Quote# 86987

Supported by nearly 300 pages of footnoted documentation of Obama’s radical ideas and actions, [Michael] Savage makes a bold declaration in “Trickle Down Tyranny”: “If Barack Obama is elected for another four-year term, he’ll be president for life. He’ll be the new Hugo Chavez. He’ll do away with the two-term limit and win the 2016 election with 90 percent of the vote.”

Savage goes on to warn: “We have less than six months to make sure this doesn’t happen.”

Asked if he believes Obama intends to extend his power like Venezuela’s Chavez, or whether the statement is rhetorical, Savage replied: “I don’t know. I have no idea. I don’t know. Anything is possible with this gang.”

“Can anyone admit that honestly that they are not afraid of this administration?” he asked. “Can anyone admit to themselves that they feel more free than they did when this gang took over the country?”

Even if a Chavez-style America isn’t a literal reality, he said, Americans should recall that many of the liberal social programs established by President Franklin Roosevelt in the 1930s and by President Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s are still in place.

Ooops, Mr. Savage just exposed the Republicans' real agenda for the last 70 years... Abolishing Social Security and Medicare.

Thank the fuck christ for that!

Funny, that, given the number of Republican administrations that have had the opportunity to remove them ...

This is the most paranoid thing I've ever heard.

Of course, Savage himself likely doesn't believe what he just said. Surely he is aware that in order to do away with the Twenty-Second(?) Amendment, Obama would need the approval of two-thirds of Congress, which, as this current Congress has shown, he will never get. And even if he somehow did get that, he would also need three-fourths of the state legislatures to go along with it... and the red states make up half the country. That's how Bush got elected, remember?

“If Barack Obama is elected for another four-year term, he’ll be president for life. He’ll be the new Hugo Chavez. He’ll do away with the two-term limit and win the 2016 election with 90 percent of the vote.”

I'd really like to see how Michael Savage thinks Obama will pull this off. Or any other conspiracy theorist for that matter. They always said that Clinton was going to declare martial law across the country so that he could stay in power for life, and supposedly the OKC bombing was an inside job so that this could happen. But for some reason it didn't.

“Can anyone admit to themselves that they feel more free than they did when this gang took over the country?”

Probably a bunch of gay people who are now married.

Even if a Chavez-style America isn’t a literal reality, he said, Americans should recall that many of the liberal social programs established by President Franklin Roosevelt in the 1930s and by President Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s are still in place.

Even though there have been several ultra-conservative Republican administrations (like the last one, for instance) which didn't do squat about them. But is Savage really saying that we should allow people to starve and get rid of all civil rights laws?

Yes. That's exactly what he's saying.

I'm not afraid of this administration. I'm sure gay soldiers who no longer have to hide their sexuality feel more free than they did during the Bush administration.

This little schmuck had to change his name to the macho-macho man "Savage". Who would even listen to him if he used his real name,
WEENER!!!

OK, I'll play your silly game. If Obama wanted to be a dictator, why would he allow the 2012 election to take place?

4/20/2012 1:33:22 PM

What with the wars on Iraq, Afghanistan, terror (wtf) and freedom in full swing, I half expected Bush to declare some sort of state of emergancy to remain in power (No, I have no idea if that's even possible under the US system - reading some of the comments, apparently not). Now that at least some of that shit's been sorted out, or recognised as futile, Obama's made it somewhat harder for himself to even try.

Why would he wait until 2016? Why doesn't he just do it now?

Not that I'd expect Michael A. Weiner to have any sense of how reality or America works in his hate-filled mind anyway.

If I were to guess, I'd say Savage would claim Obama would want to create his dictatorship out of a semblance of legitimacy. If re-elected in 2012, he would have that, more so even than he does now.

I guess ol' Mickey here is just admitting that Obama's re-election is inevitable.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're rich, you have yours, therefore, Obama is bad.

Many of the social programs brought in during Democratic administrations are still in place because people need them and basic fairness requires civilized governments to provide them (and really much more.)

To use a term from another Savage, this is a load of santorum.

If Bush didn't do it, Obama won't do it. Admittedly Bush deserted his post four months early,
