Quote# 84872

The stay-at-home-daughters movement, which is promoted by Vision Forum, encourages young girls and single women to forgo college and outside employment in favor of training as “keepers at home” until they marry. Young women pursuing their own ambitions and goals are viewed as selfish and antifamily; marriage is not a choice or one piece of a larger life plan, but the ultimate goal. Stay-at-home daughters spend their days learning “advanced homemaking” skills, such as cooking and sewing, and other skills that at one time were a necessity -- knitting, crocheting, soap- and candle-making. A father is considered his daughter’s authority until he transfers control to her husband.

So instead of going to college and making $80 an hour as a biochemist and then using the money to buy clothing, candles and soap made by a 50¢-an-hour third-world piece worker, she should stay home and make them herself?

Yes girls, for heaven's sake, please stay home! Forever!

There are two things I really hate about the USA, and guess which is the biggest one:

The fact that in that country, THIS is considered parental rights and little can be done against it.
NO, the right to make others slaves does not make a land more free. It's not "freedom of religion", it's just tyranny on a small scale and there's no excuse for it to be legal in a land that pretends to be civilised.

Uh... yeah. Good luck getting followers.

Far too many women in college.

Or, from a liberal male perspective, more than enough. :D

Ironically, those girls could probably more food on the table and support families better if they had the freedom to obtain education and equal employment opportunities.

Cooking and sewing are not particularly advanced skills. Maybe next they'll have How To Make Your Own Bed 101?

I can't help but wonder--when the father transfers control, does that mean he gives the husband all of his daughter's passwords? How about the keys to her slave collar and chastity belt?

God damn, I love cooking, sewing, knitting, and crochet. But I'd never consider doing that all day long as a viable alternative to work. Supplementary income from Etsy perhaps.

And why would I want my dad to run my life? His gambling cost the family our house (yeah, that bad) and nearly got us evicted from our slum-lord's apartment before mom divorced him and slowly dragged us back to near-middle class- not easy with four kids and living a nurse's pay. I suppose I should be grateful that I know what kind of man to keep out of the family gene pool.

Well, that's one way to turn back the clock.

I enjoy home arts type activities, but I also enjoy my education and the prospect of having a career one day. And marrying my lady. Not every lady wants to marry a man.

a girls catalog with "costumes" 8-| wow!

I picture teenage girls making soap or baking while wearing a french maid outfit .

Pardon, I am just going to use some BrainBleach(tm) to cleanse those thoughts.

Hey, Thatcher was all right.

Palin failed her Bible knowledge test.

Dont recognise the other one but earrings and pearls are too much for daytime wear.

Fuck you, Doug. How dare you try to keep people down just because they were born without penises. If it's selfish for women to pursue their own ambitions, then it is selfish for men. I'm not even sure how one (yeah, I know he's a crazy prick) can think that someone going after what they want in life is a bad thing (oh, I know, women are supposed to worship penis from the time they're born till they die...what a shitty, boring life).

YOU DON'T OWN YOUR DAUGHTER JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A FUCKING PENIS, YOU FUCKING PRICK. God damn, these fucking dudes piss me off. Oh, also, some of the daughters you have aren't even going to want penis, so...

#1350705 Doubting Thomas
I have no idea why any woman would willingly follow these beliefs other than being brainwashed from birth to live this way.
You know, maybe that explains how Vox Day was able to get married...

@1350391: The upper left photo in the collage #1350860 is of Michelle Bachmann, US Rep (R) Minnesota and candidate for the GOP 2012 Presidential nomination (shudder).

Agree that "Die In A Fire" is way too mild for this creep...what a way to keep everyone ignorant AND impoverished, all at the same time.

Oh, and concur that "Sexists Say..." could well be its own collection.

Say a fundie family has five daughters. Realistically, how would they completely financially support all five of them into their early 20, especially in a one-income family? Not only is this anti-female by eliminating the choice of young women, but it's overly idealistic. Obviously the people behind it don't understand that money doesn't grow on trees.

CHECKMATE'S PICS:

TOP LEFT: Michele Bachmann, U.S. Senator & crazy ditz extraordinaire. Married to a big lumpy guy who's rather gaydar-inducing. Get's "The Duke" mixed-up with a deranged clown/serial killer.

TOP RIGHT: Sarah Palin, another ditz who quit being Governor of Alaska mid-term & (like Bachmann) has the IQ of a sock.

BOTTOM LEFT: Condelezza "Condi" Rice. Dubya's Secretary of State & personal sycophant-girl. Became that position when Secretary of State Colin Powell came to his senses & quit.

BOTTOM RIGHT: Margaret Thatcher. Former British Prime Minister & overall British national disaster.

I'd like to see a LOT MORE women in politics....but not these goofs.

The hell? Those kind of skills are piss easy to learn. The real attraction of this is having a live in sex slave, nanny, and house keeper incapable of ever leaving.

@#1350979

There are many ways of making this affordable. No health or dental care. The girls must make their clothes from scraps. Eat only gruel once a day. Sell the daughters bodies. See? Simple.
