Quote# 85783

What the Bible is saying is that one who does not believe is both stupid and blind. He does not see what there is to see. Not only is he blind, but he is also likely to act blindly. He does not recognize any purpose in existence, and is therefore likely to act without direction. He does not recognize Truth, and is apt to do everything wrong. He is so unperceptive that he cannot be trusted. He says that there is no God because he is a fool. He is too blind to see God all around him; or else he is too selfish to share his own world with its Creator.

In the entire Bible, you will not find a single philosophical argument for the existence of God. It is simply assumed. The Bible does not waste time trying to convince the atheist that he is wrong. He is considered a fool, too dull to understand, or too wicked to want to.

Man Called True

Every time people call atheists fools, I think back to the other half of that "The fool sayeth in their heart..." quote:

"And he who sayeth 'Thou fool' is in danger of Hell."

Justanotheratheist

The last thing known to mankind that could convince an atheist that he is wrong is the bible. There's so much wrong with it it's amazing to think that anybody old enough to pee by themselves can believe a thing it says.

OK so basically you're just insulting nonbelievers. What else ya got?

Really, I'm not worried about being called a fool by a book which requires its followers to believe in a talking snake an impossible global flood story. I'll just enjoy the irony.

And you know what happens when you assume...

Yes, it is obvious to all right thinking and sensible people that the odorless, silent, insubstantial and invisible magic fairy that leaves no trace and who judges us when we are naughty totally exists!

Good for you (pats Aryeh's pointy head).

So, it's my fault that I don't believe in god because there's no evidence, but there's no evidence because god won't give any anyway?

1/29/2012 12:27:39 PM

whatever

"In the entire Bible, you will not find a single philosophical argument for the existence of God."

That's because the Bible is presented as God doing the talking.

In the entire Koran, you will not find a single philosophical argument for the existence of Allah. It is simply assumed. The Koran does not waste time trying to convince the infidel that he is wrong. He is considered a fool, too dull to understand, or too wicked to want to.

Sasha, God doesn't need "slaves." Think of it this way. God is the source of all that is good, beautiful, holy and loving in the universe. In fact, the Bible says that God IS love. Thus, to spend eternity with God is to share in eternal happiness; to spend eternity apart from God is to spend eternity in a state of misery, deprived of anything that is good or loving.

Bollox, I'm sorry, I can't give you a Jewish answer. I am not Jewish. I do agree with the Rabbi very strongly on this point, but in general I do not believe modern Judaism is from God. The books of the Old Testament are divinely inspired, so there is still a lot that is godly in the Jewish religion and I sincerely hope that Jews study their Torah, because it is God's word and will ultimately point them to Christ through its prophecies. I'm in the process of writing a letter to witness to a very famous Jewish man, Sasha Cohen, who I admire greatly and feel God is calling, so I am spending a lot of time in the Old Testament, studying the prophecies that point the way to Jesus. Based on my studies in the Old Testament (Jewish Torah), the Rabbi's comment up above is spot on.

So, walking around with a Bible in front of your eyes and ignoring reality, that is to see, to act with direction, to do everything right, to be perceptive and unselfish?

I'd rather be blind then, thank you...

"In the entire Bible, you will not find a single philosophical argument for the existence of God. It is simply assumed. The Bible does not waste time trying to convince the atheist that he is wrong."

The Bible? Surely you mean the Torah, 'Rabbi'. After all, the Bible - which contains the New Testament - mentions Jesus, who you're not supposed to acknowledge as the 'Messiah'. And as the Bible categorically states that Jesus - the not-Messiah of all (non)Messianic Jews ('Jews for Jesus') - is one part of God (via the Trinity), you've just contradicted your claim that 'In the entire Bible, you will not find a single philosophical argument for the existence of God', and Q.E.D.' the argument of we Atheists; what we've been saying all along.

...besides, a mere book is not evidence. Any & all claims have to be backed up be testable, falsifiable, provable evidence (otherwise, "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" would be in the non-fiction sections of bookshops/libraries; and the USAF would have Stargates for real, just by visiting branches of Ikea). And you have none whatsoever. 'Rabbi'.

