Quote# 84883

Atheism and Agnosticism... Begins with Doubts...

Damaged emotions... rejection, trauma, or lack of love in early life
Obliterated trust... no confidence in authority figures
Unrealistic expectations... faulty thinking about God and religion
Buried belief... no all-powerful God of love
Twisted truth... significance comes from what I do
Seared consciences... calloused to the touch of God

... and Ends with Denial!

Oh look, Christians are trying to be cute.

You know, I'm probably the most happy, well-adjusted person I know, so I think it's hilarious whenever a Christian tells me that the only reason I'm an atheist is because I have emotional issues.

... And as a follow-up question, why does he need the stupidest people on earth to incessantly and badly attempt to make the case for his existence?

You would think, at some point, being all-powerful and all, He would have put the Word out, "Shut up, you're not helping."

That's a shitty acrostic and an even worse backronym.

If you can't deal with the fact that doubt occurs, well, that's your problem. I'm quite comfortable with the fact that there may not be a god, or that he may not be Jesus/Yahweh/Allah, or even masculine in pronoun. I'm okay with that.

I'm trying to figure out exactly how it's possible to have "unrealistic expectations" of an omnipotent being.

OK, here's one of my own (this is on my iPhone so I can't bold or italicize)

Dreary arguments that are easily refuted
Unable to comprehend a life without blind devotion to a sky pixie
Making people follow your death cult religion
Bigotry
Asshattery in all forms
Sheep-like mentality
Sanctimony and self righteousness

..................that's what you are.

I made teh mistake of following the link: I wish I hadn't - the amount of circular argument and repetition made me embarrassed for the writer.

If that is what passes for critical thinking among the apologists then the only thing we have to fear is the ignorant mob.

And no amount of cursive typefaces not biblical quotes can save it!

I honestly can't see any possible point to this sort of gibberish.

It's not going to convert anyone.
("By Jove, you're right - I did believe in God all along! Silly me.")

It's not going to halt the slide of anyone losing their faith.

And it's not going to deepen the faith of anyone who is already a Christian.

As far as I can tell this sort of thing is just a mean spirited exercise in pride ("We're better than atheists - yay us!") and pointlessly insulting those you disagree with.

Which seems pretty much the opposite of loving your enemy.

"Atheism and Agnosticism... Begins..." with non-indoctrination.

We know that pastors, particularly those of a more fundamentalist persuasion, are likely to be lying toss pots. Indeed, they are among the least trustworthy of all authority figures, since their circularly thinking fantasy minds seek, at all costs, to spread their unwholesome influence as far as possible so that their earthly powers and wealth can grow, thereby enabling the better expression of their base ideals and inhumane lunatic mayhem. In other words, they mirror the nasty, childish foibles of their self-invented fantasy Bible God. Lies to the fore! Let self entitlement be our goal! We puny goat lordlings will hold sway!

Let's take it one by one, shall we:

"Damaged emotions... rejection, trauma, or lack of love in early life"

Raised by loving parents as a spoiled, only child. Nope.

"Obliterated trust... no confidence in authority figures"

I trust my parents. Nope.

"Unrealistic expectations... faulty thinking about God and religion"

God doesn't exist. Religion is the #1 reason of conflict in the world. Facts. Nope.

"Buried belief... no all-powerful God of love"

Exactly. That's the whole point of atheism.

"Twisted truth... significance comes from what I do"

Significance comes primarily from observed facts. Nope.

"Seared consciences... calloused to the touch of God"

Why should I have any emotion towards an imaginary entity? Nope.

Christianity... Begins with Faith...

Failure to come up with any evidence
Absolutism
Intolerance of people with different beliefs
Thinking is not allowed
Hilariously bad logic

...Ends with willful ignorance and self-righteousness!

You would think, at some point, being all-powerful and all, He would have put the Word out, "Shut up, you're not helping."

As a comedian (can't remember his name) once said in his routine (emphasis added), 'If God is the most powerful being in the universe, why does he need a bunch of bozos to do his P.R.?'

Something else ended with 'Faith':

...which required someone who began with 'V'.

@tmarcl

And yet, Tom Paris could - albeit for a short while. Go figure.

@Norman

"You are all homosexuals"

I'm homosexual? Hmmm... I must discuss this, the next time I have sex with my girlfriend.

OR:

I like women, so that makes me a Lesbian. But, since 'There Are No Women On The Internet' [/4chan], that makes me a man. But as it's only women I have a sexual attraction for, I guess that makes me purely heterosexual. Oh, and speaking as an Englishman...:

I've never smoked in my life, so no thanks. But pork meatballs are a tasty, traditional, nourishing and wholesome foodstuff, however.

(*places note on Norman's charred corpse, which reads*):

'Sincerely, and with kind regards, your friendly neighbourhood Argument Annihilator'

...oh, and excuse the mess.
