Quote# 86580

You don't actually need to MAKE yourself a freeman, the only thing that you need to understand is that you are not your person, which is your ID. The only real LAW we must abide by is to keep the peace and never infringe on another's free will. So if a Policy Enforcement officer pulls you ever, greet him as such, "Good day/evening, are you a peace officer?" Which he will respond affirmatively, to which you respond, "What peace have I disturbed? I have a common law right to travel in the Commonwealth, and this is my private property. Have I breached the peace? No? Good day." Hold your ground, it's only brute force that they may take you out of your car, but you've locked your doors, and through a crack in the window, you've slid him your affidavit of truth, which opens contract, and you refuse to give him jurisdiction over your person, as you are speaking to him as a free man, human being, and not a government created fiction. If your ID says ROBERT LAIDLAW, by all means only go by Robert, of the Laidlaw family. ONly give them your family name if it is absolutely imperative to you keeping your face in one piece. Robert, the human being has the god given right to travel any where, by any means.

The user name makes me think this is a Poe...

Yeah, the username is a dead giveaway. Although there are plenty of Sovereign Citizen nuts who think like this.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Obvious Poe is obvious.

These guys, again.

Doubting Thomas

And when you're thrown in jail for several felonies after you lead police on a high-speed car chase and resist arrest just because some cop wanted to tell you that your taillight was burned out, you can declare your cell your own commonwealth and think about how great it is to be a "freeman."

These freeman schemes never work. Even though you don't think you have to follow the laws, the judicial system and the rest of society disagrees.

If you're an American, you're not a Commonwealth citizen. You guys blew that with the war of independence. Not that being such would help you if you break laws in America, in any case, obviously.

Greater Good

The name seems poe-ish, but I've seen plenty of similar crap that was serious.

This is definitely a Poe. But it's no less insane that the following beliefs claimed by various so-called "Sovereign Citizens":

1. The Federal Courts have no power because their seal features an Egyptian vulture rather than an American Eagle.

2. Any court whose flag has a golden fringe has no authority because such a flag is a "naval" flag.

3. Washington D.C. has no authority over the rest of America because the Beltway surrounding it is shaped like Satan's head.

Pretty much the perfect illustration of Poe's Law.

The difference between a genuine example and a fake in this case is almost non-existent.

Speak for yourself. I'm a citizen of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. One of only four states in the U.S. that are commonwealths.

Okay you do that. See how far you get with the officer and with the courts.

@Bollox It is not a Poe at all. I used to debate people on this site about politics and religion. There are plenty of people just like this.

This is probably a Poe, but there are people who sincerely believe this. I know of at least two podcasts that push this stuff.

We got a few of these here in Ireland. The hilarious part is that (courtesy of their University of YouTube edumacation) they cite Common Law and Magna Carta as the basis for their clam to be 'immune' to statute law!

You're not a free man, you are a number!

Above Top Secret sounds like an awesome sequel to the Val Kilmer movie.
