Quote# 87857

No one wants to be in an abusive marriage, but if you are a Christian woman the decision to leave or stay is not yours alone. The Lord has a plan for you and if you seek His wisdom, He will show you the way. Just know that if He leads you to remain in the marriage, He will be your strength. In “Our Daily Bread” by RBC Ministries, this sentence brings it home. “Assignments from God always include His enablement.”

So, just take it on the chin for God, because sometimes he's a miserable prick.

Jezebel's Evil Sister

If you're in an abusive relationship, divorce the bastard.

And, if a "god" or a church tries to interfere, divorce their sorry asses, too! You don't need them.

Besides, staying in an abusive marriage is such good training for eternity in Hell.

It's shocking how cavalier they are about telling you to listen to someone who doesn't manifest in any way. I bet they could write a book on how to go about listening to that which isn't there.

My wife's abusive first husband tried to play that 'marriage is a sacred commitment' card when he beat her and (the boys who would become) my sons. She'd be the first to tell you, praying doesn't stop the fists from coming down.

Please stop telling women to stick with abusive shitheads who don't deserve them. I mean, I'm all for saving relationships that can be saved, but if he's abusive and refuses to actively work toward change, then it needs to end.

I'm not sure why, but the fact that this particular abuse-apologist is a woman makes it more unsettling for me.

6/19/2012 5:31:08 AM

I absolutely abhor faith heads who try to convince abused women to stay with their abuser because to leave would be an affront to God.
Fuck you and fuck your god.

6/19/2012 5:31:55 AM

Yes it is yours alone. Tell him to fuck the fuck off.

Mister Spak

"No one wants to be in an abusive marriage,"

But you will force them to stay anyways.

How about I send you to Saudi Arabia and force you to stay there?

Doubting Thomas

Because God wants you to be unhappy & miserable, chained to the kitchen for the rest of your life, walking on eggshells so your husband doesn't fly off the handle and beat the crap out of you.

6/19/2012 6:16:34 AM

Oh, do tell me more Darcy. This god of yours sounds like a damn good person, totally worth my praise and admiration. </sarcasm>

Persuading women not to end harmful relationships is a sin in itself.

Voice of Humanity

Wow, having read the article I see its worse than just this. The hypothetical abusive prick had what's known as a Faith Heel Turn. Sorry doll, but most atheists and non believers I know have a significant lead on you in the morality area.

I can't fathom how any woman could possibly worship a god that wants her to stay miserable for the rest of her life.

Christianity: the new Stockholm Syndrome.

Brendan Rizzo

So if a man wants to leave a marriage, is the decision his alone?

6/19/2012 6:51:57 AM

Fuck you, Darcy.

6/19/2012 6:58:07 AM

In other words, if your husband is beating you, just shut up and put up with it. If he puts you in the hospital or in your grave, why, that's all part of "the Lord's plan". This is how Christianity enforces disgusting servility and masochism.

6/19/2012 7:13:14 AM

It strikes me that this kind of stuff and the radical feminist stuff are at opposite ends of the spectrum, yet at the same time similar. Either complete submission or complete rejection. Either sadism and revenge or masochism and surrender. In both cases there's the satisfaction to be found in a feeling of martyrdom.

6/19/2012 7:19:38 AM

Well Darcy Ingrahm, if you're ever kidnapped and get brutally raped repeatedly, do consider not running away from your captor when chance arises. After all, God has a plan for you. Maybe He wants you to get raped bloody? I'm sure He will provide for you in that event.

I hope your husband beats the shit out of you.

6/19/2012 7:35:29 AM

So the question becomes: why are any women Christian?

6/19/2012 7:39:34 AM

Stand by your man, until he breaks your legs. And all for a made up deity.
