Okay, I'm with you there. We're making the same mistakes in Afghanistan the Soviet Union made: trying to force our ideology onto a completely different kind of society. We're fighting the same war that bankrupted the SU - and from all evidence it's helped to bankrupt us as well.

Any earnest striving in the way of God, involving personal, physical, for righteousness and against wrong-doing" (wikipedia definition, take with a grain of curiosity), and jihad is applied as holy expansion nonstop. basically, jihad will stop when all the world is either a: converted, b: dhimmi (non-converts living with muslims), c: under the influence of the califate, d: islam does not exist anymore, or e: world peace has been achieved.
it basically started during the hijra in 622 and has gone on nonstop since...

Yeah... why conform to the laws and social standards of any country where you *claim* you are helping to bring democracy to...? It's not like it's just plain good manners...

Porn, alcohol and pork are not essential to a soldier's survival. In fact, the last two might just do more to harm their lives. Care packages are luxuries. Soldiers should be thankful that some people care enough to send them their gifts and possessions. If those get trimmed for the sake of cultural sensitivity, it's not the end of the world.
