I'd love to see this research... but I doubt it exists. Incidentally, those diseases can only be contracted if you sleep with someone positive for the infections and you're not wearing protection... and the depression, stalking, etc are perfectly possible in a monogamous marriage.

It may be a cliche, but far too many people have used the "I don't want to die a virgin" line both for having sex outside of marriage and for jumping into an otherwise ill-advised marriage. That, to me, sounds more like regretting chastity than regretting having sex.

Meanwhile, the downsides of sex WITHIN marriage include:
Pubic crabs
Genital herpes
Genital warts
Gonorrhea
Syphilis
HIV
Rejection
Betrayal
Depression
Stalking
Date rape
Unwanted pregnancy
Abortion
Sometimes suicide.
Occasionally even murder.

"On the other hand, I doubt anyone has regretted chastity."
I doubt that you are aware of the real world.
Brook Shields says if she had known what sex was like she would have done it sooner.

...are the same downsides of sex inside marriage.
I doubt anyone has regretted chastity
What about the 60-year-old virgins who are lonely and depressed who contemplate why they never had sex just before spraying their brains all over the ceiling with a gun? Just because you don't know about them doesn't mean they don't exist.

All of those things happen within marriage too. The certificate and the "I do" won't protect from STDs, rejection, betrayal, depression, stalking, rape, unwanted pregnancies, abortion, suicide or murder.
Then, for heaven's sake, concentrate on the young boys instead of the young girls, stigmatize the young boys for "destroying" a chaste bride-to-be, or whatever stupid idea you can think up. Stop blaming only the girls, ok!
(But I doubt that it's [i]merely(/i] because men demand it, the women probably want to, a little bit too. Why the use of the words "girls" and "men", btw?)
I bet quite a few regret some of the chastity, when they finally found out what fun it is, and how much more fun they could have had.

As another (probably apocryphal) Jewish philosopher once said, "Chastity is its own punishment".

On the other hand, I doubt anyone has regretted chastity.
That's why you never see stories about Catholic priests molesting young boys or stories about Christian teens getting pregnant after getting abstinence-only sex ed.

Why are girls singled out here? Boys are just as vulnerable to STDs if they sleep around a lot. Further proof that religious people don't care about men sleeping around; they just want to control women.
And this, folks, is why even the memory of religion must be completely eradicated.

What about all those promiscuous BOYS, Mr. Double Standard?
Oh, and we ladies can be just as big a horndog as the guys (though we tend to express it in less buffoonish fashion).
Just accept feminine sexuality & it's MAGNIFICENT FEMININE POWER....Remember, the Masculine is a lifeless corpse without THE FEMININE (AdiShakti says so).
Oh, and the sexually active can us protection & be careful about partners to better prevent all those sex-cooties.
Your version of Godde, is DEAD.

Or, people like to have sex because humans have enjoyed it for thousands and thousands of years. Face it, religious conservatives, you'll never, ever be able to keep people from having sex.
I would really like to know how someone suffers depression from having sex a lot.

Fuck, I regret every minute that goes by that I am not having sex.
I'd like to thank this jew for reminding us that christianity isn't the problem. The problem is faith. Of any stripe.

The poor "girls" get these diseases from "men" who contracted them from somewhere. Marriage is not a cootie shot against STDs you fool!
I admit, I regret some sex choices I've made, but not because it was out of marriage, because the guy turned out to be an ass. And most of the time, I wanted sex just as much as the guy, sometimes I wanted it even more.Women usually are more subtle when seduce guys, while guys are just stupid about it!

I'm a virgin, I intend to stay one because it looks like just too much work for stuff I can do myself(complicated, don't ask). But I still recognize that while Abstinence is the best policy, it's not the only one. Kids are dumb, they do dumb things, so the least we can do is give them the tools to be reasonably safe.
Places that have comprehensive sex ed have low teen pregnancies, places that teach abstinence only have *repeat* teen pregnancies. Get the picture?

Hmm....all of these can occur WHEN married too ya putz.
Stalking/date rape(a twofer!)...betreyal
That can lead to depression, then murder and/or suicide(a twofer again!)
A couple not wanting a kid this early in their marriage getting an abortion(yet another twofer!, I'm getting good at this)
Rejection can arise from arranged marriages, or mariage of of convience(ex: people who wanted to keep the kid, but afterwards, well they hate each other)
Pubic crabs, Genital herpes ,Genital warts, Gonorrhea, Syphilis; depening who you talk too, toilet seats
HIV; hmmm cheating(a twofer again!) OR the fact that sometimes, people can be HIV positive b/c their mum was....every think of that ass clown?

"On the other hand, I doubt anyone has regretted chastity."
I'm betting that "jewish philosopher" is a perfect counterexample of this. He's probably either celibate, or in one of those loveless marriages where anniversaries are more frequent than sex. All of the religious bitching about sex always seems to boil down to "if I'm not allowed to have any fun, nobody else should be allowed to, either!"

Currently regretting chastity, kthx. Could really use a lay, too inexperienced/shy to try for one night stands, and currently single.
