Quote# 87063

When students at Norwich University crowed their prom queen, something was missing. That something was a girl. Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. America's oldest private military academy says it prides itself on being unconventional--and last month's "gay prom" proved it. School officials said they wanted to have an "open dialogue" on homosexuality--but what they really had was a party. Unfortunately, this is America's new military. When the President wanted to overturn "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," he didn't talk about flying rainbow flags at Afghan bases or asking chaplains to perform gay "weddings." He didn't mention banning Christian speakers at military academies, tearing down crosses at Camp Pendleton, or pulling Scripture out of Army curriculum. What he said was it's time to let homosexuals be true to who they are. And who they are is a community that thinks promiscuity is something to celebrate. Norwich's "free love dance" and "condom Olympics" aren't tolerance. They're deviance. And a school of young, strong cadets deserve better.

Oh look, another "Not kicking gays out of the military for being gay is the same as forcing every soldier to be sodomized" person. God, don't these guys ever get tired of living in a fantasy world?

Tony. Fuck you. I mean this sincerely.

As far as I am concerned, a soldier is a soldier, a good one is good, a bad one is bad.

Your Christian Soldier fantasy can march Onward right over the edge of a cliff.

Surely scripture being part of the army curriculum is a giant fucking waste of time, as it has nothing to do with the army.

Tony has to have something to frighten people with every week, otherwise they don't send him money, which is what this is about, and all it is about.

Also, party on.

I love it how this shitstain doesn't even bother to hide his hypocrisy and contempt of anyone different from him. Even the motto on the website itself reveals this: "Advancing Faith, Family and Freedom".

Faith, as long as your faith doesn't contradict mine; anyone who says their faith advocates tolerance of others isn't allowed.

Family, but only heterosexual two-parent families; any other type of family isn't a "real" family.

Freedom, but only freedom for those people who think exactly like me; everyone else can go fuck themselves.

I'm not even going to bother to address the submission itself, because just from a glance I see nothing but lies, prejudice and stereotypes. Yes Perkins, the icky gays actually have some rights now. Get over it.

So much for christian republicans "supporting the troops."

Isn't it illegal to have scripture be part of the army curriculum?

What part of *private* don't you understand? Now, go home and love your mummy.

Yeah yeah teh gays are so promiscuous, maybe that's why the place with the highest divorce rate in the world is the buckle of the conservative Bible Belt?

" He didn't mention banning Christian speakers at military academies, tearing down crosses at Camp Pendleton, or pulling Scripture out of Army curriculum."

That's because none of that was in the plans. That was only in your persecution fantasies.

Why don't you join your fellow mujahideen in al-queda, they hate homos too.

I have news for you Tony. Gays in the military have been around since the military.

He didn't mention banning Christian speakers at military academies, tearing down crosses at Camp Pendleton, or pulling Scripture out of Army curriculum.

These things are First Amendment issues. They have nothing to do with DADT.

Definition of family:
To normal people: Group of people who love each other regardless of differences.
To fundies: Group of people who only love each other if they are exactly the same as themselves.

You know what? I'm actually starting to wish that you fundies are right about the persecution thing. I'm starting to wish the president DOES start tearing down crosses and churches. I'm starting to hope that you assholes ARE silenced and banned from speaking at public events. I'm starting to hope that you ARE treated as second class citizens, the way you've treated every other minority out there. I know it'll never happen, I know that we don't want to give the government that kind of power, and I know that I believe in freedom enough that I won't be involved in any such movement but if it happened I'd find it very difficult to feel any sympathy for you and I'd be unlikely to help you in any way. It pains me to think that I can be so apathetic to anyone's freedom being taken away but that's how I feel and I also feel that if it DID happen, you and your ilk would have brought it upon yourselves.

Shut up Tony. Your screed is the perfect example of why no one asked for your opinion. Please disappear up your own asshole and take the rest of the alleged Family Research Council with you. I know you've never been able to get past the neck, but I swear, if you just get one arm up there with your head, the rest will follow.

@ dionysus

I want to thank you, you pretty much stated word for word what I have been thinking for some time. You are right though, we can't allow that to happen, and we need to remove the power the government already has that's allowed them to do that to all our fellow Americans. Minorities of all kinds, and women as a whole have been oppressed by the zealots, we need to make sure the zealots don't get knocked TOO far down.

Strong young cadets can go to another old, private military academy.

"Surely scripture being part of the army curriculum is a giant fucking waste of time, as it has nothing to do with the army."

Unless you want to pull the stuff out of the OT where the soldiers get to massacre all the elderly, married women and boys, then kidnap the virgin girls and rape them. I'm sure that would be a valuable lesson in field tactics.

Oh geez. They had a frickin dance. Get over it.

4/24/2012 7:01:14 AM

Yeah, because it was all the closeted gay soldiers who are always involved in those overseas rape scandals.

You know, it's funny. I live close enough to the Norwich campus that it's literally right across the street. I can see it from my window. My grandfather was a professor there. I don't remember there being any gigantic controversies over homosexuality or anything lately. You'd think, considering my proximity, that I'd have heard about it if anyone thought this was a big deal, but apparently nobody cares.

Hey, Tony...did you know you share the same name with a certain gay horror movie actor?

Maybe that's fundie Perkins "Freudian excuse".
