Quote# 86214

You are so wrong on every front. Not one thing you said is correct. YOU are trying to push an atheist propaganda. This country was founded on freedom of religion- the freedom to practice and display your beliefs. It is only modern day atheists that try to remove religion- but yet I find it extremely interesting that the people who don't believe in God and practice no religion are always pushing their agenda in the religion section of papers. Atheism is it's own religion- instead of God you worship money, fame, and yourselves. Just get over it and stop trying to bully Christians, it didn't work for the Romans for that long and it won't work for you. This world has been influenced by Christians for over 2000 years. You can try to attack us, but it will only make us stronger in the long run.

Behold, a bog-standard example of a persecution complex.

You wish. We know you LIKE to be persecuted.

Yes, and you have the freedom to practise and display your beliefs. On your property you can pray 24/7, you can erect a cross as big as you like (or as big as zoning laws will allow) you can build a Buddha statue, a shrine to Ganesh or whatever manner of hokum that helps you sleep at night.

However, the establishment clause means that you can't do any of those things on PUBLIC property, because public property belongs to everybody and the government isn't allowed to have one religion favoured over the thousands of others. Unless you want verses from the Koran displayed alongside passages from the Vedas or the Pali Canon in schools, I'd suggest you profit from the establishment clause just as much as atheists do.

Yes, atheists worship themselves. That's why there are so many atheist televangelists living in mansions on the donations of the faithful and the single richest and most influential man on Earth is an atheist who lies in the Vatican under a big gold hat.

OH WAIT

And wouldn't you think that by now, those pesky pagans would back off and stop asking for their holidays back? WE STOLE THEM FAIR AND SQUARE! GET OVER IT!

This country was founded on freedom of religion- the freedom to practice and display your beliefs.

But it was not founded on the government practicing and displaying your beliefs. That was specifically prohibited in the First Amendment.

> This country was founded on freedom of religion- the freedom to practice and display your beliefs.
> Atheism is it's own religion

Hence, by your own logic, atheists should be free to practice their own religion, right?...

> Just get over it and stop trying to bully Christians

...Oh wait, they're not demanding equal treatment in shadow of Christianity, they're "bullying" people. Right.

> This world has been influenced by Christians for over 2000 years.

Which is why a country where no religion should be given preference was such a remarkable and revolutionary idea, of course. Don't you agree?

"This country was founded on freedom of religion- the freedom to practice and display your beliefs."

True, though you also have the freedom to not practice or display any beliefs.

"It is only modern day atheists that try to remove religion- but yet I find it extremely interesting that the people who don't believe in God and practice no religion are always pushing their agenda in the religion section of papers."

Atheism deals with religion. Where else would their opinions be published?

"Atheism is it's own religion- instead of God you worship money, fame, and yourselves."

Atheism is, by definition, not a religion. I, personally, worship none of those things.

"Just get over it and stop trying to bully Christians, it didn't work for the Romans for that long and it won't work for you."

Actually, it was working quite well for the Romans up until the State became Christian. Oddly enough, not long after that the Empire fell.

I'm just sayin'...

"This world has been influenced by Christians for over 2000 years."

Yes. It has. And it has been influenced by Hindus for, possibly, 6,000 years. Jews have been influencing things for 4,000 years. Pagans were influencing the world before all of you.

So what?

"You can try to attack us, but it will only make us stronger in the long run."

You should look at the religious polls they do occasionally. Not only is Islam growing faster than Christianity, those who state they are "spiritual, but not religious" or simply of "no religion" are also growing in numbers.

"This country was founded on freedom of religion- the freedom to practice and display your beliefs."

Curiously, you leave out that your Bible tells you that Jesus told you NOT to make public display and to pray in private.

"You can try to attack us, but it will only make us stronger in the long run."

Just because we don't want to pay to endorse you religion or care to drink the Kool-Ade of your delusions does not mean that we're attacking you.

P.S. Atheism is a religion in the same way bald is a hair color.

It's been influenced by Malaria for a lot longer, but with a very similar result.

This country was also founded on the freedom to not be forced to practice any religion.

I don't know what "agenda" you think atheists are trying to push... but if you think that atheists are the ones turning people away from religion, you should look at your own religion and try to understand why fewer people are filling the pews on Sunday morning.

Thinking Allowed

Sorry, but the First Amendment says you're wrong.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of grievances.

One more thing...

Pretty much every judge that has ever ruled in favor of supporting the separation of church and state as found in the constitution has been a Christian. These "pro-atheist" rulings have been going on since before you were born. How do you account for that?

As has been said before and will continue to be said (since you religious assholes are so hard of hearing), freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion.

Fundies Make Me Sick

My Irony Meter just exploded. Christians are not persecuted in the US. They never have been. In fact, they've done all the persecuting to minorities of all kinds as well as women for the past 2000 years. And they should be thankful for how good they have it here, because if they spent any length of time in a country where Christians really ARE being persecuted and then came back here, they would stop complaining in a nanosecond.
