Though we will forbid the teaching of homosexuality and the public acceptance of it, we will be fair to the homosexuals.  This is our way.  As we constantly say, if they keep it home, if they keep it private, it does very little harm.  It's only when they start declaring "I'm gay, I'm proud, accept me as I am!" that they become the enemy.  Because they can never be accepted as they are.  If they keep it quiet it will be tolerated.  If they go public we will Fight them. However, we also want to be fair.  Those that understand that what they do is unacceptable but can't keep from doing it will be protected.  We will never allow abuse.  That is something the world had better understand.  Because we get very, very nasty to abusers of any kind!

Ted Faggard apologist?

Forcing people to hide the way they were born in the closet is abuse too, Gerald.

From the frozen north, Death cometh

Because undermining other people's rights is fun!

"If they go public we will Fight them. However, we also want to be fair. Those that understand that what they do is unacceptable but can't keep from doing it will be protected. We will never allow abuse. That is something the world had better understand. Because we get very, very nasty to abusers of any kind!"

I'm not sure you know how abuse works, dear sir. Let me guess. It's not abusing when you do it?

"However, we also want to be fair. Those that understand that what they do is unacceptable but can't keep from doing it will be protected."

Hence bigotted fundtards like you, Gerald, also get the benefits of freedom of speech.

You might want to check your mirror for an abuser.

Might be grasping straws here, but at least he says they can still be gay in the privacy of their own homes.

Baby steps, people, baby steps.

With all of your articles repetitively coming from this position, you seem to be just a little too focused on homosexuality...

Mister SPak

Though we will forbid the teaching of christianity and the public acceptance of it, we will be fair to the christianists. This is our way. As we constantly say, if they keep it home, if they keep it private, it does very little harm. It's only when they start declaring "I'm saved, I'm proud, accept me as I am!" that they become the enemy.

Sure does sound nice and "fair" to force them to live in secrecy.

If he had a heart, at least it would be in right place, I guess.

Though we will forbid the teaching of left handedness and the public acceptance of it, we will be fair to the left handed. This is our way. As we constantly say, if they keep it home, if they keep it private, it does very little harm. It's only when they start declaring "I'm a lefty, I'm proud, accept me as I am!" that they become the enemy.

Yet if we so much as tell a True(TM) Christian to shut up (after they preach on and on about the same thing) they immediately cry persecution.

Because it is well known that the pontifications of the mentally ill set the standard by which a democratic and healthy nation should be judged.

Perhaps Gerald could help further the causes of tolerance and non-abuse by chatting some more with God and passing on any useful tips gained to the rest of his fellows. Meanwhile, Mrs. Polley can continue her spiritual communications with John Lennon and pass on some more of his smash hits about peace and love and, I have no doubt, tolerance.

Mr. and Mrs. Polley, of inestimable service to their country. How lucky for America that its mentally ill are working so hard for its democratic future.

Really? And just how many heterosexual priests have you 'gotten nasty' with so far?

You're never going to be in a position to forbid anything, sunshine.

12/7/2011 7:47:47 AM

Gerald, it sounds like you're supporting a police state. Nothing's more "abusive" than that.

So delightfully patronizing.

So in other words, since "don't ask, don't tell" worked so well for the military, you want to make it a law for everyone? And what exactly constitutes "keeping it at home in private?" Does two men going out to dinner constitute "going public?" While some people here praise him for at least not condemning gay people outright, what Gerald is proposing is making gay people have to hide every aspect of their sexual orientation, making it so that two people who love each other can't express it in public. While he isn't of the "let's throw them all in jail" crowd, he still wants to treat them like second class citizens who are allowed only some of the freedoms that everyone else enjoys.

I know Gerald is a psychotic lunatic, but unfortunately there are a lot of people who will agree with his idea.

Though we will forbid the teaching of religious fundamentalism and the public acceptance of it, we will be fair to the religionists. This is our way. As we constantly say, if they keep it home, if they keep it private, it does very little harm. It's only when they start declaring "I'm a fanatic, I'm proud, accept me as I am!" that they become the enemy. Because they can never be accepted as they are. If they keep it quiet it will be tolerated. If they go public we will Fight them. However, we also want to be fair. Those that understand that what they do is unacceptable but can't keep from doing it will be protected. We will never allow abuse. That is something the world had better understand. FIXED! J

In all seriousness though, maybe it'd be good for you to sober up from your fascist 'spirit voices' to figure out what the real problem is.

You may be mentally ill, Gerald, which is why I usually generally object to having your posts here, but this particular post is an exception because, frankly, the state of one’s mental health does not excuse any of their homophobia or other bigotry unless that person were, say, under a mental-illness-induced paranoid delusion that all LGBT people (or some other minority) were out to kill them or something; however, I don’t think your perception of reality is distorted to the point that you are incapable of knowing better here (your post suggests quite the opposite, in fact), so this technicality is moot.

Then again, I have put up with a shitload of homophobia to the point that my tolerance for it is almost completely nonexistent.

I'm gay, and I can't really work up much outrage about this. For a fundie, this is actually pretty tolerant! XD One step at a time, we're getting there.

@Tina: This sort of “not that bad” thing just feels like Stockholm Syndrome to me. Society doesn’t expect heterosexuals to keep their heterosexuality “at home” because “they can never be accepted as they are.” He says he won’t tolerate abuse, but this conflicts with the arguably abusive nature of oppressing a minority and demanding that they keep their difference out of the public eye.

...but, like I said before, living in the Deep South has has worn my tolerance very thin for any of this sort of thing, so I could just be being overly harsh of him.

Though we will forbid the teaching of fundamentalist Christian bigotry and the public acceptance of it, we will be fair to the fundies. This is our way. As we constantly say - via Matthew 6:6 - if they keep it home, if they keep it private, it does very little harm. It's only when they start declaring "I'm a Christian! I'm special! And you must do whatever I say!!" that they become the enemy. Because they can never be accepted as they are. If they keep it quiet - as the Quakers do - it will be tolerated. If they go public we will Fight them. However, we also want to be fair. Those that understand that what they do is unacceptable but can't keep from doing it won't be protected. We will never allow their political insinuation. That is something the fundies had better understand. Because we get very, very nasty to fundies of any kind!

Oh boy, it's Mr. Polley, God's choice for president, speaking more nonsense. If I had a nickel for every time he's on an idiotic rampage, I would buy his domain from underneath him.
