I say BRAVO, BRAVO!!! Keep up the excellent work! On another note - let's vote out EVERY politician who has yet to take a stand against illegals - even those who speak out but do nothing. I want to see some action taken by our government and I want to see it NOW!!!
Note to any politicians: I used to be a Democrat who became disgusted with the LIberal agenda and became a Republican who became disgusted with the Corporate agenda who is now an Independent Moderate who is disgusted with BOTH parties and will not vote for either. And rest assured, I am not the first nor the last. We are a growing group soon to be in the majority!

They're streaming across the border with Mexico, I don't think they really have to get to Canada first to get into the country. But if you really feel the need to feel like a big man and drive around with guns looking for "illegals" in Ohio, then knock yourself out. But don't be surprised when you're arrested for harassing Hispanic citizens.
And this is why the rest of the world hates America. Only in America are people pathologically obsessed with keeping immigrants out. Sure, there is some hostility towards immigrants in European countries, but not to this level of monomania. Most Americans are hell-bent on not allowing any Hispanic people into the country. This attitude disgusts me. They don't even try to justify it any more. You used to hear the nativists say things such as "my grandparents assimilated into 'Murrica, but the illegals don't!" but I haven't heard that argument, as disingenuous as it may be, in a long time. The hatred of Mexicans is motivated by racism and nothing more. And if hatred of immigrants is something Americans do, then I don't want to be an American.

I'm really starting to understand how the Gnostics arrived at their view of the material universe. You'd think organic life in general regards peace and plenty as capital heresies against reality...

The Gnostics had an accurate idea of the problem, not even an attempt to fix it. That, my friend, is both cowardly and lazy. The world sucks, you make your corner of it not suck to the best of your ability.

The task just got a lot tougher...Although going by our closer kin in the primates (and most anything else), I suppose inclusiveness IS heretical to previous organic life, at least in the literal sense of "heresy" (it comes from the Greek for "choosing one's own way"). YOUNG heresy, too; it's got its work cut out for it.
I never did have any real patience for Gnosticism, in any case (well, I have a little respect for Valentinianism and any other version that understands the Demiurge as not malicious, but merely desperate to keep his creation from falling apart, no matter what it takes). The taint of fatalism/determinism is definitely there...

Brendan Rizzo, try coming to California sometime. We've got a significant Hispanic population, but race riots and the like are few and far between. And perhaps I don't live south enough, but we also don't seem to have any militia nuts waving guns either.

@Brendan Rizzo: There's a big immigration fuss here in the UK as well, mostly against Muslims, though nobody has acted drastically on it yet. They'd rather simmer and complain, but I don't think the hatred is any less. Just a different spin on the whole thing.
If they can work their way up to Canada, why don't they just . . . oh, I don't know, stay in the USA if they somehow got into the country? Because there's this big chunk of North America in between Canada and Mexico, last time I checked an atlas...
What makes this racist? Advocating for an orderly immigration process and taking a stand against those who are violating our laws and invading our country is not "racist." I am against illegal immigration and just because most illegals are Mexican doesn't mean that I hate Mexican people. I am just as against illegal immigrants coming here from Europe, Asia or Africa for that matter - it just happens that there are not nearly as many coming from those places since they don't share a border with us. The point here is simply law and order. Our economy is collapsing. We don't have enough resources to support the people living here already. We can't support an alien population too. Plus, the addition of millions of Mexicans serves to radically change the cultural makeup of the country. It's a question we need to look at. What will happen if America becomes a predominantly Catholic, Latin American country?

I'm not saying its a bad thing, just that there needs to be an open, honest public discussion about it. For better or for worse, America will not be the same after Mexicans become a majority here. It's not fair in my opinon for Democrats to advocate bringing millions of immigrants into the country that they know will permanently tip the political landscape in their favor. They are basically buying votes for themselves at the expense of American jobs and that is equivalent to rigging an election and should be illegal.
