Quote# 84162

(Randall Terry schmoozes for money for his presidential bid)

Dear Pro-Life Friend,

We have embarked on the long, hard task of recruiting pro-life Americans to run as federal candidates in the 2012 election cycle and beyond. Their purpose: To be a "Voice for the Voiceless;" to create a crisis of conscience for the nation by showing dead babies.

Our position is simple: Ending the Murder of Children Is the #1 Moral and Political issue facing America.

God warns that He will punish a nation that kills her children. The Bible teaches that “shedding innocent blood” is the worst crime that a nation can commit. The following passage is one example of many. Consider the peril America is in:

They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood. Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the harlot in their doings. Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage; he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them. Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power. (Psalm 106: 37-42)

Please understand: America is in great danger. If we are going to save America from God’s judgments, we need repentance, and the political atmosphere in which people make ending this holocaust America’s number one political issue. It is more critical than the economy; more critical than foreign policy; more critical than the debt ceiling.

In fact, as the above passage from the Scripture shows, WE WILL NEVER SAVE OUR ECONOMY, or CURE THESE OTHER ILLS, until we stop killing our children, BECAUSE THE HAND OF GOD WILL BE AGAINST US.

Hence, our goal is to create a crisis of conscience for America, by showing the public the gruesome reality of “safe, legal, abortion;” pictures of murdered babies in TV ads.

An Embarrassing and Difficult Situation
I despise writing a letter of this nature.

Besides genuine pro-life advocates and supporters, I also have members of the press, pro-abortion activists – and "pro-life people” who wish us ill – who read my letters.

I do not want to give our adversaries fodder to use against us. But I don't see any other option besides praying and telling our friends (and unfortunately our enemies) the truth.

We have seven full-time people on our team that fight in Washington DC. All of us are “missionaries;” we are not paid for our struggle and work. In addition to them, we have about 5 small groups we work with on a regular basis.

None of them, or I, get paid for what we do. We work every day -- usually six days a week -- from 10 to 14 hours a day. (People take breaks and vacations when needed.)

Everyone is supported by friends, family, small part-time jobs, and by kind people who bring over a meal or buy Chinese food.

We literally live hand to mouth.

"We work every day -- usually six days a week --"

Six days a week is NOT, in fact, every day. When you can't even get basic literacy right, what hope do you have of grasping the social issue of abortion? Or the more complex things you would be required to deal with as President?

"Our position is simple: Ending the Murder of Children Is the #1 Moral and Political issue facing America."

How about you focus all your time and energy to advocate for, I don't know, children who have already been born? Think of all the lives of children who are poverty-stricken or who suffer from abusive parents that could be immensely improved, but instead you'd rather stigmatize and harass women who make private medical/reproductive choices on their own behalf.

"God warns that He will punish a nation that kills her children. "

Uhhh...didn't he order the deaths of all firstborn sons because someone angered him?

Great, a group of people who don't really do much of anything, all day, six days a week....and you have the nerve to call that work?

Okay, this guy makes me nauseous. Seriously.

Personally, I'm not a big believer in abortion after a certain point, unless there is necessity (medical, delay in the procedure due to interfering fucktards like this one, etc.).

But guess what, Randall honey? It's not my decision to make. And it is sure not up to you, either, you whacked-out madman!

That is a choice every woman must make for herself, if and/or when she needs to.

As Aspergus so sanely points out to you, you would be far, far better off concentrating on children who are suffer daily from poverty, violence, neglect and/or other forms of misery.

You disgust me, you hypocritical piece of unevolved slime-mold! Go crawl back under whatever rock you call your own.

Yes, exactly, because there's a perfect correlation between a country's policy on abortion and that country's prosperity.

So you spent 100 days praying at the Whitehouse in the first 100 days of Obama's presidency. And that didn't work for you! Well bugger me, who would of thought that wouldn't work.

Terry is a con-man, of a sort becoming increasingly common: the kind who spend all their time running for offices they know they have no chance of being elected to, but make a nice living off the campaign donations.

If you're pro-life because you believe a fetus is a child, I guess I can respect that. You see something you think is a victim, it's only right you stand up for them.

But citing the Bible? Fuck off. The Bible orders the killing of people on every other page.

You mean the same gummy-bears-covered-in-corn-syrup photos you've been shoving in our faces for the last 40 years? No one gives a shit about those any more.

Ten bucks says the pictures are of mock ups of a miniature "babies" put out as 10 week old fetuses.

