Ahem, I was a single mother who worked shit jobs to make sure my children were taken care of. Your precious Republican Red states suck the most from the federal trough, and your lying about it won't change it.

Um, what? I'm fairly sure single mothers aren't the sole bedrock of Democratic support.

I grew up in a staunchly Democratic two-parent family. My happily married brother and his wife both vote Democrat.
But keep saying idiotic shit like this, it's only helping push us towards another Democratic victory.

what you want to do is build two parent families, you eliminate that desire for government
So families lead to a desire for anarchy? I'm pretty sure any reasonable family doesn't want companies to sell lead tainted toys and uninspected food. Most families also quite like having a public school system (even though it could definitely use some fixing). I'm also pretty sure they like public roads, police officers, firemen, and the ability to catch, try, and jail criminals.
P.S. Does anyone else find it hypocritical that the Teapublicans that are so anti-government are running for government positions?

Or you can just not allow single mother to vote. Which the republic party is doing.

Let's see....I am the husband in a two parent household. For the last 20 years I have been supporting my family through military service to my country. My wife is not employed making me the sole "breadwinner."
Sounds like the ideal Republican Christian family, doesn't it? Wrong! I am not only a Democrat and liberal, but an atheist as well.
OMG! I just destroyed your false assertions.

Nevermind all the other things wrong with what you said . . . but one way to help reduce the number of single-mom households would be through very non-republican legislation:
Put better sex education in schools
Make birth control more accessible
That includes making abortion available to low income women
Give women the tools to take control of the reproductivity, and fewer of them will have kids without a partner who is willing and able to help with child-rearing. There were still be single-parent households, for many, many reasons, but not as many.

What, Rick? No mention of how single mothers are nothing but slutty whores who can't be bothered to marry the guy who knocked them up?
Maybe if this wasn't the Republican view on single mothers, you might actually help them out a bit so they don't always have to vote for Democrats.

"Look at the political base of the Democratic Party: it is single mothers who run a household. Why? Because it’s so tough economically that they look to the government for help and therefore they’re going to vote. So if you want to reduce the Democratic advantage, what you want to do is build two parent families, you eliminate that desire for government."
I love the smell of arguments blasted out of the space-time continuum in the morning. Smells like... victory.

Well, Rick, the reason many single mothers are Dems is because the GOP treats them like dirt. Same for poor people and minorities. Many intellectuals are Dems because they can see the short-sightedness of not helping those in need and they are concerned about fairness.
Why are you and your friends Reps? Because you're greedy a**holes who already have yours and don't give a big rat's a** about the have nots.

But, Mr Frothy, surely you must realize that this is an argument against poverty/precarity (and for better sex ed/more affordable birth control), not against the Democratic Party...
And your Teabagging fans amply proved that one can be on government assistance and still be rabidly Republican. At least these impoverished single mothers you mention know better than to vote against their interests, which is more than can be said for your trailer trash fanbase.

By insisting (unrealistically) on chastity before marriage, Cahn and Carbone argue, social conservatives guarantee that their children will get pregnant early and often, leading to teen childbirth, shotgun marriages and high divorce rates.
This self-defeating cycle could explain why socially conservative states have more family instability than, say, the culturally liberal Northeast. If you’re looking for solid marriages, head to Massachusetts, not Alabama.

Rick, either we can use the government as a tool of social and infrastructural improvement, or we can use it as a tool for destruction. I really hope more people in the media would pick up on the message that Republicans don't give a damn about America, and only want to use it's government as a military weapon.
