Quote# 84478

[Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood] was known as a very promiscuous woman who jumped from sex partner to sex partner, which she referred to as her "voluntary mates." She was not only addicted to drugs, but was an occultist who was "Obsessed with numerology, astrology, and psychics." She wrote harshly against the idea of abstinence and self-control, stating that society should "Remove the constraints and prohibitions which now hinder the release of inner [sexual] energies…" She viewed abortion as not only a powerful weapon in the hands of eugenicists, but as an effective means of birth control. The fallout of her philosophies has been an increase in the rate of divorce, an epidemic in sexually transmitted diseases and the sacrifice of millions of children on the narcissistic altar of self.

Joe forgot to mention that she also cooked and ate small childern, poured poison into community water reservoirs, encouraged HIV+ patients to donate blood, and came up with the original idea for "American Idol".

Yes, an evil, evil woman.

Btw, has Mr. Schimmel returned the $25,000 he "borrowed" from his local church tithe fund yet?

(See Joe, it's easy to make up crazy shit.)

Would you like to run across this timid Christian in a dark alley on a rainy night?

That's Joe.

Damn those occultists!

She viewed abortion as not only a powerful weapon in the hands of eugenicists, but as an effective means of birth control.

Sanger was against abortion (minus certain exceptions) for both safety and moral reasons; today she'd probably still be against it for those moral reasons. Bringing up the eugenics movement is a rather weak argument- yes, she believed in eugenics, but at that time so did a lot of people of basically every background, as it was a popular movement. I'm sure a number of Good Christians were for eugenics. Sanger was not a very radical advocate; she did not believe the state should control able-minded people's reproductive practices (though she did think the profoundly mentally handicapped shouldn't be allowed to breed), nor that children with genetic defects should be euthanized, and she was very much against the Nazi eugenics program.

The fallout of her philosophies has been an increase in the rate of divorce

Because every marriage back in the good old days was happy, but then them womens got the right to vote and that made them unhappy and ruined this country. Or maybe this was just a part of the overall increase in women's rights that made it okay to divorce someone whom you no longer loved.

The fallout of her philosophies has been an increase in the rate of divorce ...

The rate of divorce among evangelical Christians is over twice that of atheists. Who knew Kentucky Baptists were followers of Margaret Sanger?

10/25/2011 12:40:32 PM

She recognized sooner than most that repression of sexual urges is not healthy and not what god intended.

Wait, what did I just say?

10/25/2011 12:41:21 PM

I see you invested in the extra large shovel... How's that working out for you?

10/25/2011 12:56:29 PM

Even if we assume that to be true, she no longer runs Planned Parenthood so this hatchet job is irrelevant. And I'm pretty sure STDs and extramarital sex existed before Margaret Sanger was born. People just didn't talk about them for fear of being ostracized.

Dr. Razark

Adolf Hitler was very strongly against smoking.

Does that mean that not smoking is supporting Hitler?

Or could it be that certain ideas held by a person have absolutely nothing to do with other ideas held by the same person?

Jezebel's Evil Sister

Yeah, but she repented and accepted Jesus on her death bed, which she shared with Darwin, right?

Old Viking

She used to deliberately flaunt her bare ankles in public.

Lying for jeebus is still lying.

She was a ten-foot-tall beast-woman who showered in vodka and fed her baby shrimp scampi.

She gave a handjob to a manta ray!

Margaret Sanger framed Roger Rabbit.

She not only believed in Santa Claus--she wanted to put him in a porn film.

It was the sight of Margaret Sanger's naked body which drove Brian Wilson insane.

TL;DR: Lies, slut-shaming, and "Hitler Ate Sugar"

10/25/2011 2:01:37 PM

Amoung her "voluntary mates" were Hitler, Lucifer, and Nancy Pelosi.

Sanger also founded 4Kids Animation.

Margaret Sanger killed Micheal Jackson. She also killed Vincent Price, Heath Ledger, Jesus, Walt Disney, Dumbledore, and Mufasa.

It was the sight of Sanger's ass that drove the mad hatter insane.

Doubting Thomas

Even if all this were true, how would it be a bad thing?

Oh, and you forgot to mention that she ate babies. *oops* Checkmate beat me to it.

Citation seriously fucking needed.

If you read through the woo, wharrgarbl, and word salad, though, could you please advise what, exactly, is wrong with a woman who enjoys sex?

Argle Bargle

Dear fundies: a movement won't go away if you talk shit about its founder long enough.

10/25/2011 3:10:20 PM

I guess lying is only a sin when nonbelievers do it.

10/25/2011 3:11:19 PM

Yeah, women should have been forced to continually submit to their husbands and force out a dozen kids, causing the women endless physical and economic burden.

Teenagers are going to have sexual urges. Thus, they're going to have sex. Deal with it.

Also, the last time I checked, those pro-choice liberals have much lower divorce rates than those fundamentalist Christians. Whose morals need to be questioned, again?

10/25/2011 3:16:50 PM

Pretty funny watching Christians whine and moan about the occult when Christianity is an occultic religion.

10/25/2011 3:16:54 PM

Even if we pretend that all of your allegations are 100% true (which the other commenters before me assure me are not), so what?

It doesn't change the fact that the mission of Planned Parenthood is to provide health care for women who might not otherwise get it.

It doesn't change the fact that women need to have the right to control their bodies, as much as men already have that right (though granted, it's harder for us to get pregnant than most women...) You haven't provided a single reason why that shouldn't be the case.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Birth control is an effective method of birth control and that's what Margaret Sanger fought for. Take the 5 seconds to check out you so called facts before you spew out this crap and you might make valid points instead of the long winded wharrgrbl that only highlights your ignorance.

Well, it's accurate through the first closing square-bracket.

When you can't formulate a cogent, valid argument against your opponent's position, the fall back position is always to demonize them.
Christians are very good liars-for-Jesus when it suits them, and the people reading their garbage never check the sources. I've argued with enough of the morons to know.
