I firmly believe that only God can heal our land and he is waiting for the American people to wake up to what’s going on around them about a government that is denying God and in doing so is bent on taking away those rights and liberties and freedoms given to us by God, in contradiction to the very organic law from which we are based. I think I learned a lot about the spiritualness of the battle, I never regretted what I did, I did exactly what I knew I was to do and that is to stand firm and not let some federal judge tell me to remove a monument, which he had no right to do anyway.

What they fear most is my acknowledgment of the sovereignty of God. Even the judge on the federal bench didn’t say it was about the Ten Commandments, he said the issue is can the state acknowledge God and in his opinion he said this, ‘while the chief justice is free to keep whatever religious beliefs he chooses, the state may not acknowledge the sovereignty of the Judeo-Christian God and attribute to that God our religious freedom.' When he said that, he violated not only our constitution but the case law of the United States Supreme Court which says our religious freedom comes from God, and if it doesn’t come from God people have to realize we will lose it and that is happening in our country today with Sharia law and the allowance of religious practices for other groups but not Christians.

Free argument and debate will always come out on the side of truth. So if you cut off free argument of debate then error survives and becomes dangerous. You see that in our schools with the teaching of evolution. That is exactly what has gone all the way up to the highest level of our government. The President of the United States talks about his evolving standards, well, when you got evolving standards you don’t have any standards at all to begin with because truth is fixed, when your standard is truth it is not going to change but we see it changing seemingly with our government.

"Even the judge on the federal bench didn’t say it was about the Ten Commandments, he said the issue is can the state acknowledge God "
I bet your opinion would change if the state acknowledged a different god. Allah for example.
"if it doesn’t come from God people have to realize we will lose it and that is happening in our country today with Sharia law and the allowance of religious practices for other groups "
And there it is.
"I think I learned a lot about the spiritualness of the battle, I never regretted what I did, I did exactly what I knew I was to do and that is to stand firm..."
Is it just me, or was anybody else thinking of the Leviathon fundie when they read that?
The closest thing to Sharia Law in the US, is the Biblical Law the fundies want to impose on society.
I think you need to read the US Constitution and its ammendments one more time.
If only Christians have religious freedom, then it is not religious freedom, but religious theocracy.
Scientific studies are not up for public arguments and debates. Evolution has been taught in schools in Europe for about a hundred years.
When you have evolving standards, you can go from thinking slavery is OK, to thinking slavery is inhuman. Are you saying that you are still firmly on the "slavery is OK" side?
I hope you have sold everything you own, and given the money to the poor, as your Lord Jesus commands you to.
This man used to be a judge.
And yet he doesn't understand the First Amendment to the Constitution.
I cannot facepalm hard enough.
And yet, I remember a complaint from a deacon back in 1802/1804/1812/1814 (I forget which) who said that the Constitution was gravely flawed BECAUSE it failed to properly credit God as the source of prosperity. Yes, back then, there were some RTCs who thought the Founders HADN'T BEEN CHRISTIAN ENOUGH. And yet, we seem to now have people who claim the Founders were obvious RTCs...
If I can ever remember his name, I'll be happy to post a link (if the complaint is even on an Internet page--and I don't mean a deep web page) the rest of you can use as an augmentative to the Treaty of Tripoli.

