"All people are loved by God"?
Isn't that some form of cognitive dissonance, considering what he's saying?
5/26/2012 3:45:03 AM
It all becomes more consistent once you assume that this life is worthless.
Why anyone would want to follow this death cult is a different matter.

"and to meet with LGBT groups in Mississippi."
Oh, what the fuck good is that going to do? They'll all kiss and make up, and then hold hands and sing 'Put A Little Love In Your Heart,' or maybe--dare I say it?-- 'We Are the World,' with the whole town joining in? Maybe they'll have a big cookout, a carnival ran by the universe's only honest carnies will show up, and everyone can release balloons, and doves into the clear, blue sky.

If Jesus paid the full price of all of our sins, what's the point in not being gay, then? It won't make a difference.
5/26/2012 4:23:53 AM
Yes. The bible says gays should be put to death. Just like adulterers, people who work on the sabbath, and both the human and animal in a bestiality relationship. All of these are arguments against using the bible as the basis for governing the people.

I wonder if the reverend has ever worn clothes made of mixed fabrics (Deuteronomy 11:22), or ate a shrimp(Leviticus 11:10-11), bacon (Leviticus 11:7), or a hare (Leviticus 11:4).
"But that's all old testament stuff" I hear him cry. Well, so is the condemnation of homosexuality.

What is it with twits making posts like these and then backtracking lately? What part of "social network" don't they get?
5/26/2012 5:18:00 AM
I wonder if he's calling for disobedient children to be put to death, or non-virgin brides, or people with "familiar spirits," or a man who curses while in a dispute with another man, or an engaged woman who is raped in the city. All that is in the Bible too.
5/26/2012 5:45:27 AM
If this guy is caught wearing poly-cotton undies he should definitely be put to death!
Funny how these guys are never consistent when quoting Leviticus!
5/26/2012 5:57:00 AM
"Love thy neighbour as thou love yourself."
"What if they're gay?"
"Did I fucking stutter?"

"Rep. Andy Gipson (R-Braxton) went on Facebook Friday to say that although he has been receiving emails and calls from around the country about his citation of Leviticus 20:13, as well as Romans 1:26-28, in a May 10 Facebook post on President Barack Obama's endorsement of gay marriage, he will not say he's sorry."
I guess in your deep Bible research to find those verses you somehow managed to miss all of those places where Jesus tells you not to be an asshole and, instead, to love your neighbor and that you have no right to judge anyone else.
"'To be clear, I want the world to know that I do not, cannot, and will not apologize for the inspired truth of God's Word. It is one thing that will never 'change,'' Gipson wrote."
I hope you mean that your opinion won't change and not that the Bible doesn't change because, well, it has.
[b]"'Anyone who knows me knows I also believe that all people are created in God's image, and that all people are loved by God, so much so that He gave us the truth of His Word which convicts us of the reality and guilt of our sin, and He gave us His Son Jesus who paid the full penalty for all our sins, by His grace through our faith in Him as we repent of our sin. John 3:16. It is this message that I preach every Sunday. I sincerely pray God will reach someone through this message.'"
This is what's called lip-service. It's also called being a hypocrite. Both will surely serve you well in what will no doubt be a long, dull, and entirely unnoteworthy political career.
"Gipson is a Baptist minister and a business lawyer when not serving in the Legislature. He notes in his official state biography that his family are 'of the Christian faith, and are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.'"
Well then, that explains several things.

IN AMERICA, ONLY HER WAYS ARE DIVINE!
YOUR DEMIURGE IS IMPOTENT, Mr. GIPPY!
How could anyone....
...not love THIS!
5/26/2012 6:39:04 AM
Isn't that some form of cognitive dissonance,
Isn't that some sort of prerequisite for fundamentalism?
5/26/2012 6:47:10 AM
That's it. I hate my fellow Americans beyond any restraint now. This has sent me over the edge. America is truly the antithesis of the other First World countries. Why couldn't I have been born a Canadian? The envy I feel towards Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden is comparable to that Salieri felt towards Mozart. If American politicians are ultra-reactionary, then I do not want to be American.
5/26/2012 6:49:31 AM
Unfit for office.
5/26/2012 6:50:50 AM

Gee, I'm still here! The Demiurge hasn't hit me with a bolt of lightining or heart attack!
I'M STILL HEEEERE!
YOUR FALSE GOD IS DEAD!
5/26/2012 6:59:37 AM
The Bible is something that will never change, except for all the mistranslations, and bowlderization (started with the Bible), and lost manuscripts... Oops!

This is why clergy should not serve in government.
5/26/2012 8:03:42 AM
He's publicly calling out for people to kill innocents. He's obviously a terrorist and should be arrested and put in Gitmo.
5/26/2012 8:55:16 AM
Anyone who thinks like this shouldn't be holding a political office.
5/26/2012 9:08:58 AM
Filin De Blanc
Is this not grounds for impeachment? He's literally advocating the killing of innocent people.
5/26/2012 9:16:27 AM
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Thank your god for secular law!
