Christianity is reason and logic, reason and logic are threats to the Atheistic world view. Christianity = threat to Atheism...

Um, no, no, and again NO!
Though there is one thing he somehow got right: Fundi christianity = threat to atheism (and anybody else who has different opinions, human rights, the onstitutions of most modern nations, and so on)
That isn't quite right either, Gloranor, True Christians(TM) are a threat to atheists. Atheism is an ideal, and can't be defeated, but as far as that goes, Atheism, and the ideas of science that it usually represent present more of a threat to the christian idea, since we are able to explain more and more, and all the folks that would begin on the road to fundyism through god-of-the-gaps are disuaded, and it will become that for a fundy to come into existence, they will have to live under a rock to be able to avoid all the disproval of their holy books, and such. Like other ideals though, Christianity at the very least, will be resilient to detruction.
And apparently this one has infinite irony, because my irony meter is still going. You are going to have to make your own guys, it isn't patented or anything, and i just made it out of spare parts: mostly my old ironymeter, a clock and one of those stroke counters some people use in golf.
And furthermore, black is white, up is down, and 2 + 2 = 5. Take that, Atheists!
"And furthermore, black is white, up is down, and 2 + 2 = 5. Take that, Atheists!
"
In a photo negative, On the south pole of a globe, and using absolute values, integers, and floating points one could easily argue that 2 + 2 = 5 :
abs(a) + abs(b)= abs(c)
abs(2.4) + abs(2.4) = abs(4.8)
or 2 + 2 = 5
Ok, ok, its not actually true as you tinker with the formula to get a given result, but this is the kind of thing fundy logic revolves around.
"Second, there is no rule that I know of that says abs(a) + abs(b) = abs(a + b)."
If would be neat if there were:
abs(1)=1
abs(-1)=1
2=1+1=abs(1)+abs(-1)=abs(1-1)=abs(0)=0
But what Just Rick meant wasn't the absolute value, but the integer part.
Luckily, there's no rule that says that int(a)+int(b)=int(a+b) either.
Sorry Yahweh, you are correct, I meant to use Int rather than Abs. On the other hand, if I attempted to pursue the use of "fundie logic" I could probably come up with a valid argument to use Abs over Int. But my mind might not recover if I stray that close to fundie madness.
"Christianity is reason and logic, reason and logic are threats to the Atheistic world view. Christianity = threat to Atheism..."
the correct thing to say would be Christianity = the absence of logic and reason, and Atheism = the search for truth, logic and reason
Sure, a deity splitting himself into three parts and getting one of them killed is logical. The idea that since one part of itself was killed and resurrected, the other part of itself will throw only some humans into a lake of fire is reasonable.
Or maybe not.
I'm thinking of designing, building, and marketing, an irony-powered electricity generator, or better an irony powered engine. Anyone want to invest?
Cue signage.
Despite the faux-logic arguments of William Laing Craig and other posers there are repeated condemnations of logic and reality based ideology from fundamentalist churchs.
There is no logical reason to believe in the supernatural claims of anyone, there is no evidence that the supernatural exists or influences the world now or in the past. Only illogical, irrrational unsubstantiated belief in mythical ideas.
@Just Rick
...But my mind might not recover if I stray that close to fundie madness.
Now there's a plan; a Fundie Madness Meter.
I've lost so many irony meters here it's no longer funny. A badge like the radiation warnings might help. It should be visible so your friends could warn you, or perhaps a bell or siren. Also you could see the amount of FM in strangers, so as to steer clear if they approach.
Say, f'rinstance, you're reading some Fundie Drivel and some small part of it seems to make sense to you. Siren time! Get out! Or you're driving along, minding your own business, listening to a Carl tape, or a Carlin and you inadvertently turn onto a Crystal Cathedral street. As you come ever more dangerously close to the total mind numbness permeating the atmosphere your warner increases in intensity...and if it's hooked up to your car, the steering wheel starts pulling for a U-ie.
Now I'm wondering if a fail-safe would be a good idea; just in case your mind does rot and you start mumbling to the ceiling a hand grenade goes off, rapturing your dumb ass automatically, saving all around you years of anguish.
I'll get to work on it...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
