Quote# 84000

@ Craig

You might want to reconsider your position in light of this fact, if you want children you don’t need a woman in your life at all, just some money.

Hire a surrogate and be happy.

Why don’t you do it? I believe men have a romantic notion of wife and family.

That has been a very nasty bit of fraud perpetrated on men for over a century.

You do not need a wife, a wife today is a major liabilty, like having cancer (and this is a serious analogy, think about it, a growth of cells that consumes, does not contribute, then, if your lucky is painfully removed leaving you injured for life).

Ok, when you're eighty and alone as a cockroach, don't say at least that you were not warned.

Well, the guy is certainly a piece of shit, I'll grant you that. But considering the complete lack of anything religious (or overtly secular, which we've seen before), is it really fundie?

Just another proof that there's a real need for a SSTDT (Sexists etc.)
Not fundie, just WTF.

To those saying this is sexist, are the feminists who say a woman doesn't need a man to have a baby sexist?

And having a wife is a bit of a chance for a man. She could divorce him and lose half his stuff, not to mention paying alimony, and possibly have to pay child support to her.

While comparing wives to cancer is very stupid, it's a valid point.

I hate to agree with this at all, but the first two lines are correct. With enough money, a man could hire a surrogate to have a child for him.

This part, though:

"You do not need a wife, a wife today is a major liabilty, like having cancer (and this is a serious analogy, think about it, a growth of cells that consumes, does not contribute, then, if your lucky is painfully removed leaving you injured for life)."

sounds like Rocco had a bitter divorce and is wanting to spread his bile over the matter.

Not so much fundie as flat-out funny.

@ clockworkgirl21

All that stuff goes both ways, my dear. I have a female friend who was dumped and is currently going through a divorce. She's always worked, and now is not only "losing half her stuff" to her soon-to-be-ex-husband, but having to fight the guy's attempt to get half of her pension after she retires in about 17 years, as well. And the days of long-term alimony payments, in my state, anyway, are a thing of the past, in most cases, at least for all but the very rich.

Yeah, you tell my wife she doesn't contribute. I'll shovel the bits of you up afterward.

"That has been a very nasty bit of fraud perpetrated on men for over a century."

Women realizing in the 20th century that they could be their husband's partner instead of his servant = fraud.

fundamentalism refers to one's (or many's) worldview, not their religious state of mind. this guy is a fundamental misogynist. and yes, there are fundamental feminists, too.

this guy sees women as cancerous, not as equals with whom one has a relationship.

Mein reaction, line by line.

First two lines:

Okay, with you so far.

Line three:

Probably true.

Line four:

... I'm getting cautious, but go on.

The rest:

Aaaaand it's off into left field.

Is it time for Misogynists Say the Damnedest Things? This doesn't really fit in F/C/RSTDT, but it deserves highlighting anyway.

manboobz.com has done a sterling job of collecting quotes in this vein.

If you stuff some money up your ass you'll get pregnant?

I rather like having a woman in my life.
They are soft in all the right places, comfortably warm to snuggle up to, and they smell nice.
And mine is a far better carpenter than I will ever be. Nothing says sexy like a babe who owns her own tools,,, and knows how to use them.
Of course people like Rocco probably secretly prefer to wake up to the smell of male sweat.

You're seriously telling me that if you had the choice of having a wife or cancer you wouldn't know which one to pick? Granted, getting divorced really sucks but I have to imagine it's not worse than slowly dying in excruciating pain.

Wow! Rocco's not just a misogynist....he's a MISOGYNIST! A literal WOMAN-HATER! Suit yourself, slimebag, if you think women are mind-blowingly hideous & gross, at least we ladies are spared of your horny advances, since you'll avoid us like the plague. No loss to me. You can just spend your life cold & alone....no loss to me!

I can understand the "You don't need a relationship to be complete" statements of people. Many women say the same, "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle". I shouldn't made double-standards.

Nonetheless, the sheer woman-hatred & comparing us to cancer is uncalled for. And the implications of this statement, reading between the lines, deserves a punch in the face....he thinks the only good women are Stepford Wives.

That has been a very nasty bit of fraud perpetrated on men for over a century.

If it's a fraud, it's been going on for a lot more than a century - marriage has been around in every culture since the dawn of recorded history. Actually, it's men who have driven marriage as a way of knowing that they're raising their own children and not some other guy's.
