Yes, that is precisely what I am suggesting. Removal of an aether has opened up a Pandora's box of quack theories. Dark matter, dark energy, black holes, neutronium, strange matter, pulsars "rotating" at near light speed, expanding nothing (space), dark flows, etc.. etc.. etc..

An aether constrains theories to classical closed form physics, which is the only legitimate kind of physics, and the only kind of physics that has applicability to improving the human condition.

As the article says, the Higgs field is QM's own flavor of an aether. The difference being that the Higgs field allows the high priests of science to continue on with their quackery.
