Quote# 83904

Tragically, for over 150 years since the publication of Darwin's diabolical, anti-scientific book, "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life," nonpartisan science, truth, logic and deductive reasoning have been ruthlessly suppressed and replaced with state-funded Darwinist propaganda, groupthink, education atheism, liberal fascism and Machiavellian tactics as demonstrated in the Sewell case representing the ongoing battles between the Darwin Gestapo and Intelligent Design scientists.

This existential war on ideas reminds me of a passage from Dan Brown's novel "Angels and Demons" – If science is allowed to claim the moment of creation, (or in Coulter's words, "judge the universe") what is left for God?

Ah yes, Dan Brown, the profound philosopher and not at all paperback hack.

I'll give Ellis the benefit of the doubt and allow that he actually knows what all of those words mean. However, I am quite sure that he, like myself, knows perfectly well that his target audience doesn't. Pandering to the prejudices of the religious reich keeps them reading the advertising which accompanies this drivel and keeps Ellis in cocaine or hookers or Faberge Eggs or whatever his price is.

Since people were prosecuted for teaching the theory of evolution as recently, in this country, as 1925? I must conclude that Ellis doesn't know what he's talking about.

atropa

Spews three lines of evil Darwinist/ fascist/ liberal word salad, Godwins himself in line 4, before invoking Dan Brown to support his case.

That's some quality logic that is.

9/20/2011 4:41:26 AM

So your sources are Anne Coulter and Dan Brown? Wow, that explains a lot about you.

9/20/2011 5:05:11 AM

Raised by Horses

You know your argument is in trouble when you call upon Dan Brown to support it.

Okay, I'm beginning to suspect that Washington is trolling World Net Daily here. It's getting a little too obvious, outright calling On the Origin of Species an anti-scientific text, and bringing up Dan Brown of all people in his argument. Either that, or he's a schizophrenic or something.

If I am wrong about this, then I fear for the world.

"Tragically, for over 150 years since the publication of Darwin's diabolical, anti-scientific book....nonpartisan science, truth, logic and deductive reasoning have been ruthlessly suppressed"

In the real world the scientific and mathematical achievements of the last 150 years have been the greatest in history. The discoveries of relativity, quantum mechanics, genetics, DNA, the periodic table, Gödel's theorems, computer sicence, axiomatic set theory, etc.

Those Darwinists have done a really crappy job suppressing science and reasoning.

> nonpartisan science

Science doesn't have anything to do with politics. If you set up an allegedly non-political faction, it means you've probably not quite understood the basic idea of non-politicality. Setting up competing factions introduce politics to the system.

So your options are to either collaborate with everyone else - including those vile professors from non-Jesus colleges - or forever shutter yourself within that faction of yours. ...Thinking of political questions instead of scientific questions. ...In the "non-partisan" faction.

> from Dan Brown's novel ... or in Coulter's words

People keep saying Dan Brown is a hack. I don't get it - sure, he's by far not a great literary genius, but the books are interesting and entertaining enough, and I guess that's what weighs most. Some basic competence, there.

But I thank you for bringing another good argument to the table.

Someone else: "Man, Dan Brown is such a crappy writer!"
Me: "You don't read many books, do you? There are so many far worse books these days, like..."
Someone else: "Like what?"
Me: "...Coulter's books?"
Someone else: "...shit. ...let's get Brown a literature Nobel."

9/20/2011 5:21:27 AM

Because Dan Brown has a doctorate in theology.

Tragically, for over 150 years since the publication of Darwin's brilliant, scientific book, "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life," nonpartisan science, truth, logic and deductive reasoning have been ruthlessly suppressed and replaced with state-funded Christianist propaganda, groupthink, education superstitionism, conservative fascism and Machiavellian tactics as demonstrated in the Sewell case representing the ongoing battles between the Creationist Gestapo and scientists.

This existential war on ideas reminds me of a passage from Dan Brown's novel "Angels and Demons" – If science is allowed to claim the moment of creation, (or in Coulter's words, "judge the universe") what is left for invisible cloud-loungers?

Fixed.

Oh for fuck's sakes! There's no war, no persecution, no fascism, just the teaching of what modern biology supports in biology class. I also find it strange that you can claim that ToE is anti-scientific when science has so far supported it. Fundies may no know this but words have meanings and they can't just use them however the fuck they feel like. I can't call the Theory of Gravity cheddar cheese and expect people to take me seriously. So why should anyone take you seriously when you call ToE anti-scientific or propaganda or fascism?

9/20/2011 5:41:22 AM

liberal and fascist are opposing ideals, you dumbass

9/20/2011 5:54:16 AM

Ellis, you're not a particularly credible person. I doubt you know anything about the scientific method and you have displayed a staggering willingness to distort and revise history. It came as a shock to me then that your credibility sank even further today, when you quoted Dan fucking Brown in an ostensibly intellectual and serious discourse. I have to think now that not only are you a revisionist anti-intellectual, you're also an arrogant fuck toying with your readers. It says a lot about your readers that they continue to lap up such nonsense.

Why keep posting things from Wingnut Daily?

It's not people typing things they think: I'm sure it's all just on auto-complete.

WTF is liberal fascism?!

Which should I believe: the most thoroughly tested scientific theory ever, or Brown and Coulter? Gosh oh golly, that's a toughie.

Doubting Thomas

Nonpartisan truth & logic? How can truth or logic be partisan or non-partisan?

And I really, really would like to learn more about this liberal fascism you talk about.

Haha, ~you~ calling something anti-scientific.

You realize, of course, being the shining beacon of brilliance that you are, that this reads like you simply ran it through a conspiracy nut buzzword program and randomly inserted about half the words in this sentence. You do realize that, don't you?

"This existential war on ideas reminds me of a passage from Dan Brown's novel "Angels and Demons" – If science is allowed to claim the moment of creation, (or in Coulter's words, "judge the universe") what is left for God?"

Well? What's your answer?

Tragically, for over 1,500 years since the publication of Constantine's diabolical, anti-scientific book, "The Holy Bible" nonpartisan science, truth, logic and deductive reasoning have been ruthlessly suppressed and replaced with state-funded religious propaganda, groupthink, indoctrination, pogroms, inquisitions, witch hunts, bigotry and prejudice hiding behind manufactured moral outrage, and both Machiavellian and Borgian tactics.

Fixed.

Also, I want to find the next asshole who repeats the Rush Limbaugh, "Facists were liberals" meme in print, and literally make him chew and swallow those words.

As for Coulter, if she wasn't brain-dead I'd tell her that in science as in billiards, one should observe, not judge.

After centuries of absolute rule by the Catholic Church in Europe? Religion has had it's time. It's now the Age of Reason.

Otherwise, go and live with the Amish, Ellis. That computer of yours is the product of Atheist, homosexual ideas, via one Alan Turing.

As for 'existentialism', never mind philosophising, it all boils down to this: The modern world - as a result of science - exists. We humans exist. Your so-called 'God' doesn't. Deal with it.

PROTIP: The "Matrix" films are not documentaries. The Bible is a fairytale. 'Philosophy'? I piss on it.
