Quote# 8730

Okay, I will surely get yelled at for saying this, but oh well. I question the 19th amendment (gives women the right to vote) often because of what has been accomplished due to that. A lot of women don't always vote by a person's political viewpoint, but on how they look, like Bill Clinton for example, who was "hip" had 4% more votes by women then men, which is a large amount. Let's face it, women make up the majority of the population (51%) so what they vote is what goes (hypothetically). I just don't think a lot of women put enough thought into their votes. Am I trying to portray men any better? No. But I just thought that i'd throw that thought out there.

51% of the population? You think I'd get laid more often...

12/21/2005 9:57:57 PM

If that's the case, why did the Chimp in the suit get in?

bob has had a fundy scumbag (right up his alley I would imagine) in office for the past several years, and he's still complaining about the system?

Women can vote, but only if the vote exactly like the men do. That's how the nineteenth amendment was supposed to work. The nineteenth amendmendt has stopped working because Christianity has been weakened and wives are no longer submitting to their husbands and voting how they are told.

Until wives begin to submit to their husbands again we should suspend the 19th amendment.

ryan, your system would give married men twice as much votes as unmarried men.
Not to mention that your post could be submited as quote to this site.

Darth Wang

Well he was right that he would get yelled at for that.

12/22/2005 1:22:59 AM

So he believes that more women voted for Clinton because they thought he was hot?

12/22/2005 2:02:16 AM

The Last Conformist

Well, that's not exactly an uncommon belief.

12/22/2005 11:49:37 AM

Puisto, I think (not certain) that ryan's post is an attempt to restate bob's with less obfuscation.

Uninformed voting is certainly not restricted to women - nor to men. So many people in the US worry about low voter turnout; I'm the opposite - I know damn well that many of those who are voting don't know a damn thing about any of the candidates except for the party. And I think we'd be a hell of a lot better off if the uninformed didn't vote. Don't think anything can - or should - be done about it (except in the sense that voters voluntarily do so - either informing themselves or abstaining), but there it is.

King Spirula

Well, good ole \"boob\" did indeed, \"throw that thought out there\", and I promptly threw it in the toilet with all the other shit.

12/22/2005 5:35:06 PM

Possible but there's no quotation marks or anything to indicate it's not his own post and I don't know him so I can't say if the post is untypical for him.

12/22/2005 6:34:21 PM

I believe it's closer to 52 percent, actually.

people of any sex vote moronically at times. Why pick on the women? Is he saying that gay men who think W is sexy can't vote? Is this a preamble to a \"women can't be president\" rant, because men would just vote for whoever was hotter?

Furthermore, I'd like to put forward the theory that maybe Clinton's policies were a little less sexist, and that's why more women voted for him.

just fuck off, man.

12/23/2005 1:22:00 AM

Crosis, I agree.
On both points.

He's just angry because his wife left him and his mistress won't bake him a pie.

12/23/2005 8:05:07 PM

If you're not trying to portray men any better, then why is it specifically *women* who don't need the vote?

12/25/2005 3:30:17 PM

Madame Scarlet

Uh... so, if men aren't any better and also do this sort of thing... what's your damn point?

10/2/2006 12:41:13 AM

Puffi Urai(Proud Shintist)

Fuck off and die, asshole.

8/20/2007 11:21:37 PM

Men are 3 times worse about judging based on appearance. You can bet that if more women ran for office lots of men would vote for the hottest woman.

8/20/2007 11:30:35 PM

A lot of PEOPLE, both men and women, don't always vote by a candidate's political viewpoint and sometimes choose a person for the wrong reasons. Ever hear of the televised debate between Kennedy and Nixon?

8/21/2007 12:45:18 PM

So how did Bush get elected then?

8/21/2007 7:15:22 PM

Daddy Bush's political machine pulled out all the stops. Remember how 'Howdy W Doody' rode into DC on the shoulders of the Old Guard? Shit, without Daddy's money, influence, and name, Dubya would probably still be in jail somewhere.

I voted for Mary Carey for CA governor...it turns out, she gravitates toward the repubs...easy money for the good little whores.

It's pretty implicit that bob here voted exactly how FauxNoise told him to vote.

8/21/2007 7:36:11 PM

God Is Real Unless Declared Integer

So, can we please remove the right to vote from assholes like bob?

7/22/2009 5:00:03 AM

Didjaever notice how people who let loose with these shitstorms of stupidty, often precede them with "I will surely blah, blah, blah for saying this, but oh well." or "I don't mean to generalize, but..." or "this might offend some people, but..."?

@ anti-nonsense An unfounded statistic? Isn't that a fundie trick?

7/22/2009 5:15:25 AM

If men are no better, your "point" is pointless, right?

5/25/2017 5:00:21 PM

Jamaican Castle

He's not wrong that some women vote irrationally; he's only wrong in implying that men [i]don't[i/]. Voters of all stripes are notoriously susceptible to the image and presentation of candidates compared to their platforms. Of course, it would be foolish to assume that this is exploited solely by right-wing or left-wing candidates; everybody does it.

Just over a decade later:

Who did you vote for last year, boob...?!
