No one wants to be in an abusive marriage, but if you are a Christian woman the decision to leave or stay is not yours alone. The Lord has a plan for you and if you seek His wisdom, He will show you the way. Just know that if He leads you to remain in the marriage, He will be your strength. In “Our Daily Bread” by RBC Ministries, this sentence brings it home. “Assignments from God always include His enablement.”

If you're in an abusive relationship, divorce the bastard.
And, if a "god" or a church tries to interfere, divorce their sorry asses, too! You don't need them.
My wife's abusive first husband tried to play that 'marriage is a sacred commitment' card when he beat her and (the boys who would become) my sons. She'd be the first to tell you, praying doesn't stop the fists from coming down.
Please stop telling women to stick with abusive shitheads who don't deserve them. I mean, I'm all for saving relationships that can be saved, but if he's abusive and refuses to actively work toward change, then it needs to end.
I'm not sure why, but the fact that this particular abuse-apologist is a woman makes it more unsettling for me.
"No one wants to be in an abusive marriage,"
But you will force them to stay anyways.
How about I send you to Saudi Arabia and force you to stay there?
Wow, having read the article I see its worse than just this. The hypothetical abusive prick had what's known as a Faith Heel Turn. Sorry doll, but most atheists and non believers I know have a significant lead on you in the morality area.
In other words, if your husband is beating you, just shut up and put up with it. If he puts you in the hospital or in your grave, why, that's all part of "the Lord's plan". This is how Christianity enforces disgusting servility and masochism.
It strikes me that this kind of stuff and the radical feminist stuff are at opposite ends of the spectrum, yet at the same time similar. Either complete submission or complete rejection. Either sadism and revenge or masochism and surrender. In both cases there's the satisfaction to be found in a feeling of martyrdom.
Well Darcy Ingrahm, if you're ever kidnapped and get brutally raped repeatedly, do consider not running away from your captor when chance arises. After all, God has a plan for you. Maybe He wants you to get raped bloody? I'm sure He will provide for you in that event.
if you seek His wisdom, He will show you the way. Just know that if He leads you to remain in the marriage, He will ...
Wait a minute, stop right there.
"if He leads you to remain in the marriage"? And just how, pray tell, is one supposed to know if he's "lead[ing] you to remain in the marriage" or not?
Wow, this makes it easy. Just say "I prayed, and the Lord answered me and he is leading me **away** from this marriage, it's God's will".
Who's going to prove you wrong?
The Lord has a plan for you and if you seek His wisdom, He will show you the way.
Baloney. He won't show you spit. God doesn't talk to rational people anymore than Harvey, the Labrador retriever talked to Son-Of-Sam killer David Berkowitz.
Darcy is an ignorant cunt. Any 'god' whoes plan is for you to be screamed at, belittled and degraded emotionally and sexually, or beat by your spouce is also and ingnorant cunt. I was told that Satan wanted to split us up. Seems to me he's the smarter of the two.
@Jezebel's Evil Sister, that's exactly what I did--him and the church. I am better off for it.
What kind of god would want a woman to be in an abusive relationship? The answer is one that does not deserve to be worshipped. I'd also like to point out that encouraging women to stay in abusive relationships is an extremely dangerous and disgusting thing to do because of the psychological and physical harm it causes such women. This should be obvious to anyone with any amount of empathy, but apparently that's not you.
Confused?
