I have personally known four gay men so far in my life. Two of them were really cool guys with whom I loved to hang out, and they didn't care one bit that I was* straight - we just got along. The other two I didn't get along with for personal reasons that had nothing to do with their orientation. None of them behaved even remotely like what you describe.
