[Trayvon Martin's parents want Florida legislators to reconsider the "Stand Your Ground" law.]

Nice try, 'parent's' (I use the term very loosely). It's stand your ground and it's about time we stop being victimized by your welfare babies. How many days was it before you noticed your precious little 'angel' was missing?

Trayvon's mother shipped him off to his father because she couldn't control him anymore and his father was too busy with his girlfriend to actually discipline the little thug. At the end of the day, crucifying George Zimmerman won't absolve you from the guilt you should be feeling from your failure to be parents and role models for your son.

In this case the rotten fruit was indicative of the tree it fell from.

@FatBlackMammy - Uncreative user name aside, I find it funny that white conservatives believe they have a God-given right to stalk and chase "people of color" around at night, run after them on foot if they try to get away from the weirdo stalker, and then kill said "person of color" if they dare to defend themselves from a white (or at least non-black) stranger who is engaging in openly aggressive and threatening behavior against them.

About like that idiot in Houston who shot his neighbors for refusing to turn down their music (on their own property) and calling it "self-defense".

BTW, Zimmerman's injuries seem rather mild for being "beaten to death". Not to mention witnesses seem to be backtracking on the whole "beating" thing....Also not mentioning that Zimmerman got into an altercation he started by relentlessly chasing an underage boy at night time.

The ENTIRE WORLD thinks we are violent because of our gun culture, so we must renounce firearms in entirety before we can get our respect back. That dude's neighbors (or Trayvon Martin, come to think of it) would not have been shot in any other Western (or non-Western for that matter) country. I have had it up to here with conservative obfuscation: the US has had more firearm-induced deaths, including school shootings, than every other country combined. Guns have no purpose except to kill other human beings, so nobody should be permitted to own them. Maybe Americans will not be stereotyped as rednecks if owning such a barbarous device carried decades of jail time...

You know, I had to develop some callouses on my sense of humor to deal with the FSTDT sites, and it does get hard to take some of these morons and make an ass of them with my sarcastic words when they've already done such a good job with their real ones.

That being said, this person is providing clear anectodal evidence, citeable in any court in the land, that the person to be blamed for every shooting is the person who got shot. If JFK didn't want to be shot, he shouldn't have been a president. If black people don't want to be shot, they shouldn't ever stand near a white person with a gun, and, by god, if liberalh8ter's father didn't want to be shot, then he shouldn't have been fucking h8ter's sister when it was h8ter's night on the schedule!

@jax - Not only are you clueless about the law you also made several things up. You don't know what the temperature was there (you also left out the fact that it was RAINING) and you have no evidence that Trayvon "looked suspicious". You have no evidence Zimmerman's head was "bashed against the ground" nor that Trayvon tried to take Zimmerman's gun (Zimmerman would have had to have had it out or pointed at Trayvon for him to do such a thing since he couldn't see it tucked away, dumbass).

Other things:
* Stalking a stranger who is on public property not bothering you, then getting out on foot to chase them down is most certainly more than "following" someone. It's Aggravated Stalking and openly aggressive behavior.
* By chasing someone down who obviously does not want to deal with you and running after them when they try to get away from you you give a person rational cause to fear for their safety.
* That neighborhood has no official neighborhood watch.
* Neighborhood watch members are NOT supposed to be armed (look up their bylaws) and are not supposed to confront people they are suspicious of.

* Neighborhood watch members are not Authority figures. They are not cops.
* According to Florida Statute 776.013 you can only claim "Stand Your Ground" if you are the pursuant (the one chasing someone down) if they were on your property.
* According to Florida Statute 704.048 chasing someone is quite unlawful and makes you an aggressor. According to 776.041 an aggressor (which would be Zim) can only claim "self-defense" if they clearly stopped bothering the person and clearly signaled to them they wished to withdraw and made effort to do so. Only then can they use NON-LETHAL force if the person continues to confront them after the aggressor stopped. An aggressor can only use LETHAL force if they were about to die after trying to get out of the situation.

You don't know shit about the Law.

