Quote# 84586

A CNN anchor asked earlier this week whether or not Jesus would occupy Wall Street.

That question can be answered with a categorical “No.”

First, Jesus has no truck with rank, blatant hypocrites. The OWS crowd has now fallen to squabbling over who gets a slice of the $500,000 which has been donated to them, and which, by the way, they put in one of the evil, greedy banks they are out to destroy.

Secondly, Jesus has no truck with those whose entire agenda is to flagrantly disobey two of the Ten Commandments of God.

God said, “Thou shalt not steal,” a commandment Jesus affirmed on numerous occasions. Stealing is wrong, and it doesn’t make it right when government does it under color of law.

And the OWS crowd is animated by a thoroughly ugly disregard for the 10th Commandment as well. God says, “Thou shalt not covet...any thing that is thy neighbor’s.” And yet the Occupiers are driven by a dark, bitter, resentful, angry and acquisitive greed for stuff that belongs to other people.

I submit that no political program that is predicated on a violation of twenty percent of God’s moral law can possibly be right, can possibly work, or can possibly be good for America.

Jesus took a whip to the thieves and the covetous in his day. If he were to come back and do the same thing today, he just might start in Zuccotti Park.

In other words, he might occupy Wall Street after all.

I was about to make a comment then I saw it was Bryan. He's beyond, shall we say, "saving".

"Jesus took a whip to the thieves and the covetous in his day."

Eh? Are you sure about that? I really don't remember Jesus physically assaulting anyone in the Bible.

My recollection is that he took a whip to the money-changers. Isn't that another word for "bankers"?

Umm, didn't Jesus hang out with whores, lepers, thieves and eunuchs?

Jesus took a whip to merchants.

He also, I recall, said something about "giving unto Caesar", selling away all your stuff and giving away the money to the poor, or rich men not going to heaven.

"Though shalt not covet thy neighbours ass"

I never have. My neighbour doesn't own livestock.

So in Bryan Fischer's world, God would want the oppressed to be oppressed further and abused as well.

God said, “Thou shalt not steal"

A commandment which has gone right over the heads of the people of Wall Street, who proceeded to bankrupt the US and then expected the rest of the nation to bail them out.

Go fuck yourself, Bryan, you corporate whore.

You dumb fuck, the OWSers don't want anybody else's shit; they want the mega-rich to stop stealing everything not nailed down from the rest of us. Why do you have a problem with Americans returning to the days of everyone having an equal shot? What the fuck is wrong with you republicans?

Never mind the banks' violation of those two commandments.

@MK: No, the money changers were people who worked in the Jerusalem temple who exchanged Roman money for a special type of money that could only be used in the temple to purchase animals for sacrifice which could not be bought with regular money. Sort of like the people at old school video arcades.

"What the fuck is wrong with you republicans?"

A lot of them are brainless, amoral authoritarian followers. Upstanding, God-fearing Christians who would have made good SS, Stalinists, or Khmer Rouge.

First, Jesus has no truck with rank, blatant hypocrites.

Damn, then I guess fundamentalists are absolutely screwed.

Stealing is wrong, and it doesn’t make it right when government does it under color of law.

If it's a legal tax it's, by definition, not stealing. Stealing is when something is taken illegally. Now render unto Caesar like the Bible tells you to. You wouldn't want Jesus to keep having no truck with you.

I submit that no political program that is predicated on a violation of twenty percent of God’s moral law can possibly be right, can possibly work, or can possibly be good for America.

The American system violates commandment 1 (with the Constitutional freedom of religion), commandment 10 (with our capitalist system), commandment 6 (with our death penalty), commandment 7 (because Jesus said lust is the same as adultery and we do romantic marriages rather than political or arranged ones which means we have to lust), commandment 4 (Walmart is open 7 days a week and so are hospitals), and all of the others aside from killing and stealing are not prohibited by law (except bearing false witness in some cases). So, by your logic America is not good for America.

Apparently he doesn't mind people who flout the ninth commandment though, considering that his followers do so all the time.

*sigh* I'm sick of people who don't know anything about OWS claiming they know everything abot it. The movement is about ending corproate greed and the richest 1 percent taking everything from the 99 percent.

11/1/2011 5:40:24 AM

Apparently "though shalt not steal" is okay when it's the banks doing it, though.

Amazing how Jesus thinks just like you. OWS from what I can tell want more regulations on banks and wall street to stop them from playing around with other peoples lives and getting rich off bankrupting said people. But who really cares you just want to see people you don't like in the worst way possible no matter what.

I do seem to remember that Jesus was very much against accumulating wealth while people go hungry, and was very much in favor of feeding the poor. Why is it that conservative Christians never can seem to remember these parts of the bible?

Surely a Bible Scholar of your caliber is aware that Jesus said there were only two Commandments:

1: Love your neighbor as you love yourself and,

2: Love god above all others.

A few other things that he said were that you were to sell off everything you own, give the money to the poor and trust in god to provide for you.

He also said something about rich men getting into heaven, a camel and the eye of a needle. Then there was that whole moneychangers incident and the fact that he hung out with people not unlike the OWS crowd. You know, the ones who got screwed over and left behind by all of the true hypocrites and greedy bastards.

Perhaps you should listen to him for once.

"Jesus took a whip to the thieves and the covetous in his day. If he were to come back and do the same thing today, he just might start in Zuccotti Park."

Yes. He would start in the Park to gather a following and lead them to Wall Street where he would proceed to do to them what he did to the greedy moneychangers the last time around.

Bryan, I suspect that your little addiction to "power" among Christian whack jobs has finally gone to your obviously oxycodone induced brain where Jesus lives smoking a bong with his disciples.

Indeed he did. He spent his time around people the rest of society would not want to deal with. Meanwhile, the rich would have severe trouble to get into the kingdom of heaven, but since when did Christians give a crap about what Jesus said or did?
