Quote# 84646

Obama is the new “Teflon Don” and the media is his #1 supporter/enabler.

I don’t know if Larry Sinclair is telling the truth, but I DO know that if he were claiming to be involved with a Republican, (whether it be a presidential candidate or local dog catcher), the media would be all over it like white on rice. (Anybody remeber how many reporters they sent to Alaska to investigate Sarah Palin? Hell, as far as the media knew, she never even had a parking ticket, but they still sent an army of reporters on the red-eye flight to Alaska after her speech and enlisted another army of assorted liberal whack jobs to find some dirt on her.

Yet, with Obama “the Magic Negro,” not even a cheesy P.I. has been asked to investigate his past. Nada. Zip. Bupkis.

(Oh, but I forgot, anybody who questions Zero’s past is a paranoid birther with a tin-foil hat. At least that’s what the media says.)

Typically when an attention whore felon says, "hey! I fucked Obama! WHY DON'T YOU PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEEEEEE" it's ignored, and for good reason. He's a liar.

And anyone that questions Obama's past is, in fact, a paranoid tinfoil-hat wearing birther.

As for no one investigating his past, uh, WHAT!? every conservative and his sister's friend's aunt's tea party-attending dog has pored over his entire life history.

I really like how he broadly paints one of the most diverse industries in the world as a single monolithic entity.

"Teflon don"?

I've heard a lot of euphemisms in my time, but that's a new one on me.

11/4/2011 11:29:49 PM

The media are his number one supporters.

Fixed. Media. Plural of medium. As opposed to small or large. Or something.

"White on rice"?
My dog talks more sense than that, and he's a dog.

White on rice is a pretty common saying, that phrase on its own makes sense.

...that doesn't speak much for the rest of it though. The hell is a Teflon Don?

I may have gotten this nickname confused with a similar-sounding one, but didn't the term "Teflon Don" originally refer to Reagan? (Because, no matter how many scandals occurred during his administration, and, despite the fact that it was perfectly obvious that his economic system would bring ruination to us all, the American people were so criminally stupid, that their positive opinion of Reagan did not change no matter how obviously corrupt he was.)

And you've gotta be kidding me. The very fact that the birther movement still exists, and is mainstream among Tea Partiers, proves that there are still people investigating Obama's past. What he has said about his past has been proven to be true beyond a reasonable doubt, and this has been corroborated by both Democrats and Republicans, but since you people cannot accept the idea of an N-word (or at least, that's what you'd call 'im) in the White House, you keep at it.

11/5/2011 8:53:07 AM

For the same double standards you apply. If they investigate Sarah Palin for LEGITIMATE REASONS that she hasn't denied, you're trying to tarnish her image. If you claim things which have been debunked again and again, just because the guy is black, that's what the media says. Whatever.

11/5/2011 10:08:50 AM

"Teflon Don" originally referred to John Gotti, boss of the Gambino crime family who openly flaunted his position but escaped conviction ... until 1992 when the teflon wore off and he went to prison for life.

Yes, the duly elected President of the United States, in the only undisputed election since 2000, is being compared to a mobster.

11/5/2011 10:13:40 AM

His past was investigated when he ran for the Senate, because a US Senator needs access to classified information. An international network of federal agents pores over every document relating to his family background, send agents out to conduct interviews and follow leads pertaining to his education, employment, foreign travel, residences, associates, and financial dealings You were saying?

No, it just usually happens to turn out this way. First they were claiming that he was born in Kenya, then they kept clamoring to see his birth certificate. Since he released copies of his birth certificate all that's grown old & stale, so now they're claiming that they need to see his college transcripts. Seriously, what other president in history has ever had to go through this kind of anal exam?

@ fmitchell:

Okay. Apparently Reagan was called the "Teflon President". Never mind.

Donald Trump? That idiot sheriff in AZ? Orly Taits? And all others of that ilk?

Haven't they been "researching" and "investigating" stuff since the President's inauguration?

11/5/2011 10:32:28 PM

And by "research" and "investigate" they mean doing 30 minute searches on Google and trolling random forums.

"a paranoid birther with a tin-foil hat. At least that’s what the media says."

Occasionally the corporate media gets it right.

The media are his number one supporters.

Fixed. Media. Plural of medium. As opposed to small or large. Or something.

In this case, 'The media is' is correct, since the crazy person treating it as an organization, rather than the members of the organization. It's one of those bits of verb/noun agreement things where both are valid.
That said, grammar's pretty much the only thing correct in this screed.

The US has the most conservative media in the free world and Obama has been more extensively vetted than any president in living memory.