If you're a 'Rabbi', then my niece's pet bunny is El-Ahrairah. [/hyper-sarcasm] [/"Watership Down"]

--EDIT--

Oh, and look who's come a-crawling out from under her bridge to molest some more goats, with what she thinks is an 'opinion'. Okay, now point out on this doll where the nasty secular world touched you, dearie...?! >:D

And as for that 'letter' to Sacha Baron Cohen, oh, I'm suuuuuure he'll give your heartfelt communication to him all the attention it truly deserves, seeing as - like me - he's British, and as you know, the British sense of irony & cynicism (PROTIP: his characters 'Ali G', 'Borat' & 'Brüno') is extremely rare amongst our populace; as to be almost nonexistent here. [/Doug Piranha-levels of sarcasm]

"I'm in the process of writing a letter to witness to a very famous Jewish man, Sasha Cohen, who I admire greatly and feel God is calling"

'who I admire greatly and feel God is calling'? Well, you* do, you poor, poor, deluded schizophrenic idiot:

(emphasis added):

'According to Baron Cohen, "I wouldn't say that I am a religious Jew, but I'm still proud to be Jewish". However, he keeps kosher and attends synagogue about twice a year'

Then afterwards he'll file it in the round file...! >:D

Moral: Ah, the 'faith' of the deluded fundie. It knows no... well, it knows nothing:

*- In my locale, there used to be - among the various other coach companies - one in particular called 'Good News Travel', founded & owned by an ex-local municipal coach driver-turned devout Christian. Whilst he did the normal hired coach runs, trips to various parts of the country (and even pilgrimage holidays to Jerusalem for Christians), so far so ordinary.

Then one day he went all David Icke, and somehow got the bizarre idea into his head that if he were to transport all the Jews in Russia to Israel, then the Second Coming would happen.

Suffice to say, that before long 'Good News Travel' went bust, said owner was ultimately sectioned under the Mental Health Act (what with his increasingly insane fundie behaviour at AGMs; and how his aforementioned activities were detrimental to the company's share value/premiums to the shareholders, leading to them having said owner sectioned), sold at a loss, and what was left of the company, especially the vehicles, then bought for a song, and fortunately the staff re-employed & assimilated into National Express, the UK's biggest coach firm.

The CEO of National Express plc is an Atheist.

Actually, you were the one who recommended Bruno, remember? I'm sure you thought it would upset me, but I thought it was cute and actually appreciate how Mr. Cohen is calling attention to homosexuality through his over-the-top comedy. Some of the sexuality was pretty gross and I did skip a few scenes (like when he was having sex with the small asian man using different sex toys), but I believe Cohen is trying to call attention to the depravity of the homosexual lifestyle, so I saw the movie as kind of a comedic expose on the gay lifestyle. I know that Cohen is not religious, but when he "converts" to Christianity in Borat, there's just something in his eyes that says it's more than comedy, particularly when he keeps talking about his "friend Jesus." I felt God speaking to me when I saw that he scene and saying that He's working in Mr. Cohen's heart to move him towards a greater understanding of Christ. Wouldn't it be great if he could use his amazing comedy talents to share the gospel and give testimony to his own salvation? I believe God is going to use Cohen in mighty ways in the years ahead if he turns his life over to Christ.

Following your logic, there isn't a single philosophical argument for the existence of Allah or the gods in the Rig Veda and you haven't turned into a Muslim or a Hindu, am I right?. And second, maybe your Thora doesn't have one, but many literature, both Christian and Jew and even Muslim(in the Middle Ages)did(Averroes, Thomas of Aquinas, Maimonides.......among others), so, well, maybe a little research doesn't hurt.

"I do agree with the Rabbi very strongly on this point"

...but he would disagree with you even more that your 'Jesus' is the Messiah. Because - as would Sacha Baron Cohen - (non-Messianic; 'Jews for Jesus') Jews - ultra-orthodox to modern Liberal Judaism - refuse to acknowledge the Judeo-Christian 'Jesus' as a figure (albeit an important one) in the Abrahamic religion that is modern Christianity.

PROTIP: Islam - another of the Abrahamic religions (and you don't have the right to deny that Islam isn't; you're not a Professor of Theology) acknowledge 'Jesus' as an important prophet. Just not the final prophet, Mohammed.

"I believe Cohen is trying to call attention to the depravity of the homosexual lifestyle"

USA: The land Irony forgot.

