O'Reilly calls the One Million Moms action [to have Ellen Degeneres fired as J.C. Penney's spokesperson] a form of McCarthyism and a "witch hunt".

Says Rios: "It isn’t about Ellen Degeneres, but it is about mainstreaming something that is not acceptable to Christian and traditional family people all over the country."

Asks O'Reilly: "What is the difference between a McCarthy-era Communist blacklist and the Million Moms saying hey, JC Penney, don't you hire any gay people. Don't you dare. What is the difference?"

Says Rios: "The problem is that Ellen DeGeneres has chosen to act out her lesbian lifestyle, marry her partner, and what that represents...we are seeing homosexuality so embedded in our culture in alarming ways.”

Can't believe I'm on Papa Bear's side on something, and he's exaggerating a bit, but he's right that the anti-Ellen crowd is terrible. Rios, you and your ilk have to learn that you do not get to decide how the rest of us want to live our lives. I happen to be a fan of Ellen and don't understand why the only thing people think about her is that she's gay. So what? I mean honestly, when I remember her orientation I just get jealous that she has Portia all to herself. :(

Bill O'Reilly is actually a human being. Who'd have thought?

My chin hit the floor when I saw this presented on Ellen's show last week. Absolutely incredible and it renews my faith in humanity. It truly supports Ellen's mantra--be kind to one another.

Be excellent to one another has always worked for me. Party on, dude.

Bill O'Reilly...

*slow clap*

I'm always amazed at the number of Americans for whom the acceptance of homosexuality in society seems to be the single-most important issue affecting them today.
You have record unemployment, an economy in tatters, an education system that has seen better days, politicians more interested in helping themselves that doing their jobs, and THIS is what you choose to focus on?
What are you people on?

Asks O'Reilly: "What is the difference between a McCarthy-era Communist blacklist and AL Queda saying hey, JC Penney, don't you hire any christian people. Don't you dare. What is the difference?"

Says Rios: "The problem is that Christian people have chosen to act out their infidel lifestyle, drink their alcohol, and what that represents...we are seeing christianity so embedded in our culture in alarming ways.”

Perhaps this perspective will show you how much you are like communist muslims.

So...what's the difference? You never said, which I'm assuming means that you don't think there is a difference.

I have chosen to act out my straight lifestyle, marry my partner, and what that represents. Heterosexuality is much, much more embedded in our culture in alarming ways.

Many Christian families manage to accept people who are not carbon copies of themselves.

I thought you said that it ISN'T about Ellen DeGeneres.

That's right, folks! She's subverting the natural order by doing such horribly perverted things as having a successful career and getting married!! Oh the humanity!!

dionysus

Wait, Bill O'Reilly? As in the guy on Fox News? Holy crap! Maybe there's hope for people after all.

2/13/2012 7:00:51 AM

Mister Spak

@Dionysus:

No there is no hope for people after all.
O'Rielly and Rios agreed that O'Rielly would ask that question because Rios already had a slick answer all ready to go.

Faux news shows are fiction with a prepared script, not real interviews.

Bill O'Reilly acting as the voice of reason?

The US really is going nuts.

I think Bill is actually completely wrong about this. I have no problem with Ellen being a spokesperson, and I think OMM is a bunch of idiotic bigots, but McCarthyism was instigated from the government, OMM is basically just boycotting. I think their cause is absolutely vile, but it seem vastly different from a McCarthy-esqe blacklist.

I have to say I must commend Bill O'Reilly for standing up to Forty-thousand Fascists, err... "One Million Moms".

So yeah, its McCarthyism

What is this O'Reilly's first name? If it's Bill, I'll be shocked.

"It isn’t about Ellen Degeneres, but it is about mainstreaming something that is not acceptable to Christian and traditional family people all over the country."

I know this will come as a shock to you, but most people do not give a fuck what is "acceptable" to "Christian and traditional family people."

You are not some sort of moral watchdog for the rest of us. If you don't like it, then don't buy anything from J.C. Penny but don't go trying to regulate shit for the rest of us.

"The problem is that Ellen DeGeneres has chosen to act out her lesbian lifestyle, marry her partner, and what that represents...we are seeing homosexuality so embedded in our culture in alarming ways."

Oh my goodness! Someone different than me! Ruuuun!

People like you are pathetic.

Doubting Thomas

So, basically your problem is that Ellen doesn't get back in the closet and STFU, and instead has the audacity to live her life the way she wants to. Imagine that, them damn queers being able to live openly as gay people? Life was so much better when they were forced to stay in the closet and have random sex encounters in public restrooms.

If I knew that Bill O'Reilly wasn't being facetious, I'd totally agree with him.

It's sad when Billo is the one making sense.

Like I said before: Bill O'Riley is right once in a blue moon.

Of course, the one million moms demands are bigoted even when compared to people "morally opposed" to homosexuality, so it doesn't really surprise me.

Please explain what is alarming about a person being happy in their own skin, finding someone they love very much and choosing to marry that person. Please tell me what that represents outside of "pursuit of happiness". Please tell me why you feel you have the right to deny anyone that pursuit of happiness because you personally don't think that's an acceptable form of happiness.

2/13/2012 8:24:32 AM

Dr. Razark

Damnit, Bill! Why do you have to be decent once in a while? I hate having to agree with you.

"The problem is that Ellen DeGeneres has chosen to act out her lesbian lifestyle, marry her partner, and what that represents..."

And why is that a problem? Did Ellen DeGeneres drag you down to the Justice of the Peace and force you to get gay-married to her? If not, how is it in any way your business?

2/13/2012 8:26:29 AM

Wow, I can't believe he actually had the humanity. And that woman totally looks like a stereotypical rich Christian mom

2/13/2012 8:57:53 AM

farpadokly

In other words, get back in the closet and shut up. Let's pretend it's the fifties.
And I don't get the Million Mom's problem. So what if a lesbian is the spokesperson of a clothing company? Will that make their precious daughters into raging bull dykes? Probably not.
