Quote# 83864

If I, or someone else, was given blood that a gay person donated I would be very, very, angry. Then I would sue, because that's all they would understand.

There is a reason God decreed gay sex to be a SIN.

Walker, if you are OK getting gay blood, fine. I'm just saying the general population needs to be given the choice, before someone puts gay blood in their body. Kosher/nonkosher is a dietary thing. It will not kill a Jew, to get blood from me after I ate a bacon cheeseburger. I am monogomous with my husband; my blood is safe.

I'm a blood donor. So is my husband. So are most of my family. Most of my family has gotten blood; SAFE blood that came from people who did not engage in high-risk behavior.

I'm curious, if someone reading this is fine with the idea of getting gay blood, what about blood from an IV drug user? One you know shared needles with other injectable drug users.

Would you take gay blood?
Blood from a heroin addict?
Blood from someone who sold their body for "money or drugs"?

Right now, none of them can donate. IMO, it needs to STAY that way.

So, if I were to get a total blood transfusion from the gayest gay people ever, twelve times a week, for ten years, would I turn gay? No. My hormones might be a bit off and I might turn all pale and start sparkling in sunlight, but I most certainly wouldn't turn gay. That just wouldn't happen.

Just in case you didn't get it, scientists have surgically conjoined the circulatory systems of mice together, one with an obesity factor and a normal mouse. The horrifically obese mouse became skinnier and the normal mouse stayed the same because the normal mouse produced Leptin for the both of them. So even something as drastic as FAT in the blood can be counteracted easily by a normal system. "Gay things" probably aren't even present in the blood anyway, but even if they were your body would regulate them. Translation into english: GAY BLOOD CAN'T TURN YOU GAY.

Yes, let's segregate the "gay blood".

If this is the kind of person who will be in the Christian heaven, then I certainly don't want to go.

As others have said all blood is screened and gays don't have anymore AIDS than the general population.

But hell if it was a choice between death and tainted/diseased blood I'd still rather take it and live.

As a single heterosexual atheist man I donate blood regularly. I'd love it if there was someway I could ensure my blood wasn't used to prolong the lives of bigoted fuckwit Christian fundamentalists.

Oh, wait, no I wouldn't.

I don't care who gets my blood in the least. If you need it you can have it, be you Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, atheist, whatever.

I sometimes wonder if we should allow Acts5:41 ravings to be quoted here. She's apparently on some seriously heavy medication for her mental problems and as Mr Howard said "it's wicked to mock the afflicted". That said, she apparently spends her days inflicting her opinions upon others and perhaps as she sows so should she reap.

....BUT BLOOD CAN'T HAVE A SEXUAL ORIENTATION!!! :P

A thought occurs to me. By that logic, if you're a man and you get a transfusion from a straight woman, you'll turn gay, and if you're a straight woman who gets a transfusion from a straight man you'll turn lesbian.

Horrors!

I'm a blood donor. So is my husband. So are most of my family. Most of my family has gotten blood; SAFE blood that came from people who did not engage in high-risk behavior.

If your family includes children, then you've engaged in more high-risk sexual behavior than I have. I'm quite strict about using barrier methods for anything involving penetration, and I've never had a condom break. I've also been tested regularly, even during periods when I haven't been sexually active enough for it to be completely necessary; I promote STI testing for others, and I have an internship in a hospital, so I figure that I might as well go all-out and make completely sure.

In other words, as a blood donor I'd be a considerably lower risk than a heterosexual with any history of unprotected fluid-swapping. Yet guess which of the two of us has been permanently excluded from donating blood?

Yup, there's a reason; the men who invented God felt threatened by gay people.

Blood is not gay. Gay is a sexual thing. It will not make you gay to get blood from a gay girl after she had sex with her wife.
Would a lesbian become heterosexual after receiving blood from a heterosexual person?

You might be "monogomous", but are you certain that your husband is?
Being "monogomous" with your lesbian wife is also to not engage in high-risk behavior.
Lesbians have fewer STDs than heterosexuals.

It seems you do engage in high-risk behaviors; I have never gotten blood, I don't know of many that have, but most of your family have needed a refill for some reason or other.

The drugs are actually IN the blood, so no; I would not be OK with blood from a drug user.

Of course I would take blood from a gay donor, if she/he had passed all the tests that every blood donor has to pass.
A heroin addict would not pass the tests to become a donor.
To some people, becoming a wife to a rich man is to sell your body for "money or drugs". Should Hollywood Wives not be able to donate blood, perhaps?

Sadly I can't give blood as I'm on medication for epilepsy.
If they could put information about ibuprofen on the blood bag, couldn't they put information about my medication too?
Nah, it wouldn't work, few people are on the same medication, and you need to step up to my dosage over four weeks.

Or into a woman. You never know.

Most people don't object to gays donating. I see no reason blood banks should cater to a crazy and tiny minority.

Would you take gay blood? What about blood from someone who committed (gasp!) insurance fraud?

Better play it safe. Since blood isn't labeled for sexual orientation, just assume all blood is gay blood, or insurance fraud blood, and don't accept any transfusions, even if... no, especially if your life depends on it.

9/17/2011 11:53:19 AM

If I'm ever in a position to need a blood transfusion, I doubt very much I'll care where it's from. Besides, it's in the hospital's /blood bank's best interests to make sure it's safe. Someone dies from tainted blood, you can be sure their family's going to sue.

Like I said about the last Ruptured Retard that said this: feel free to die if you don't want a gay person's blood. That just means more for the rest of us.

the idea of getting gay blood

Conservative fundie christian doublethink.

If these people share the standard fundie belief, i.e. that being gay is a deliberate life style choice and not a natural phenomenon, then how can there be something such as "gay blood"? That's absurd, even from their viewpoint.

This shows once again how being conservative leads to fundamentalism and not the other way around.

What would happen if I got some fundie blood? Would I start buying Dolly Parton CD's and watching American Idol?

What the hell is "gay blood"? And if it exists, is it then possible that you and your family have donated "idiot blood"?

I can guarantee you that if the only blood available that could save your life came from a gay person you would take it and shut up.
For all your Christian sanctimonious clap-trap you are still shit-scared of dying.

"Gay blood is slightly on the pinkish side."

I though that was Klingon blood.

Unless....

OMG, has anyone ever seen a gay person in the same room as a Klingon? Rapture Readians, prepare to start another thread....

"I am monogomous (sic) with my husband; my blood is safe."

and if your husband is not monogamous with you - it may not be safe. Just because he is a Christian does not mean he isn't a cheater so get off of your high horse.

@ LabRat I think there was also an "All In The Family" episode where Archie receives blood from a black woman.

To Mr Spak.

I was not aware that black people craved water melon or fried chicken anymore than anyone else does. I would suggest you choose your words a little more carefully in the future

I suspect he was satirizing the belief that racists have about black stereotypes, not necessarily implying that those stereotypes were true.

I am monogamous with my wife, yet the ARC won't take my blood because I spent too many years living in Europe. I want to give, but I'm not allowed to. Since I can't give, I want to thank all those gay men and women who are giving instead of me, as well as the black people, Hispanics, Asians and all other ethnicities. I, however, do not thank Ms. Acts5:41 for her contributions since she is a selfish bitch.