"I know that Cohen is not religious, but when he "converts" to Christianity in Borat, there's just something in his eyes that says it's more than comedy, particularly when he keeps talking about his "friend Jesus."

Borat Sagdiyev is a 'character'. Y'know, that which is played by an actor. So his 'conversion' is just as genuine as the 'competition' in WWE (a.k.a. 'Pantomime for Rednecks'). Again, the 'faith' of the deluded fundie. It knows no... well, it knows nothing.

"I felt God speaking to me when I saw that he scene and saying that He's working in Mr. Cohen's heart to move him towards a greater understanding of Christ."

Yeah, Someone else thought they had a direct line to the 'Man Upstairs'. Y'know, dearie, Joan of Arc. These days, it's known as Schizophrenia; as in psychologists determining that you have a mental handicap in thinking that your 'internal dialogue' is someone else.

-Dr. Silberman (Earl Boen), "The Terminator"

"Wouldn't it be great if he could use his amazing comedy talents to share the gospel and give testimony to his own salvation?"

'If.' [/Spartan Laconic Wit]

"I believe God is going to use Cohen in mighty ways in the years ahead if he turns his life over to Christ."

'I believe'. I refer you to the pic of Becky "Jesus Camp" Fischer in my previous comment. Also, 'If.' [/Spartan Laconic Wit II]

In conclusion: Yeah. If Mr. Baron Cohen even reads your so-called 'letter'. Remember (emphasis added):

'Baron Cohen is fiercely private'

I (don't need to) believe that, via his agent/P.R., unless the messages/e-mails/letters/etc are from only those known personally to Sacha Baron Cohen, your so-called 'letter' won't even get to him, but will be filed in the round file before such would be brought to his attention. As in ignored.

There isn't even a personal site link in that Wiki entry; nor even an unofficial fan club, never mind an official one. That fact alone reinforces how fiercely private he is.

So, re. that 'letter'. Good luck with that. [/hyper-sarcasm]

Incidentally, when you've done creating drama in this thread, are you going to abandon this one, just as you've done before, when you know you've lost the argument? But then, as per your previous track record, along with your 'belief' & 'faith'-based mental handicap (certainly your record of mendacity), you've exhibited a fetish for intellectual masochism; time and again coming to FSTDT with what you think is an 'opinion', only for such to be logically kerbstomped into oblivion.

Then slinking away with your 'faith' tail between your legs, only to re-emerge from under your bridge to molest some more goats with what you think is an 'opinion'*, to create more drama. In quote threads that have absolutely no relevance to you personally, yet, in a thread of a quote by you, you're conspicuous by your absence. Whassamatter dearie? When the intellectual going gets tough - or you know you'll never get anyone in FSTDT round to your way of thinking & thus lose the argument (ergo, proving that you, your so-called 'beliefs', the book of fairytales such are based on are wrong, and therefore your 'God' doesn't exist), you just fuck off, never to try and argue the toss further - because you know that if you dared try to answer our charges against you & your 'religion' to our satisfaction, your 'beliefs' would be annihilated, and would have no choice but to become an Atheist yourself.

I'd have thought - if you claimed to read that Bible of yours - you'd have read Matthew 10:14, and what it means. Certainly relating to you & FSTDT. Otherwise, your continued bridge-dwelling/goat-molesting/drama-creating here proves what I've always said about you: you're a mentally handicapped fundie freak who is nothing more than a sad, pathetic attention-seeker. (Question: have you converted just one commenter here in FSTDT to your way of thinking? No? QED, then). You know how to prove me wrong, however: as per Matthew 10:14: shake that dust from your feet. And acknowledge that you're not welcome here in FSTDT. As trolls like you would have been IP permabanned from all other conventional forums/boards before now.

...or mayhaps that's why you keep returning here...? You = Carico.

And I'd be a bit more choosy about whose Jewish doctrines you follow dearie, considering what's quoted here. As proven here**. If, like Daniel Lapin, Aryeh Kaplan is a 'Rabbi', then Lord Sacks here in the UK is the Archbishop of Canterbury. [/hyper-sarcasm]

Remember: (non-Messianic)Jews don't acknowledge your 'Jesus' as the Messiah, and never will.

