Sorry, Ellis, but the fundie "Muslim Axis" shares a lot more in common with your fundie "Christian Axis" than either share with Natural Law or Progressivism.

If your progressives CAN turn America and the West into a socialist utopia, I love your progressives with all my heart.

So, Western civilization loses either way?

> The world stands at the brink – the Progressive/Muslim Axis vs. Natural Law/Christianity.
...I thought the Natural Law Party was about Yogic flying or something like that. Why would Christians ally with them?
9/20/2011 4:35:32 AM
Um, don't you people believe that the Christian god will ultimately prevail anyway, and that events like this only make Jesus' return come faster? So why does it matter this much to you?
9/20/2011 5:04:26 AM
By "natural law" they're referring to the "natural law" referred to in the Bible and the writings of guys like St. Augustine... the idea that even though God didn't specifically reveal anything to the Gentiles, nature nonetheless has God's laws written into it so that people are without excuse when it comes to sin. They should've just known better than to go against nature/God.

Talk about a freudo-marxist slip of the ol' progressive/muslim tongue here: After Ellis' rant, he/she concludes that the only way western civilization may be saved is if the "progresso-muslimo-anarcho-diabolics" win the whole imaginary war scenario.
I think Ellis' subconscious is tired of Ellis' conscious mind and is putting out traps.
9/20/2011 5:07:31 AM
Ah, this is that insane Ellis Washington from before. And here he shows his ignorance by claiming that there is an alliance between progressives and Muslims. Oh please, Islamic countries and groups are pretty reactionary, and that is the opposite of progressivism. Why do the far right think that we would join up with our ideological enemies?
9/20/2011 5:10:23 AM
whoops double post
9/20/2011 5:10:54 AM
I think the depth of Ellis' insight into world affairs can be instantly deduced from the fact that his analysis sounds for all the world like he's playing a religiously themed version of the game "Risk".

'Muslim Progressive'. Now there's an oxymoron for ya.

9/20/2011 5:22:50 AM
Oh wow. Does ol' Ellis know and understand that these two are at diametrically opposite ends of the spectrum? Islamic political expression throughout history has typically been theocratic which is in stark contrast to progressive "free thinkers."
Again, oh wow. Ellis sells Christianity short by saddling it with an ally that doesn't even exist. Natural Law? What's that? Where's that written down anywhere? What are the penalties for violating such "Laws?"
9/20/2011 5:25:18 AM
The world stands at the brink – the Conservative/Muslim Axis vs. Natural Law/rationality. Indeed, developments in the American Republic party may indeed be that fateful domino that causes civilizations to collide into global catastrophe. Christians want to invite apocalypse to set the stage for the so-called Rapture. Since the 1880s, Christianists have provoked societal chaos through a litany of diabolical ideas and predatory capitalist policies designed to plunge America and the West into utopian free market worship as a pretext to destroy Rationality, Natural Law and the Constitution while forcing society into a globalist Robber Baron state.
Heads the Christian-Muslim-Hasidic Axis wins – tails Western civilization, rationality lose.
9/20/2011 5:25:49 AM
I know it's a bit useless to pick bits out of the crazy, but why since the 1880's? What happened then that was so terrible?
Why not 1789, or 1848, or 1859? Hell, why not 1776, when those damn liberal revolutionaries (inspired by the notorious atheist, Tom Paine) rebelled against their lawful, god-anointed king?
9/20/2011 5:50:43 AM
You've got to hand it to Washington, he has a way with combining disparate elements into one terrifying multi-headed monster of totalitarianism. Shame that his solution to oppose such a thing is also a terrifying multi-headed monster of totalitarianism. I suppose it doesn't help that he is also apparently completely insane.
9/20/2011 5:57:09 AM
My first thought was that he was referring to the Robber Barons of that period, whose stranglehold on the country's wealth was finally broken up by anti-trust legislation (which has nearly ceased to be enforced since the coming of Ronald Reagan). There was also a growing awareness and outcry during that period about the plight of the teeming population of poor, homeless or living in tenements.
Because, you know, all that silliness about keeping people from starving or being turned into slaves by the very rich is terribly un-Christian.
9/20/2011 5:59:09 AM
While there are certainly progressive Muslims, the ones you're talking about (the ones that want to invite the apocalypse) are not progressive. In fact, they have much more in common with ultra-conservatives like those here in the US. They too can't wait for the end of the world, hate gays, hate women, hate non-believers, and want to force everyone to believe what they believe.
Since the 1880s, progressives have provoked societal chaos through a litany of diabolical ideas and welfare policies designed to plunge America and the West into utopian socialism
So in other words progressivism is a good thing. Because the word utopia mean an ideal society. While I believe that nobody can create a utopia, that IS what you said.
as a pretext to destroy Christianity, Natural Law and the Constitution
1) Most progressives are Christian.
2) You can't destroy a natural law. It's not like the law of gravity written on a piece of paper and burning that piece of paper deactivates gravity.
3) Why would progressives destroy the Constitution? Its protections are what has led to increased human rights, a PROGRESSIVE issue. It's what keeps your ilk from oppressing everyone else.
Heads the Progressive-Muslim Axis wins – tails Western civilization, Christianity and Israel lose.
Okay, if it's really that hopeless that you lose no matter what then just go away and let everyone else try to live in peace.

"'Muslim Progressive'. Now there's an oxymoron for ya."
I'm pretty sure you can have a religion and be socially progressive. Do you think all religious people are ultraconservatives or something? I know plenty of Muslim progressives.
9/20/2011 6:02:33 AM
I really don't think that Muslims are that progressive, if you look at certain Mideastern theocracies. But I thought they wanted to impose sharia law all over the world (which is definitely not progressive), as spouted by most right-wing Christian Islamaphobics.
9/20/2011 6:05:42 AM
How can you use up mirror polish at that rate? Okay, fine, I'll go to the store and buy another bottle.
9/20/2011 6:21:39 AM
To a point, but eventually it will be at odds with your beliefs unless you cherrypick.
Edit: This only pertains to some religions though, mind. Abrahamic ones in particular.
9/20/2011 6:26:51 AM
LOL; Heads I win, tails you lose.
9/20/2011 6:38:35 AM
A global marxist state would actually be a lot more preferable to the current situation of rich assholes fucking over everyone.
