Quote# 86112

[One Freeper surprisingly defends Ellen Degeneres--even saying that anti-gay attitudes on the site are bigoted--and promptly gets attacked for it.]

You sure do sound like some kinda liberal, pro-homosexual troll. Or are you just one of the godless anarchists masquerading as a “libertarian”?

We don’t need some lezbo apologist around here. I do not care how nice, generous, or kind Ellen is. That is not the issue. The issue is the social re-engineering underway. I do not want to feel harassed into accepting a sexual perverison, which is exactly how I feel these days.

As a Christian, I believe that homosexuality is a sin. A terrible, terrible sin. I have a right to religious freedom, and I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed by a department store [J.C. Penny].

Well, there you have it. "Religious freedom" means the right to tyrannize eveyone else in thought, word, and deed.

" I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned"

There's your problem right there.

"Or are you just one of the godless anarchists masquerading as a “libertarian”? "

Anarchists were using 'libertarian' to describe themselves for a rather long time. So yeah, I wonder who is masquerading there..

Also, having your beliefs questioned is not going to affect your religious freedom. Stop whining about being persecuted when you aren't.

I wonder how long this post &/or user will last. This past summer when Perry & Bachman (along w/ the wingnut wet-dream possibility of Palin's potential candidacy) entered the GOP Pres. sweepstakes, Freepers made sure that posts even mildly in support of radically liberal RINO Romney were immediately scrubbed.

edit: referring to CMAC51's post in that thread

Beliefs that can't stand up to being questioned or even ridiculed aren't worth being defended.

Religious freedom is so badly worded as a concept.

How about: religion is irrelevant to the law.

Ah, the one sensible person marches into the freeper dungeon only to be sadistically chased by the rabid dogs that live there.

{I have a right to religious freedom, and I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed by a department store [J.C. Penny].}

You seem to think religious freedom means you have a right to your opinions, yet nobody who disagrees with you has a right to theirs. Sorry but, in case you haven't noticed, or read the First Amendment, this country's principles protect their belief system as well. This isn't your lovely fascist theocratic, war-laden freeper dreamworld, so it's high time you wake up and smell the coffee.

So "religious freedom" means that no one other than you has the right to express an opinion or take any action that goes against your beliefs?

Filin De Blanc

Well, my religion holds that lesbians are especially sacred, so you're violating my religious freedom by being a bigot.

See, it's not so nice when it's turned around on you, is it?

As a Christian, I believe that homosexuality is a sin. A terrible, terrible sin.

I'm willing to bet you don't feel the same way about mixing fabrics or eating shellfish, yet they come from the same section of the Bible telling you homosexuality is a sin.
You're a bigoted moron. That is all.

"As a Christian, I believe that homosexuality is a sin. A terrible, terrible sin. I have a right to religious freedom, and I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned..."

As a non-Christian, I believe that homosexuality is normal and that Christianity is a thin disguise for bigotry, misogyny, authoritarianism, misanthropy, selfish behavior, and a host of other evils. Christianity is a terrible, terrible thing. I have a right to religious freedom and I don't appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed by Christians.

I like watching lesbian sex, but lesbians have every right to privacy.

Likewise, I DISlike Freeper extremism, but you have every right to post your ravings.

Most of all, that poster, blue, has every right to be moderate, although I feel distinct pity he's trying it on the most mob-frenzied board in that corner of the interwebs.

Until we know who posted the pro-Ellen comments, I will assume it wasn't a regular user, because no Freeper could not be as vile and hateful as the OP.

I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed by a department store

Here's the crux of the Christian Persecution Complex(tm): that they infer challenges to their beliefs doesn't mean that one was ever implied.

'Cause, ya know, JC Penny's has nothing else to do besides "persecute" Chrisitans by hiring a gay spokesperson. [/sarcasm]

'' I have a right to religious freedom, and I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed by a department store [J.C. Penny].''

Ok, so we have it here in black and white. It's nothing to do with the breakdown of the family or the good of society, you just don't like that there are people who hold different values from you.

Religious freedom as never meant 'the right to tell other people what they can't do'

"As a Christian, I believe that homosexuality is a sin. A terrible, terrible sin."

Based on what, exactly?

There are what, a couple of references to homosexuality in the entire fucking Bible, none of which came from Jesus.

There are, however, numerous references to various other things that you likely do daily that are considered "abominations unto Gawd" or some silly shit.

"I have a right to religious freedom, and I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed by a department store [J.C. Penny]."

They are neither questioning nor "ridiculing" your beliefs you self-centered twit. If you don't like what they're doing, what they sell, or how they sell it then don't fucking shop there you fucking moron. How goddamn hard was that to figure out?

"As a Christian, I believe that homosexuality is a sin. A terrible, terrible sin."

About as big a sin as rape, theft, and murder? Yeah, that's why I have problems with your belief system.

"I have a right to religious freedom, and I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed..."

And I have a right to my own freedoms, which you folks don't seem to respect. You seem to think your freedoms supercede our own, and yet WE'RE the ones seeking special rights and priveleges??!

So, do you make it a point to check into the sexual habits or religious beliefs of everyone acting as a corporate speaker? I've always wondered about Flo and "Mayhem" in those insurance commercials. And let's not say anything about those folks in the Abercrombie & Fitch catalogs.

Doubting Thomas

Typical internet arguing tactic by right-wing bigots. If someone disagrees with you, dismiss them by labeling them a liberal, as if being a liberal means that your views don't count one iota.

I'm really trying to understand how J.C. Penney hiring Ellen is questioning or ridiculing beliefs of homophobic bigots like this idiot. Talk about a persecution complex. And I'll never understand why a major corporation in America would be deliberately anti-Christian in the first place, seeing as how the vast majority of their revenue comes from Christian customers.

@Churchy: I think the AFA or someone actually did protest A&F claiming that one of their catalogs was basically porn.

I don’t appreciate having my beliefs questioned or ridiculed by a department store [J.C. Penny].

J.C. Penney didn't endorse homosexuality, nor does DeGeneres mention it in her ads. They just hired a spokesperson who happens to be gay. Since when is refusing to fire someone you don't like "ridiculing" your beliefs?

If you're a Christian, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to you "You shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets." He didn't add "and don't give homosexuals a job."
