[One commenter points out that a mere 60 years ago whites overtly discriminated against black Americans with segregation.]
I take it you are not a Bible reader? The Canaanites were cursed by God, due to the fact that they didn’t respect authority. Thus, they were cursed into slavery for many generations. Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this.
Don’t blame the U.S. We saved [black Americans], fed them, clothed them, and paid them HANDSOMELY. To this day, they refuse to give God the credit for their blessings and want more from US.
You can make up your own version of history or you can do yourself a favor and learn the truth.

"Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this."
It is years since I read the Bible, but I can't remember a single word in it actually condemning slavery let alone abolishing it. Perhaps I'm getting amnesia. Perhaps I'm getting senile, or perhaps Jodie is talking out of her arse.
"Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this. "
So all you southern baptists don't follow Jesus?
I've always suspected this.
Jesus put an end to the slavery, but those who don’t follow Jesus, don’t seem to know this.
Not according to the Epistles, he didn't. Are you saying that Paul didn't follow Jesus?
Jesus put an end to the slavery
Are you sure? You mean the same Jesus who told slaves to obey their masters? Also, I don't think Jesus was around in 1865.
You can make up your own version of history
You mean like you did?
Don’t blame the U.S. We saved [black Americans], fed them, clothed them, and paid them HANDSOMELY. To this day, they refuse to give God the credit for their blessings and want more from US.
"You're not slaves anymore! What more do you want?!"
Oh yeah, what a deal. They got kidnapped from their homes, marched off in chains, stuffed in a ship's hold for months with barely any food or water and no sanitation. If they survived the trip they were forced to work for nothing every day for the rest of their lives while their owners gave them the cheapest, lowest quality food and clothing they could get away with.
And no, the slaves did not get paid. It only counts as payment if you give the money to the actual person and not to their "owner."
Hmm, if this man can point to a passage in the bible where Jesus ends slavery, then I will give him credit. However, I don't think he will be able to do that. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUCH PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE!
Of course, he could just make up his own passage, like he seems to be doing right here by making up his own history.
"Don’t blame the U.S. We saved [black Americans]..."
SAVED FROM WHAT?
"...fed them, clothed them..."
CRAPPY FOOD & CLOTHES!
"...and paid them HANDSOMELY."
PAID THEM WITH WHAT?!...WHIP MARKS? BEATINGS? RAPE? CRAPPY LIVING CONDITIONS? CHAINS? OVERWORK? SLAVES DON'T GET PAID!
"...To this day, they refuse to give God the credit for their blessings and want more from US."
AFTER ALL THAT, WHY WOULD THEY?
@SpukiKitty
Spreading Christianity was one of the "moral" justifications for slavery, among all kinds of other heinous actions perpetrated against native people. The Europeans and Americans were kidnapping, murdering, stealing and otherwise abusing and exploiting people, but it was all OK because they were doing it for Jesus so the "savages" wouldn't go to Hell.
"You can make up your own version of history or you can do yourself a favor and learn the truth."
"Physician, heal thyself." - Jesus of Nazareth (Luke 4:23)
Racist fucking lunatic. You LIE! Have you ever even cracked a history book in your life? Read the accounts? Seen the PICTURES?
On the other hand, historical revisionism is awful and retarded , but at least it's straightforward to refute.
That last sentence HAS to be the most ironic sentence ever written.
I find it unbelievable that someone is actually reviving the Curse of Ham slavery-justifying argument from the nineteenth century.
And also: "Jesus put an end to the slavery". Jesus' death: 33 AD. Slavery abolished in the United States: 1865 AD.
Of course, the real issue of the whole thing, economic exploitation, is not even mentioned.
While the Bible has some tales about slaves being freed, it doesn't ever speak against slavery or abolish it as a societal norm.
"Don’t blame the U.S. We saved [black Americans], fed them, clothed them, and paid them HANDSOMELY. To this day, they refuse to give God the credit for their blessings and want more from US."
Regardless of the lies in your statement, can you explain why, if "we" saved black Americans, you are angry that they refuse to "give God the credit?"
We saved, fed them, clothed them, and paid them HANDSOMELY.
Well then, don't forget the great boat rides we gave them, real party cruises across the Atlantic. Oh the fun.

Dear Jodie, why don't you come over to my house, I have a few things that need to be done. I'll feed you, clothe you, and pay you HANDSOMELY. I'm sure you'll give God the credit for your blessings.
Then there's them Jews of Moses people, Egypt was feeding them, clothing them and educating them. But what did that ungrateful Moses do? What did Moses people do after they were freed? Your heroes are villians.
Give up this "slavery is ok under benevolent masters" shit you fundie idiots keep bringing up to justify the Bibles support for slavery. Enslaved isn't benevolant. The atrocities carried out by the slave traders and the owners are well documented, tip of the iceberg that they are.
Once again, an avowed Believer is utterly ignorant of the religion said Believer believes. I wonder if any of them realize that most of us atheists and agnostics arrived at our opinions because we actually read the Buybull, and other assorted religious works, which results in us being unable to legitimize the lies.
I take it you're not a Bible-reader.
(a) there's no indication in the Bible that the Canaanites were black. They were Semitic people inhabiting Israel before the Jews.
(b) Jesus said nothing at all about ending slavery. "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ." (Ephesians 6:5)
(c) Slaves weren't paid spit. If they were paid, they weren't slaves; they were employees.
(d) "We saved the blacks" is one of those "if it weren't for the Holocaust, the Jews wouldn't have gotten Israel back" arguments.
This kind of history revisionism makes me sick.
First of all, Jesus told slaves to obey their masters. He was completely pro-slave.
Next One of the reasons for the American Civil War was because America was slower than the rest of the world at ending slavery. By the time of the war slavery was already illegal in the UK and Europe.
Not to mention that despite slavery being illegal it was only recently that blacks were even given equality, let alone the resources to actually achieve true equality.
Jesus didn't end slavery. Jesus didn't address it. Paul, or someone writing as Paul, claiming to speak for Jesus (pure BS, of course) said that crap in Ephesians.
Jesus was a cool guy who would have hated your position. That said, he said nothing about slavery so your statement about His abolitionism is horsehockey.
All that other crap is "LYIN' FER JEEBUS! LYIN' FER TH' LAWWWD!"
Not to be confused with Yeshua aka "Jesus", a swarthy Socialist, Gnostic, Mystic, Healer, Social-Justice, Humanitarian, Quasi-Flowerkid, Hebrew-Heretic, Palestinian Jew.
Take your Fundy, Pseudo-YHWH Demiurge & his ways & shove it up yer caboose!

Thank you, Mr. Wonka!
[We saved [black Americans], fed them, clothed them, and paid them HANDSOMELY. ]
We also shipped them on disease infested boats, seperated them from their families, raped their women, sold their children, and forced them to work long hours in the heat. And when slavery was abolished we continued to beat them, rape them, lynch them (which consisted of more than just hangings), fasely imprison them, and force them into their own seperate part of town.
Even today black people are still beaten and killed for being black.
And I was once a bible reader. I don't recall Jesus abolishing slavery but he did tell slaves to obey their masters.
Take up the White Man's burden--
Send forth the best ye breed--
Go bind your sons to exile
To serve your captives' need;
To wait in heavy harness,
On fluttered folk and wild--
Your new-caught, sullen peoples,
Half-devil and half-child.
Confused?