Normally the pictures people post on here are pretty pointless, but Percy Q. has just given us a beauty. The subtle but powerful addition of the coathanger is what really makes it stand out for me.

Yes, let's save all of the unborn so we can continue to overburden the adoption system while trying to cut as much funding as possible in order to decrease taxes for the rich. After all, fuck the children that are already born! If their parents can't afford to take care of them or don't have insurance, then let them die! It's the Teapublican way!

P.S. we are not talking about babies that have already been born. We don't care about those.

I thought the American Supreme Court had said banning Abortion was unconstitutional. As a non-American I am not 100% sure but doesn't that mean that you aren't ever going to stop it without changing the constitution?

I am not going into abortion and if it is right or wrong cause I can't say that for everyone. But if you really hate it you should be all for teaching people about proper contraception so they never get to the point that they have an unwanted pregnancy. But I bet you aren't are you, you would rather all women are just there for men to impregnate when ever they feel the need right?

10/5/2011 5:47:44 AM

Extraintrovert

Honestly, I'm not even going to bother. I'm not going to bother repeating that a fetus is not a human until it passes a certain point in its development, or that God is all about the indiscriminate slaughter of innocents, or attempting to use the bible to prove anything is doomed to failure, or that there's a reason appeal to emotion and appeal to consequence are logical fallacies, or that sex education and access to contraception are the best methods of preventing unwanted pregnancies and abortion, or that the amount of overlap between pro-life groups and anti-health care, anti-government assistance and/or pro-war groups is clear evidence of their hypocrisy, or that this is an obvious con wanting to line his pockets with the money of the gullible. I'm tired of watching the same idiots trot out the same bullshit arguments while willfully and blissfully ignoring reality or anything even approaching reason.

So yeah mister Terry, you succeeded in creating a "crisis of conscience" in me, because I am seriously considering tracking you down, tying you to a chair and setting you on fire. My conscience is against me, but it would feel SO good. I'm sure you would love to be a martyr for your "cause", in any case.

You ever think that fixing the economic and educational malaise of the country might perhaps, oh, I don't know, decrease the necessity for abortion in the first fucking place?

Seriously, you people are unbelievable, and you have your priorities completely screwed up. And fuck your scripture quotes and your base emotional appeals. They are an insult to the intellect of everyone involved in the discussion of abortion.

10/5/2011 6:08:39 AM

Doubting Thomas

When are anti-abortion people going to learn that showing (often faked) gruesome pictures of aborted fetuses is not helping their cause? It hasn't worked to end abortion for 40 years, so I guess keep up the good work. While you're at it, why don't you keep praying to end abortion, seeing as how that's been working so well for you, too.

If you really want to end abortion, why don't you mandate that contraception will be made available to anyone who wants it, along with comprehensive sex education? But that goes against your other priority of not allowing people to have recreational sex without consequences, doesn't it?

Concerned Citizen

I need to preface this by saying I am leftist, pro-choice, atheist, and skeptical.

But seriously, comments like Extraintrovert's, to pick one at semi-random from the seething filthy morass of this website's comment threads, are the reason FSTDT makes me facepalm so hard.

Can we please stop with the violent rhetoric? I don't care if it's a joke or hyperbole or however you want to justify it, you know that the majority of the people submitting to FSTDT would gladly seize on a Christian using that same language and hold it up as an example of how batshit they are. What makes you think they won't do the same? And they'd be right to. You sound crazier than Randall here. I don't care how frustrated and angry you are with idiots like RT, grow the fuck up and use the language of a fucking adult.

And another thing, while we're on the topic. Saying "an abortion is a woman's choice!" to pro-lifers is stupid. Take TWO SECONDS to be empathetic and put yourself in the shoes/head of another person and you will realize that because these people believe abortion is the murder of a child (not that I agree, but that is beside the point) they have an obligation to stop it from occurring even in other women.

Saying shit like "it should be a woman's choice!" sounds, TO THEM (and again, I am not saying I agree) like saying, "it's ok to rape your daughter, just don't force me to rape mine." That is EXACTLY how it feels to them. Stop making the "it's a woman's choice" argument and start making the "here's why you're wrong" argument. Even if you don't succeed at least you don't sound like a lunatic and a fool.

For fuck's sake.

@sadhuman:

Fundies don't care what's in the constitution. If they are forced to deal with it, they change the meaning of the words written in it.

On this issue they say there is no right to privacy in the constitution, then spend the rest of the week whining about how much the government interferes with their lives.