*- Okay, now point out to us on the doll where the nasty homosexuals & their 'agenda' touched you. [/hyper-sarcasm]

"Wouldn't it be great if he could use his amazing comedy talents to share the gospel and give testimony to his own salvation?"

Like I say: 'If.' [/Spartan Laconic Wit]

...which reminds me, I watched (waiting for the XLVI Superbowl on BBC1) the film "300". I think this image sums up what you & your ilk should expect to face:

Ultimately, you Xtian fundies are on a hiding to nothing. Xerxes became a mere footnote in history, overshadowed by Alexander. The might of King Leonidas & his 300 Spartans are remembered to this day: a steadfast & fearless symbol of freedom against the vile corruption of evil that wishes to enslave others in it's unjustifiable doctrine called fundie religion; headed by a 'god' that has (nonexistent) feet of dust, that will blow away like all other insane superstitions with cultic 'followers' who dare to think they have ideas above their station, and think they have the right to force those poisonous 'ideas' called the Bible, and impose a worse than Islamic theocracy via insinuating itself into the democratic political system. Which the Spartans were fighting to defend: Democracy, as invented by the ancient Greeks.

As I've stated previously, your light is dying (certainly proved by the way the Teabaggers/GOP are imploding; especially post-2008). Secularism's, nay Atheistic freedom's star is in the ascendant. But you just keep thinking otherwise, dearie.

I refer you to that representing 'Faith' in the above pic.

It illustrates perfectly how you've abandoned previous threads, turning tail & chickening out, when you can't defeat the more than infinitely superior & impenetrable Atheist phalanx of Logic, Facts, and Reason.

Facts-based Reason annihilates 'Faith'. Every time. Like I say, dearie: if you dared continue all our previous arguments you tried against us, answering our charges against your pitiful 'beliefs' to our satisfaction, based on logic, facts, reason & evidence, your 'faith' would be uttely destroyed, and you'd have no choice but to recant your unjustifiable 'faith', and become an Atheist.

You & your 'beliefs' have lost the argument before they even started. Because they can never justify their existence. Like I say, the fact you keep coming back proves you have an intellectual masochism, attention-seeking-based mental handicap. Otherwise, you'd obey Matthew 10:14, and never come back to FSTDT.

Want to prove me wrong, re. that intellectual masochism & attention-seeking mental handicap of yours, dearie...? Or simply prove me right, whenever you deign to show your troll face round these parts again, as if nothing'd happened before, re. having your arguments logically kerbstomped into oblivion (and therefore proving that we're right, and everything you say/'believe' is wrong [therefore proving that your 'God' doesn't exist]? As Dr. Shrinker said in a previous thread, the ball's in your court, miss.

--EDIT--

@Feral Dog

Good point there, and appreciate the re-education. Hey, Xerxes, Alexander, Ramses II, the Roman emperors et al were overshadowed by the British Empire (yep, we fell too), as will the USA (PROTIP: All great powers fall. No Exceptions.). Militarily, the Spartans then, the SAS today.

It's rumoured there are a few gay men in the SAS (which fucks up the notion of fundies that gay men =/= martial strength).

Reality.

Which annihilates the bullshit of fundies every time.

Otherwise, we wouldn't have the modern world we have today. We certainly wouldn't be having this sort of conversation today, if not for the invention of one certain homosexual, Atheist man:

Alan Turing.

Ah, the irony of fundie homophobe bigots & haters of anyone not exactly like them using something developed by the very target of their bigotry & hatred, and if not for him, wouldn't be able to spew their homophobic hate & bigotry via such. 'Tis exquisitely sweet.

PROTIP: Every second you use that invention of a gay Atheist, you become the minion of Satan, Troll/Poe/Nuts4Life. >:D

Nope, not seeing on those computer components 'Made by God' on them. And I work in a computer shop, building the very things.

The Bible condones slavery too.

@ Anon-e-moose:

Usually agree with you bro but the 1) Xerxes was not a historical footnote- he was an important figure in Persian history and 2) Spartans were NOT awesome people. They didn't like democracy or intellectualism, had their government arranged in such a way that it was nearly impossible to change a law, and if Leonidas had killed some hapless Helot slave instead of a wolf that would add about 1000 accuracy points to the movie given that Helot-slaughter was the final test of manhood for a Spartan.
