RE: Santorum “homophobic,” former Senator says

Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals, however he believes that homosexual ACTS are wrong and sinful.

How is that homophobic?

That is the view of ALL Christians who take the Bible seriously.

It seems to be to Alan Simpson, one has to APPROVE and CELEBRATE same gender sex in order NOT to be called homophobic.

Is that the societal definition now?

Q

The word is tolerate.

One doesn't have to approve of or participate in homosexuality, but we have reached a time where intolerance is beyond the social norm.

Not approve and celebrate, but simply accept and leave them alone.

Edit: Q beat me to it!

I myself believe that anyone, including Santorum can express their disapproval of Homosexuality. However, something rightwingers always do is whine like this when someone exercises their freedom of speech to express their opposing view.

Sanatorum doesn't just say he's against the lifestyle, He LIES about every aspect of it, he makes up shit or borrows it from dishonest sources and acts like it's not only fact but is destroying the country.

Sites like FreeRepublic are such a damn bad joke, spreading lies and denying others rebuttle, then pretending they represent freedom of speech.

I have nothing against Christians, it's just when they perform Christian acts in public and shove their lifestyle down my throat that I get offended.

Kinda sucks to throw your own words back at you doesn't it?

This is sounding an awful lot like that "hate the sin; love the sinner" excuse fundies give. Funny how it ONLY applies to non-fundies, even though fundies themselves sin every waking moment of their lives...

I remember Alan Simpson, the kind of man who would have curdled Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla with a glance at 50 yards. Nonetheless, he'd have surely regarded Santorum's constant clatfart about other people's f*ing as a G. D. waste of time when the country has real problems to worry about.

How would you feel if someone said, "I don't hate you. I just hate everything you do."

"Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals, however he believes that homosexual ACTS are wrong and sinful.

How is that homophobic? "

Um, OK. Try this?

Obama said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against christians, however he believes that christian ACTS are wrong and sinful.

How is that anti-christian?

Is the light starting to dawn? Or is your stupid the super dense black hole variety?

My religious beliefs state that while I have nothing against black people, them being emancipated and having the right to vote is a sin.

How is that racist?

DISCLAIMER: The views expressed above are not my views but rather are a parody of the fundie to prove a point.

Believing that two people are wrong just for enjoying sex with someone of the same gender is homophobic. No matter how you want to paint it up with religion to make it look nicer, it's still homophobia. Because you know what? Many religions are homophobic.

FR, we have reached a point where people can tell the difference between "completely immoral" and "immoral, but shouldn't be illegal".

The second quote is the main reason liberal Christians in favor of gay marriage exist.

Homosexuals are people who perform homosexual acts. They are one and the same, idiot!

The only thing you have to do to not be called a homophobe is to tolerate their existence.
I don't approve and celebrate intentionally gullible fools who believe in ancient fairy tales, but I still tolerate their existence.
If they want to stay stupid, it's their prerogative.

Most Christians take the Bible as a collection of allegorical stories, never meant to be taken litterally.

"Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals, however he believes that homosexual ACTS are wrong and sinful."

Isn't this a bit like saying, "I have nothing against black people, I just believe that having dark skin is wrong and sinful"?

"How is that homophobic?"

You really need someone to explain this to you?

"That is the view of ALL Christians who take the Bible seriously."

No Christian takes the Bible seriously. If they did, they would be following all of the rules and not just ones that reinforce their personal prejudices.

"It seems to be to Alan Simpson, one has to APPROVE and CELEBRATE same gender sex in order NOT to be called homophobic."

Or you could, you know, mind your own fucking business and not make any comment at all.

"Is that the societal definition now?"

No. Simple tolerance will suffice.

"That is the view of ALL Christians who take the Bible seriously."

We know that the Bible is wrong and mostly evil, therefore it's not difficult to understand why most Christians who take it seriously are wrong and mostly evil too.

It's homophobic. You can't truly tolerate gays if you won't tolerate what they do. It's like saying "I have nothing against black people, but I don't like them for being uppity (N word)s!"

"Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals, however he believes that homosexual ACTS are wrong and sinful.

How is that homophobic?"

I say publicly that I have nothing against religion. However, I acknowledge that right-wing paedophiles should be publicly tortured to death.

And of course, those who profess to be Conservative Repubicans are by definition Christians; after all, just name me one member of the GOP who is an avowed Atheist? Funny then, that there's not word one in condemnation of paedophilia in the Bible. And definitely not in a 'Funny-ha-ha' way, neither.

Professing to be pro-LGBT, yet being homophobic. There's a word for that: Hypocrisy. Learn that word, it could save your life. Certainly your political career, (P)Rick.

Santorum ACTIVELY seeks to have his extreme social agenda implemented into our country's policies, law and Constitution. Other candidates, like Paul, who personally believe in only one man, one woman marriage, believe more in the rights and freedoms of others and don't seek an aggressive 'moral' nanny state, hence, why Santorum is much more likely to be said to be 'homophobic'.

3/1/2012 9:32:02 AM

Sick Rantorum is homophobic because he would deny a basic right, the pursuit of happiness, to gay people. Period. End of story.

3/1/2012 10:00:50 AM

I'm sorry Rick, but prefacing an anti-gay rant with the words "I have nothing against gays..." doesn't work. It never worked. Go and slink back into whatever hole in the dirt spawned you.

"Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals, however he believes that homosexual ACTS are wrong and sinful.

How is that homophobic?"

It's homophobis in that believing homosexual acts to be sinful and wrong, and discriminating against those who practice homosexual acts, he is being homophobic. It's like saying you have nothing against Japanese people as long as they don't behave as Japanese or come from Japan.

Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals

Mr. Super-Duper-Christian Santorum seems to have forgotten that lying is a sin and that it will bring him right down into Hell with an express ticket.

I don't believe one fucking word of "he has nothing against homosexuals". Of course he does.

He should stop lying and start practicing what he preeches about christianity. A sin is a sin, period, full stop.

Fucking hypocrite.

>Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals, however he believes that homosexual ACTS are wrong and sinful.

The old "love the sinner, hate the sin" gambit. But I don't see how it is the state's business what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home.

Republicans want government small enough to fit in your bedroom.

I don't hate Christians, just that filthy, perverted Christianity they insist on practicing.

3/1/2012 2:30:00 PM

Santorum said PUBLICLY that he has nothing against homosexuals, however he believes that homosexual ACTS are wrong and sinful. How is that homophobic?

Because he doesn't stop with "homosexual acts are wrong and sinful". He continues on with "... and therefore it's the government's job to try and discourage it."

Check a fucking dictionary. Homophobia doesn't mean a fear of homosexuals, it means an intolerance of homosexuals, which you and good ol' Frothy Mixture demonstrate in spades.
