Only an American can be so sociopathic. The European far-right have all the faults of Americans and none of the virtues of Europeans, so they are no more European than Herman Cain. This also applies in reverse; American liberals are more truly European than they are American. I don't know how anyone could get to the point where they think that an offer of help is a prelude to murder. Clearly no one who is culturally European could think such a thing.
And I am perfectly aware that I am committing the most egregious form of the New True Scotsman fallacy. Between this and the Republican party platform, I am convinced that nothing can stop the USA from becoming a fascist corporatocratic theocracy. Stopping this is akin to throwing a pebble in Niagara Falls. Americans will despise rationality long after I am dead. My great-grandparents, who moved to this country, are surely spinning in their graves.

The other side of the story:
The other night I was walking down the street and saw a taxi on the side of the road with the driver and a white guy trying to change a flat tire. I was tired of walking so walked up and offered to change the tire for them if I could get a free ride. They told me no, and with nothing else to do I decided to strike up a conversation with the white guy. He started freaking out screaming that he didn't have any change. He kept screaming until the taxi driver hailed another cab to get the guy out of there, then told me to get away from that guy because he's crazy. I tried to calm the guy down by putting my hand on his shoulder but he shoved me, then ran and jumped into the cab. After the cab left, the taxi driver and I looked at each other and said, "WTF was up with that guy?"

BTW, how the hell could you see if his nostrils flared or not? Were you standing there watching him after you pushed him away? Then again I doubt this story ever happened. Let racists on forums tell it they've all run into what same black guy or black woman (they invariably make them sound like some IRL version of "Bix Nood"). The stories don't vary much about the alleged black person, just the scenario and variations in the alleged bravey of the racist dork "protagonist" in the story.

Assuming there is any truth to this story it doesn't even really sound like the black guy was doing anything wrong. At no point did he describe anything that implied the black guy was mugging them. He doesn't claim the black guy took out a weapon, demanded money or hit him or anything. So how do we know he was really trying to mug anyone? And if he was trying to mug people why was Mr. "Hindoo" able to calmly take him aside? Muggers don't usually shift their attention to conversing with another bystander trying to talk them down, they'd just attack or kill such a person.
I suspect this racist is paranoid that all black people are out to get him/mean him harm and he became delusional that he was being "mugged" because the black guy mentioned something related to money. The Indian guy probably saw how crazy the bigot was getting and took the black guy aside to reassure him. The black guy may have touched the bigot's shoulder to ask "What the hell is your problem?" or "Are you alright?" and the bigot freaked out even more.
That sounds far more plausible even given the description Mr. "Tamer of Savages" gave since nothing in the story sounds like menacing behavior from the black guy. If the black guy was a mugger why the hell would the Indian guy stay with him? The Indian guy probably suggested to the white bigot to get another taxi so the Indian guy wouldn't have to deal with that moron any longer.
BTW, some "Tamer of Savages". He ran away! So much for being a "tamer"....

...ok, so a black guy tried to help you, you rejected his help, he tried to keep a couple of guys company by a broken taxi by talking with you, which you assumed was begging. Now, either you assume black people beg before they mug people, or he supposedly tried to mug you. Except by "mugging" it was something that involved just calling the guy over to the curb after hailing a cab for his passenger. So, what, no knife or gun or anything?
And even then, if he had a knife or a gun, you still would have run and let a guy who supposedly saved your life die?
