(Slavery in the Americas is entirely the fault of Muslims.)

[M]aking concessions to Sharia law over against the moral code of the Judeo-Christian tradition is nothing new for America. We started doing it in 1619 when we began to tolerate the slave trade, as the first shipment of 30 African slaves arrived on the shores of Virginia ... The slaves who were brought here in chains in 1619 were Africans who had been kidnapped by other Africans and sold to slave traders who in turn brought them to America. The kidnappers, the ones who went into the interior of Africa to capture their fellow Africans to sell them into bondage, were predominantly Muslims.

...

Now, in contrast to Islam and Sharia, the Judeo-Christian tradition from day one has been adamantly opposed to the slave trade ... Moses flatly prohibited the slave trade under penalty of death. “Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death” (Exodus 21:16). In other words, if a strictly biblical code had been followed in 1619, the slave trader who brought that ship to Virginia would have been arrested the moment he landed, prosecuted and hung by the neck until dead. The slaves on board would have been returned to their families and their homelands, and slavery would never have gained a foothold in the United States.

But sadly, we made our first concession to Sharia law in 1619 instead of being guided by the wisdom of Scripture, and we have paid a terrible price for it. Slavery became our first national sin, as abortion is today ... So if the early colonists had followed either the Old or New Testaments, the slave trade would have been treated as criminal behavior from the very beginning, and America never would have been plagued with all the myriad evils that slavery and racism have brought to our land.

Slavery is among the lesser practices condoned and encouraged by the Bible.

Yep, that's exactly how it happened. Some innocent Christian Europeans were just cruising along the coast of Africa, minding their own business, when suddenly a boatload of Muslims showed up and foisted a cargo of slaves onto them.
The innocent Christians were at a loss what to do, but eventually the wicked muslims persuaded them using their evil Sharia law, so the Christians reluctantly took the poor Africans to the Americas and immediately worked them to death on their cotton plantations.

While Christian europeans used to kidnap other europeans and sell them as slaves to the Saracens in the early middle ages; the Church's main worry was that they didn't enslave other christians (the word slave comes from the fact that slavic people, not fully christianized at the time, were targeted more), and even that was usually ignored. So much for judeo-christian morality.

Slavery in America didn't start because Arab traders spotted a business opportunity: it started because fully Christian plantation owners bought the slaves. No "tolerating" the trade: western merchants had no qualms making buttloads of money from it, selling guns to african tribes to make kidnapping raids against other tribes and buying up the captives as slaves.

Even if what you said is true, they have the perfect liberty NOT TO BUY THEM. And moreover, bear in mind that the Latin word for slave was "servus"(cognate for nowadays servant)whereas now the word for most languages is slave. Why?, because during the CHRISTIAN middle ages, slaves came to the then heathen Slavic countries. Where was Islam then?

Old Testament

Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever.
-Leviticus 25:44-46

New Testament

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ.
-Ephesians 6:5

Wel, the early settlers - certainly their immediate descendants in the South - could have simply refused the offer of slaves...! [/smartarse]

So you Christians are experiencing 'Persecution' today, eh?

Well, it's your own fault...! [/smartarse II]

10/25/2011 9:09:08 AM

Which is why all the christians down in the south supported emancipation, because slavery was islamic

Right?

Actually, the verse in question seems to be talking about kidnapping, not slavery. The verse talks about putting the criminal to death regardless of whether he sold the victim or not.

King James (the only true bible, according to fundies) has it thusly:

"And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death."

Funny, it was Christians who used the Bible to justify slavery and they are the ones who bought the slaves.

Now, pray tell, how do you know the ones who sold slaves were muslims?

This guy is reaching the point where he can blame Muslims for EVERYTHING. It'd be hilarious if there weren't people listening to him.
