Quote# 85074

The book of Revelation confirms we are headed toward a radical persecution of believers, as the kingdom of antichrist will kill innumerable amounts of people who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Already, Christians are considered by many to be less than human and as the cause of the world’s woes. It is very likely that as it was in the days of Rome, where Christians were sacrificed as objects of entertainment in spectator sports, that modern day alternative sports, like the WWF, are warming up an aggressive hostility that will ultimately culminate in televised Christian persecutions. Network executives will do anything for high ratings, and to a depraved people devoid of the Spirit of God, pay-per-view death games would quickly catch on.

Yup! Just checked. Jason's perfectly correct. The book of Revelation does indeed forecast major headaches for humankind. Whew! That was a close one. It's a good job that the predictions of the Bible are a load of damp squibs and have about as much legitimacy as the Bible's so-called factual content. But no wonder it's called The Black Book of Death.

"The book of Revelation confirms we are headed toward a radical persecution of believers, as the kingdom of antichrist will kill innumerable amounts of people who hold to the testimony of Jesus."

"Already, Christians are considered by many to be less than human and as the cause of the world’s woes."

Because you are (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_terrorism), and you are (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scandals_involving_evangelical_Christians). And in that order. NEXT!

"It is very likely that as it was in the days of Rome, where Christians were sacrificed as objects of entertainment in spectator sports, that modern day alternative sports, like the WWF"

Whoa nelly, hold yer horses there! What fucking rock have you been living under the last decade or so? Why the fuck do you think that pantomime for rednecks had to change it's name to 'WWE'?! Because they tried to sue the World Wildlife Fund over the use of the letters 'WWF', and lost. Ergo, you FAIL too. QED.

...and WWE is a 'sport'...?!:

Oh no more, please Mr. Wilde, I am bereft of ribs! A question if I may, Jason: does professional Boxing require 'bookers', 'storylines', and 'Kayfabe', to maintain it's huge PPV sales? If your answer is the only one possible, not only have you completely annihilated your argument, but the WWE can never justify it's existence as it is today. One word: Competition.

PROTIP: People can tell the difference between what is fact (Boxing, Cornish/Turkish/Mongolian/Greco-Roman Wrestling, Muay Thai, Full-contact Karate/Tae Kwon-Do, Sumo etc), and Lies (WWE/WCW/Impact etc). Much like, say, "On The Origin of Species" and The Bible.

"are warming up an aggressive hostility that will ultimately culminate in televised Christian persecutions."

Persecuting others not exactly like you (LGBT people etc) is not a human right.. Equal rights for all people under the law (PROTIP: Romans 13:1-5) is. Now get over yourselves, already.

"Network executives will do anything for high ratings, and to a depraved people devoid of the Spirit of God, pay-per-view death games would quickly catch on."

Why? Are you volunteering...? Can't justify that 'Persecution Complex' of yours, nay, even have the right to say you're being 'persecuted' if you don't...! >:D

Persecution: Marching 6 million Jews to their death.

Not Persecution: Telling a Baptist he can't post the Ten Commandments in the courthouse.

You idiots aren't happy unless you believe you're being persecuted, aren't you? It's actually hilarious when you realize how many fucking churches there are throughout the United States; you can't swing a cat without hitting one.
As for the Book of Revelation, anyone familiar with its origins (that would be actual scholars, not fundies) knows that it was an analogy about the persecution of Christians in Rome under Nero.
In other words, ancient history, not future history.

1. TV wrestling is not a sport, it's theater. That's why, several years ago, they changed the name from WWF to WWE; World wrestling Entertainment.

2. Name one American Christian who has been fired, much less persecuted, because of their faith. (NOTE: This would not include fundies who insist on preaching while on the clock and rolling eyes and giggles are not persecution.)

Awwwww, someone has a persecution complaex. If you want to know about persecution ask the Jews.

Try being a non-christian in the damn bible belt, and THEN maybe you can bitch to me about being persecuted!

This radical persecution of Christians occurred early on, up to the fourth century or so. Ever since then, Christians have been the persecutors.

I think you mean it predicts. It's only confirmed when it actually happens...

To the fundies, prediction, no matter who does the predicting or how outlandish the prediction is, equals confirmation. For example, "my neighbor Alan said the Jews and Zoroastrians are plotting to turn the population of Louisiana into gay atheists" is proof that such a cabal has been formed and that they're doing just that.

Okay, so, according to Revelation 13, yeah, the Beast and the Dragon will persecute you, but that will be *after* all of the natural disasters and the death of a third part of humanity.

That has not happened yet, so your post is irrelevant.

If you're not actually being persecuted, just pretend I suppose.

Do you live in Iran?

If yes, I feel for you, and I hope for the best.

If no, then shut up. You are NOT persecuted, especially not in America, where people like you continue to get in the way of gay rights.

I find it probable that, during the days of Rome, not many Christians died just because they were Christian. To be clear, feeding people to lions, not cool.

Christians were non-conforming, quarrelsome law breakers. Even in the story of Jesus, we have a man going around killing trees, upsetting business, whipping people, calling women dogs, and stealing donkeys. Today, Christians and non-Christians would agree to lock the guy up.

Anyway, as fun as it is to poke and laugh, in a Christian vs. non-Christian showdown, the Christians have far greater numbers and would win hands-down. Stop being a moron.

First off, Kovar got one thing right. It actually is "revelation" singular for the title of that book.

The something funny, a bunch of people here state that they don't know any atheists who think Christians are less human. But you do!

Anonymoose:

""Already, Christians are considered by many to be less than human and as the cause of the world’s woes."

Because you are (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_terrorism), and you are (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scandals_involving_evangelical_Christians). And in that order. NEXT! "

I think anyone has the potential to hate anyone else. The point about Christians being persecuted is still pretty silly though...

Do we really have that many lions around to be able to put on a new version of throwing Christians to them? I doubt it.

OTOH, if we indulged in a rapid breeding programme we might, in about 20 years, be able to satisfy Jason's martyrdom (read S&M) cravings.

And that shuld make the WWF happy.