There's absolutely no evidence Trayvon ever sold drugs. He has no history of arrest. On other hand Zimmerman has had plenty of arrests for violence against women a cops, making Zimmyboy the THUG.

This case got nothing to do with race. Media turned it this way, and pseudo-liberals/pseudo-progressives like the two of you morons are keeping up with this charade.

Martin was not followed, approached, or shot because he was black. Had he been a clean-cut black man in a suit and tie, Zimmerman wouldn't have any reason to follow him. He was followed because he looked suspicious. Period. There is no evidence whatsoever that he was followed because he was black, you and other morons make this up.

As for the whole thing about Zimmerman and his neighborhood watch activities, again nothing illegal in any of it. Breaking neighborhood bylaws by carrying a gun is not against the law. Approaching a suspicious looking person in YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD, where you own a house, and asking him what his business there is not illegal or wrong. And defending yourself against a thug who follows you AFTER a confrontation and tries to reach holstered gun is definitely not wrong, and most likely not illegal.

This stuff might not be illegal, but I would call it wrong. Thinking of yourself as a vigilante protecting the neighborhood from black intruders while armed is wrong. Harassing people because they "look suspicious" in your neighborhood is wrong. Refusing to listen to 911 dispatchers when they TELL YOU to stay in your vehicle is wrong and, might I add, stupid.

Also lying about following Zimmerman and grabbing for his gun is wrong. You have offered no evidence that this ever happened. None. There is no eyewitness testimony that was offered to support this. None. That you're willing to jump to the conclusion that the clean-cut Zimmerman is the good guy while Martin was some gangbanging thug only soldifies the notion that you're a racist.

Neither is walking around in one's own neighborhood (technically there is no law against walking around in other people's neighborhoods either). However, Trayon has no legal obligation to answer Zimmerman as not only is Trayvon a member of that community (he lives with his father there from time to time) Zimmerman was not an authority figure. You only have to answer to cops and Zimmerman was not a cop.

CHASING SOMEONE DOWN is unlawful activity (see 704.048). That's very different from "approaching" someone as you like to put it. Chasing down a stranger who is on public property not bothering you and runs away from you is aggressive behavior. By the person running it directly shows they don't wish to be bothered by you or interact with you. Chasing the fleeing person down is aggressive behavior that gives them reasonable cause to believe you mean to harm them.

In fact, Florida DOES have laws against bothering people by chasing fleeing strangers and killing them if they fight back. See "Stand Your Ground" Law 776.013:

(2) The presumption set forth in subsection (1) does not apply if:
(a) The person against whom the defensive force is used has the right to be in or is a lawful resident of the dwelling, residence, or vehicle, such as an owner, lessee, or titleholder, and there is not an injunction for protection from domestic violence or a written pretrial supervision order of no contact against that person;

Trayvon was in his rights to be there and was a lawful resident.

(2) Initially provokes the use of force against himself or herself

Oh my! Look at that! Florida Law agrees with me: It is indeed possible to provoke the use of force against yourself. Zimmerman did exactly that by chasing down a boy who was trying to get away from him. Chasing down someone who is already scared of you (after you trailed them in a vehicle with the lights off at nighttime for several minutes, I'm sure just about anyone would assume Zimmerman was probably a serial killer, psycho stalker or a rapist) is directly aggressive behavior and is a direct provocation of force against yourself.

According to Florida Law Zimmerman would only have the right to use lethal force against Trayvon IF Zimmerman did the following:

(a) Such force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or
(b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force.

Did Zimmerman attempt to do any of this? There is no evidence he did.

Trayvon Martin had self-defense rights too, you know. According to 776.041 Trayvon had the right to defend himself against an aggressor (George Zimmerman) who engaged in behavior that prompted the use of defense force against himself by Trayvon Martin (the person being pursued/chased).

Hence why Stand Your Ground's own author agrees that it doesn't apply to George Zimmerman's defense.

SOME There is video of Zimmerman's arrival at the police station after the shooting. There is no visible blood or bruises on him, and his clothes are not dirty or disheveled. He was supposedly pinned to the ground and beaten up, and his shirt is still tucked in?
