Quote# 85041

When a woman walks down a crowded sidewalk in revealing clothing, she is forcing herself on every man nearby.

The woman fully understands the powerful biological drives of men. She knows they cannot ignore her, not even if they want to.

She has chosen to advertise herself to everyone passing by, but she is looking only for a few men. The wealthiest, the most famous, the most powerful men she can attract. Yet her display is bound to be noticed by hundreds of men in whom she has no conceivable romantic interest.

For her, advertising to the whole world is a no-brainer: you never know who might be watching. It’s perfectly well in her interests to flaunt herself. But what serves her needs is not necessarily good for others.

There’s an old elementary school custom…when you bring something tasty to class, it’s understood that you should put it away unless you intend to share it with others. [...]

Somehow, they are unable to understand that women exposing themselves without intent to reciprocate the attention they attract is impolite and inconsiderate – an act of aggression in which they use the power of their sex as a weapon. They publicly and proudly demonstrate callous disregard towards others without the faintest understanding that common courtesy is a two-way street…

Oh, shut the fuck up. You use the farce that you can't control yourself because people are willing to believe it, and you can therefore use it as a cover. It's not that you can't control yourself; it's that you don't want to.

If you can't control it, then why is it that you can wait until your victim is alone before you act, you fucking waste of human flesh.

Women don't dress for you, or at least, not all of them dress for you. They dress for themselves, they dress because they feel good in what they're wearing, and some of them dress for other women.

God damn, you are not this stupid. I agree that putting it away is a great idea - how about you start with your dick?

I think his username translates as John the Damned and the website name translates as In Bad Faith. That is setting my Poe meter twitching a bit, but on the other hand it could be a marriage made in heaven. If he means what he says, he's a dick who should be damned to stay a virgin for life.

I don't care if a woman is walking down the street completely naked, you should have enough self-control to keep from jumping on her like she's the last chopper out of 'Nam.

Typical fundie rape apologist. So, dickhead, what's your excuse for men who rape women who are covered from head to foot?

Your nickname - Damned John. How apt.

But how is it that people like you offload your own libidinous drives onto others. You have a responsibility to control you sex drive. And if you can't, then get some porn magazines and wank before you leave the house every morning.

In a way I kind of identify with the sentiment of these two paragraphs. I hasten to add I don't force my attention on women who are not interested in me, but it does get a tad uncomfortable when women dress revealingly... it can raise my temperature and cause me to become excited, regardless of who she wanted to attract. So what do I do? I just shrug and walk on. I can be a gentleman even if my eyes are drawn forcefully. I wish women wouldn't dress a way that excites me like this, but that's their business, not mine.

Sexual attraction is powerful, yes, but you can be the master of your own life and not be an uncontrollable slave to your urges.

Of course it could never be the guys fault that he can't control his urges. It has to be the women that are at fault. Wow, things haven't changed since they blamed us for the Adam and Eve thing. Why are fundys so scared of the power of the might y 'V'?

You realize that not all women who dress provocatively are looking to attract men, right?

If not, I'm sure Portia De Rossi wishes to have a word with you.

Don't blame the fact that you can't control yourself on a woman wearing something sexy. Fucking knuckle dragger.

Ahem:

At an anime convention several years ago, I had the privilege of spotting this delightful lady cosplaying as Eclair, from the Sci-Fi anime series "Kiddy Grade". We got to talking, and (as I should've guessed, natch, re. this particular character), like me, she is an enthusiast of all things Keiji Gotoh (his past anime series he's worked on as key animator, as well as character designs/directing episodes/series for, pre-his own production company 'gimik'). Of course, Eclair being her favourite character in what is Gotoh's own labour of love; certainly the detail of the costume she'd made, and even - taking into account of the anime itself - the fanservice aspects of such (the hemline being short; the cutout in front, and of it being cross-shaped etc).

Said cosplayer is a Christian (just not the fundie type, that's all).

On no occasion was she unduly propositioned by anyone, least of all yours truly (except asked being to pose for photographers, as she did so for me).

I love the smell of annihilared arguments in the morning. Smells like... victory.

PROTIP: Just be glad your argument hasn't been 'Absorbed' by Alv & Dvergr, Gio! >:D [/otaku]

Since so many men keep saying they can't control themselves, how about we lock you up and/or castrate you? For the good of society? It could be arranged.

Giovanni, if you get mad that they aren't in your lap and want to rape, they are NOT "asking for it" and you cannot blame them for your frustration being expressed as the urge to destroy something beautiful.

Elementary school? Grow up.

He didn't say anything about rape, you all seem to be overreacting with preconcieved notions. I happen to agree with him that it's rude for women to dress overly revealingly. This doesn't make me a rapist, i'm just an unattractive guy who would prefer not to be constantly reminded of what i'm missing out on. It's like someone walking through a poor neighbourhood displaying an ipod and a 1000 dollar phone and lots of expensive jewellry. it's not about whether they might get mugged, but the fact that they should have better manners and more self awareness. Modesty is not just for religious whackos people, it's about being polite and showing restraint even though nobody is forcing you to.

There are very homely guys who don't mind seeing lovely women walking around, no matter what they're wearing. Presumably they have better self-esteem than you, which allows them to relax instead of whining about what they can't have (besides, wasn't there some study that determined that men only dream about the 10s and 9s in their lives, but usually find 6s, 7s, and 8s to be just the ticket for dating and such?).
