Quote# 85853

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

"If a housefly falls into the drink of anyone of you, he should immerse it completely in the liquid, then remove it, for one of its wings has the disease and the other has the cure."

This Hadith means that the fly carries on one of its wings a disease, and on the other a cure from the same disease. When a fly falls into a container (of food or drink), it puts forward the wing carrying the microbe, as a self-defense. Imam Ibn Hajar said in his commentary on the hadith that one of the scholars observed that the fly protects itself with its left wing, so it can be deduced that it carries the cure or the antidote on the right wing. So if the fly is immersed in whatever it falls on, the antidote will destroy the venom or the microbe with the will of Allah.

...A group of Muslim researchers in Egypt and Saudi Arabia carried several experiments on containers of water, honey and different juices. They exposed them to the flies. Then they immersed some flies in some of these containers. The microscopic examination showed that the liquids in which no flies were immersed were full of bacteria and viruses, while the others where the flies were totally immersed had none.

I see Muslim research has fallen a bit since the days of Ibn Rushd and Al-Khwarzimi. This lends new meaning to the term "fly in the ointment".

The Prophet (Pedobear upon him) said.... Oh to hell with that shit. I get annnoyed with people like posters here who go on about how great "Islamic Science" used to be. Religious science is a contradiction in terms. You mean science done by people who happened to live in Muslim societies, and advances are made in spite of relion, not bec ause of it. Religion may sometimes provide financial resources, philosophical motivation, and groups of guys with plenty of time to breed peaplants and count the hybrids, but the actual myths and dogmas themselves can only do nothing but be a deadweight on progress. Baghdad was only the light of civilization when it was cosmopolitan and notexcessively religios, before Islam turned superfundie.

Your story reminds me of the guy who claimed he could change the molecular structure of water by placing it on a piece of paper on which he had written the word "love".

He didn't have any actual studies to back up his ridiculous claims, either.

Pics or it didn't happen. Or at the very least, kindly show researchers' report on their findings, or it didn't happen.

Ew. Nothing, not even hard scientific evidence instead of a sky daddy, could ever convince me to dunk flies in my drinks.

This makes me sad because science in the Muslim world used to be great. (For the guy who posted above me, check out this link, it actually was very advanced. http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/feb/01/islamic-science And I don't think that the scientists themselves were actually part of the Muslim clergy, so technically it isn't Islamic science, it's science that was pioneered by Muslims. I could be wrong though). Now they have this shit.

I don't believe you because this rule only applies to phlegmatic flies. It's a statistical impossibility that you did not have any sanguine, choleric, or melancholy flies in your sample unless YOU CHEATED!

Absolute bullshit. As an entomologist I can say with certainty that flies carry disease. They do not simultaneously carry a cure on one wing. Furthermore, whatever disease or diseases they carry is dependent upon what they were recently feeding in/on (carrion, feces, garbage, etc.) The koran is full of something flies feed upon ---- horse shit.

I bet they start selling these flies on infomercials for $19.95. And they'll include a wonderful nightlight as an added gift. But wait! If you call within the next 20 minutes, they'll DOUBLE YOUR ORDER!!. You only have to pay additional shipping and handling. Have your credit cards ready. Here's how to order.

Let's assume for a moment that the fly does that with it's wings.

That doesn't neutralize they huge ammount of disease in it's legs thanks to standing and eating fecal matter.

Just admit the Koran doesn't have science right. The Bible has scientific errors, too, like four-legged insects and fowl.