"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions."
"the state may not acknowledge the sovereignty of the Judeo-Christian God and attribute to that God our religious freedom."
The nonsensical nature of that statement completely eludes you, doesn't it?
Moron.
The problem here is that this God you speak of may or may not exist. We can't say that the origin of law and ethics is an entity of whom no evidence exists.
Therefore the fount of the law has to be man.
"If (our religious freedom) doesn't come from God, people have to realize we will lose it". That does not follow.
"that is happening in our country today with Sharia law". I didn't realize that Sharia law had been declared in Alabama.
"the allowance of religious practices for other groups but not Christians". That's.... RELIGIOUS FREEDOM!
"Truth is fixed". That's a good axiom if your ideal is stagnation, backwardness and ignorance.
This is so badly worded and badly reasoned that I assumed it was said by someone with a learning disability or something. I was amazed to click through and read that it was said by a United States Supreme Court Justice.
If you think about the implications of this, the end result of this kind of reasoning, then people like this would have to secede from the United States and set up a theocracy. You cannot serve two masters, as their Bible tells them.
Further to the "truth is fixed" thing, he must be referring to the Bible there, as the truth which is fixed, because the Constitution is not fixed, but can be amended.
Logically, then, what he wants is a Christian theocracy and not a democratic republic with a constitution.
@ DevilsChaplain:
See, this is what I mean. In no European country would anyone this ignorant be ALLOWED to be a Chief Justice. How come every other Western country can speak of the obvious good of secularism but America refuses to move out of the Dark Ages? It doesn't matter if the fundies die off in the future, the very fact that they were allowed to get powerful in the TWENTIETH CENTURY -- the same century that saw every modern country reject religion for the justification of authoritarianism that it is -- proves that Americans, including the people in the blue states, are simply stupid by nature.
"I firmly believe that only God can heal our land and he is waiting for the American people to wake up to what’s going on around them about a government that is denying God and in doing so is bent on taking away those rights and liberties and freedoms given to us by God, in contradiction to the very organic law from which we are based."
You fail English too.
Why is God waiting to heal that banjo on your jerky knee? It looks painful.
@Brendan Rizzo:
Your America-bashing is tiresome and dull.
As a reasonably intelligent, open-minded, non-fundie American, I am sick of your reverse-nationalist whinging & generalizing.
Third: There are fundies in Europe. There are even fundies in POWER in Europe. Look at Tony Blair, ffs.
Outside Europe, there's Australia - whose fundies are just as bad - and just as populous - as ours.
Lastly: You should actually try DOING something - like voting & joining political causes - instead of just mocking & insulting even the decent Americans. If you're not voting or otherwise participating in the system (and are old enough to do so), you're part of the problem.
You take ANY excuse to bash the US, and it's become boring & juvenile. Attack the fundies, not the nation.
I...don't think you understand what the phrase 'religious freedom' means. Given you say it is threatened by non-Christian groups
Apparently when you say it it means 'the freedoms and special rights obtained from religion,' so it wounds like we're talking about the same thing when we're really, really not.
Also: BRENDAN! THAT IS NOT HOW PROOF WORKS! We don't let such illogical statements pass when they're in the featured posts, why do you expect them to get by in the comments? 'Because abortion, therefore atheists eat them.' 'Because complicated sociological factors, therefore GEOGRAPHY MAKES PEOPLE'S GENETICS ACQUIRE STUPIDITY.'
Guess which one is less logical?
"I firmly believe that only God can heal our land and he is waiting for the American people to wake up to what’s going on around them about a government that is denying God and in doing so is bent on taking away those rights and liberties and freedoms given to us by God"
The American People are waking up (albeit slowly), hence the vast popularity of Stephen Colbert & Jon Stewart as well as the now-worldwide Occupy Movement. God has nothing to do with this country. Lady Liberty/Columbia is our Patron Deity! America was inspired by The Enlightenment Movement/Age Of Reason. The Founders had more in common with Voltare than Cromwell.
Wait! That's not what you meant? Well, TOUGH TITTIES!!!
Go soak you head.
Neither the state, the federal government, nor the citizens have to acknowledge the Judeo-Christian God or any other God for that matter because this country was founded on the principle that a person in a free country can believe or disbelieve whatever religious/spiritual system they want and no one can force them to adopt another person's belief. You are wrong and you need to get educated.

"V For Vendetta". 'V'.
Your argument is invalid.
The truth used to be that the earth was flat and that the sun orbited the planet. While the actual truth may never change our understanding and ability to reveal the truth certainly can, and does.
And oh yea, you are a fucking retard.
Confused?
