The closest thing to Sharia Law in the US, is the Biblical Law the fundies want to impose on society.
I think you need to read the US Constitution and its ammendments one more time.
If only Christians have religious freedom, then it is not religious freedom, but religious theocracy.
Scientific studies are not up for public arguments and debates. Evolution has been taught in schools in Europe for about a hundred years.
When you have evolving standards, you can go from thinking slavery is OK, to thinking slavery is inhuman. Are you saying that you are still firmly on the "slavery is OK" side?
I hope you have sold everything you own, and given the money to the poor, as your Lord Jesus commands you to.

And yet, I remember a complaint from a deacon back in 1802/1804/1812/1814 (I forget which) who said that the Constitution was gravely flawed BECAUSE it failed to properly credit God as the source of prosperity. Yes, back then, there were some RTCs who thought the Founders HADN'T BEEN CHRISTIAN ENOUGH. And yet, we seem to now have people who claim the Founders were obvious RTCs...
If I can ever remember his name, I'll be happy to post a link (if the complaint is even on an Internet page--and I don't mean a deep web page) the rest of you can use as an augmentative to the Treaty of Tripoli.

The problem here is that this God you speak of may or may not exist. We can't say that the origin of law and ethics is an entity of whom no evidence exists.
Therefore the fount of the law has to be man.

"that is happening in our country today with Sharia law". I didn't realize that Sharia law had been declared in Alabama.

"Truth is fixed". That's a good axiom if your ideal is stagnation, backwardness and ignorance.
This is so badly worded and badly reasoned that I assumed it was said by someone with a learning disability or something. I was amazed to click through and read that it was said by a United States Supreme Court Justice.

Logically, then, what he wants is a Christian theocracy and not a democratic republic with a constitution.

How come every other Western country can speak of the obvious good of secularism but America refuses to move out of the Dark Ages?
