I don't think any of your "rights" should result in injury to others. Health care is not a right, neither is abortion - both do harm to another person.

I just thought it was fun that DieHappy quotes in his sig the mad King George, with whom the founders had so many issues.
\"I desire what is good. Therefore, everyone who does not agree with me is a traitor.\" George III
Words to be a tyrant by.

Dragon: The only reason I can figure, it's because the doctors outside of surgery don't wash their hands often enough. A hospital is a place with a concentrated amount of sickness, but I'd still rather not perform a do-it-yourself appendectomy or take out gallstones all by myself.
Aside from that, I have no problem with public health care. :)

If I had to guess why \"health care hurts people\" I think she meant that it costs money, that could be used another way.
I'm probably wrong about the above, but cut me some slack, this freak is retarded.

Chuck, I don't think she even knows what she meant- so you can't be expected to.
And yeah... maybe she means that more people with serious illness won't be able to get treated because the people with colds are taking up all the waiting room area?

The former ... well, I'd agree to an extent (financial injury), but I'm not convinced the harm outweighs the benefits. The latter, you'd have to convince me that the embryo has the same rights as a \"person\" - and (at least early in the term) I don't see any reason for that to be true.

WAIT A SECOND.
Rewind with me.
"Health care is not a right" because it "[does] harm to another person"?
Well, someone's going to have a lot of explaining to do when they get the bill for the blood vessel in my brain that just popped.

Health care obviously does harm to another person because everyone who's getting healthcare in a hospital is blocking up a bed someone else could be using!

If anyone would click on the link, it's explained there. Apparently making health care a right makes the health care provider your slave so you're injuring their rights.
Here's the full post in all its glory:
When you claim something is a right, then the provider of that right, if there is one, becomes beholdened to you. You have a right to pursue happiness. It's all on your shoulders. You have a right to life, I can't take it from you. But if you claim a right to health care, then I, as a health care provider, become your slave. If I am providing a service and can charge for it, then we both win because you choose the best health care option for you and I charge whatever the market will bear. If it becomes a right, then you have no barrier to making extraordinary claims on my time and my services and I have no recourse for proper renumeration. I'm stuck with whatever the will of the elected officials is as pay. That hurts me and my family.

Of course that's ignoring the fact that every health care worker has chosen that path and generally
wants
to help people.

So says the person who probably already has health care and never needs to worry about covering the costs of an operation and the like. Honestly, would it kill you to have some sympathy?
