from someone just like yourself. I have switched genders three times and religions twice because of blood transfusions, so be careful.

I would say make sure you don't get any nigger blood because you might get a tan.

You might consider using gorilla blood, maybe your intelligence will increase.

"If accepting blood from gay men doesn't increase risks of STD transmission from receiving a blood transfusion why should we not accept their blood donations?"

This was the first half of that post, and the conclusion about the giant mess shows that lovelife has understood the issue.
OP only says they "feel feird" about it, and nobody asks for feelings to be reasonable.
Frankly, most of the other posts in that thread would have done a better FSTDT entry than that.

@mister spak:

with that said i admit i feel weird seeing the word "nigger". i find it's an incredibly offensive term, even when used ironically. i would feel pretty weird about receiving advice from a raptard, redneck, or people who use that term, etc

raises the question... should we make a big deal about semantics, wasting virtual hot air like lovelife here? things like gay blood, religions of donors, or semantics? or would this just create a giant mess that would delay proper conversation and ideas getting to people and costing time?

@Mister Spak

If you use racial slurs ironically, please put quote marks around said word.

"I would say make sure you don't get any 'nigger' blood because you might get a tan."

Fixed.
