Sweet Fancy Moses
"...why not encourage these kids to keep their sexual orientation to themselves until they're in a safer environment?"
They're trying to make schools a safer environment. It's people like you who are making that difficult.

Fuck your blame-the-victim bullshit.
It's not anyone's responsibility to act differently or hide who they are to appease you or anyone else. On the other hand, it's everyone's responsibility—including your own—to unconditionally treat others like people deserving of basic human dignity and respect, regardless of who or what they may be, if for no other reason than such social niceties are required by a civilized society with freedom of expression that allows them to speak their own minds and be themselves. Personally, though, I primarily treat others with dignity and respect because I feel tremendous empathy in my heart toward all of my fellow humans, and my conscience tells me that it is the right thing to do.
It doesn't matter whether a hate-crime victim was the queerest queer who ever queered, or whether someone had the "gall" to tell that person that it was okay to always be themselves without fear or shame. The guilt for that individual's death lies solely in the hands of the person who killed him and in the culture that taught said person to believe that differences are shameful and are something that ought to be kept hidden in the company of the "normal" majority. Furthermore, such an oppressive culture of shame, blind conformity, and fear is not only deadly, but it is also inherently detrimental and even antithetical to a free society, as is the gross lack of personal responsibility exhibited by the shifting of blame to victims.
In other words, Dr. Brown, you have blood on your hands.
9/13/2011 3:30:39 AM
'Dr' Michael L Brown - what a cunt.
9/13/2011 3:35:34 AM
This type of pretend concern enrages me even more than open hate speech. At least morons who scream "god hates fags" are honest. Scum who sugar coat their vileness are both hypocrites and murderers by proxy.
9/13/2011 3:37:57 AM
Why not encourage the rationally challenged to keep their thoughts to themselves until they're in a safer environment; i.e. any
cult religious building?

Ken's Cell Hates Homophobes
Or maybe we could teach children not to be homophobic little shits. If a kid wants to express himself in a manner outside the norm, that is his right. It's not the smartest thing to do in Jesusland, but Lawrence had guts. The homophobes who bullied him (or any gay child) need a good smack and the boy who killed him deserves much more. And before anything escalates, younger kids DO need to be presented with images of homosexuality as normal. Sorry, dumbass whiny conservative parents. If I have to choose between saving the lives of children and caving to your desire to turn your child into a baby bigot, I'm going to have to choose saving lives.

That kind of crap always reminds me of this...
"[T]hey bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let 'em crash." [Airplane, 1980]
9/13/2011 4:24:12 AM
I thought you people were against coddling criminals and blaming victims, or is that yet another immutable dogma that you can turn on a dime?
9/13/2011 4:25:58 AM
"After all, it is gay activists who constantly remind us that LGBT kids are bullied and even beaten up at school"
And it's christian activists who oppose anti bullying programs so beating up can continue.
"If our schools really are so "homophobic" and dangerous, why not encourage these kids to keep their sexual orientation to themselves until they're in a safer environment?"
Where's that? A christian workplace where christian adults bully gay adults? A christian America where christian legislators require gay adults to wear pink triangles?
"If there is any truth to this,"
Since the claim comes from a christian activist, there probably isn't.
It is true that Brandon McInerney murdered Larry King in cold blood, but christian activism is making excuses to justify it.
9/13/2011 4:36:07 AM
Think or GTFO
"why not encourage these kids to keep their sexual orientation to themselves until they're in a safer environment?"
That goes for straights too of course.
9/13/2011 4:46:18 AM
Those damn gay activists! What a delusional idiot.
9/13/2011 5:03:10 AM
This is the same argument rape apologists use only instead of bitching about women not being modest enough, you're bitching about gays being too gay. Gay bullying apologists are every bit as sick and twisted as rape apologists.
9/13/2011 5:48:42 AM
So basically what you're saying is, "Get the fuck back in the closet or we'll beat the shit out of you." How nice. Claiming that kids being gay are forcing people to beat them up and kill them is not logical. That's like saying all those dang black people forced the KKK to lynch them because they had the audacity to show their dark skin in public.
I'd really like to know what you're a doctor of, if anything. You're certainly not a qualified psychologist.
9/13/2011 6:11:26 AM
Somehow, "Die in a fire" doesn't seem nearly strong enough...
9/13/2011 6:22:56 AM
Larry was 14 and had no "troubled history" you dick. He was a child figuring out who he was. His only "crime" was that he asked brandon to be his valentine. As a man who was beaten for being openly gay in school, I say FUCK YOU!! Words cannot describe how much I loathe you. Please suicide bomb yourself into the afa with bryan fischer.

"Brown graduated from Queens College in 1977 with a B. A. in Hebrew, and earned his M.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures in 1981 and his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages in Literature in 1985, both from New York University. His doctoral thesis was "I Am the Lord Your Healer": A Philological Study of the Root rapa' in the Hebrew Bible and the Ancient Near East."
Dr.? - Like Dr Dino it would seem! fuck off!
9/13/2011 6:32:45 AM
OK a bit more real than Dr Dino but still - fuck off!
9/13/2011 6:33:58 AM
Larry saying "I'm gay," is not flamboyant unless he does so loudly, obnoxiously, and repeatedly. Saying "I'm gay" is neither pushy or sexual--it is simply a statement of fact, not an invitation to sex.
Also, if adults in this country have rights, than an eighth-grader damn well better have rights! If a teenager cannot express himself, then we are saying that the First Amendment is meaningless and that the U.S. Constitution is a worthless piece of paper. Think about that.
9/13/2011 6:40:33 AM
You seriously are redefining the upper limits of assholedom.
9/13/2011 6:54:13 AM
You are the guilty one here. With your bullshit you are as guilty as the murderer himself. So, you are a MURDERER! And I bet you are very proud of it you stupid little piece of shit
9/13/2011 6:55:55 AM
Well, yeah. I mean, it's not like schools could prevent the bullying that goes on. Those being picked should change their ways, after all, bullies have a right to bully!
And yes, gay people should go into counseling so as to be given the placebo "cure" for their sexuality, and of course, to be given the compassionate "We love you, but hate who you are" message.
And of course, we should completely overlook Brandon's background of growing up with Nazi paraphenalia.
I never knew it took around eight years of study to become a murder apologist. So like, can you look in a mirror now or how does that work?
9/13/2011 6:57:03 AM
Admitting your gay is activism equal to murdering gay people, is that about the jist of your long winded rant?
9/13/2011 6:59:35 AM
I don't care what actions a person has taken, a civilian killing them for it isn't culturally acceptable any more.
The persons in the wrong here are you and the boy who's brain got so screwed up he though murdering a peer was a brilliant idea.
9/13/2011 7:11:23 AM
So, your idea is that the acts of pointing out injustice and violence are the causes of injustice and violence? You're a f*ckin' moron.
9/13/2011 7:19:35 AM
... and if the Unibomber had a better home life, maybe he wouldn't be a fucked-up murdering son of a bitch either.
Brandon is a murderer. It is doubtful he ever had contact with a gay activist. I could easily come up with a scenario wherein Dr. Brown is partly to blame for 9/11, because he supported dangerous government policies or failed to contribute somehow to the welfare of Afghanistan. Spreading the blame in this manner is bullshit. What about Brandon's parents? They might have worked a little harder on teaching their spawn boundaries. /rant
