Quote# 88015

[One commenter points out that a mere 60 years ago whites overtly discriminated against black Americans with segregation.]

I take it you are not a Bible reader? The Canaanites were cursed by God, due to the fact that they didn’t respect authority. Thus, they were cursed into slavery for many generations. Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this.

Don’t blame the U.S. We saved [black Americans], fed them, clothed them, and paid them HANDSOMELY. To this day, they refuse to give God the credit for their blessings and want more from US.

You can make up your own version of history or you can do yourself a favor and learn the truth.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Jodie. Though, you might want to take your own advice.

"Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this."

It is years since I read the Bible, but I can't remember a single word in it actually condemning slavery let alone abolishing it. Perhaps I'm getting amnesia. Perhaps I'm getting senile, or perhaps Jodie is talking out of her arse.

I don't remember Jesus ever dealing with slaves in the bible.

"Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this. "

So all you southern baptists don't follow Jesus?

I've always suspected this.

Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this.

Not according to the Epistles, he didn't. Are you saying that Paul didn't follow Jesus?

Strange. Wasn't slavery the direct result of one particular papal bull?

Jesus put an end to the slavery

Are you sure? You mean the same Jesus who told slaves to obey their masters? Also, I don't think Jesus was around in 1865.

You can make up your own version of history

Oh yeah, what a deal. They got kidnapped from their homes, marched off in chains, stuffed in a ship's hold for months with barely any food or water and no sanitation. If they survived the trip they were forced to work for nothing every day for the rest of their lives while their owners gave them the cheapest, lowest quality food and clothing they could get away with.

And no, the slaves did not get paid. It only counts as payment if you give the money to the actual person and not to their "owner."

Hmm, if this man can point to a passage in the bible where Jesus ends slavery, then I will give him credit. However, I don't think he will be able to do that. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUCH PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE!

Of course, he could just make up his own passage, like he seems to be doing right here by making up his own history.
