Confusion reigns supreme.

“Will they pander to the gangbangers of the world and have sales of Trayvon Martin style hoodies???”
Well, that went racist real fast..
7/24/2012 2:54:56 PM
@ The Riddler - Not only did it get racist fast, it went the lowest possible route to get there.

"What groups will they advertise/pander to next? Will they pander to the gang bangers of the world, and have sales on Trayvon Martin style hoodies???"
They already sell 'Travyon Martin style hoodies.' It's called a regular fucking hoodie. It's a functional piece of clothing that keeps you warm in the cold. Who would have thought!!! Also, since when was Trayvon Martin in a gang? Just because he was a black kid with a hoodie? Come on.
"Will they pander to the drug addicts, or the hoarders next?"
I don't know about hoarders, but 'they' already pander to drug addicts. Coffee, alcohol and cigarettes are all legal drugs and despite all the anti-smoking activists that exist these days, the tobacco lobby still makes tons of money.
"Gay activists tell us that it’s “hetero-normative” to have adds which show moms and dads and kids, because that sets a standard which hurts the self esteem of those who don’t fit in."
That's almost correct. It's heteronormative that to ONLY show that type of family, which sends the message that is the only acceptable type and all others are weird or abnormal. Kids feel they don't fit in when they think they are the only one with gay parents, with a single parent, etc. If they are shown that other types of families exist it removes this stigma. I don't want to destroy all ads portraying heterosexual couples, but some diversity would be nice.
"Retailers want to make a political statement with all of this."
No, retailers want 'the pink dollar.' Many companies (especially cigarette companies! ooh, pandering to the gays and the drug addicts at the same time!) have started targeting the LGBT market because they realized we are a large segment of the population, and we have money, which they want.

Capitalism, learn you some.
Oh, wait... Free Republic. That site should come with a "Here There Be Monsters" warning.
7/24/2012 4:20:36 PM
> Same-sex greeting cards??? Really???? What groups will they advertise/pander to next? [...] Retailers want to make a political statement with all of this.
Guess you missed the point.
The point of "advertising" or "pandering" is to make money.
Do you deny this? Do you hate free market? Do you hate America?
[/kinda meaningful sarcasm]

Oooh, bring on the Pagan greeting cards! :D

"Same-sex greeting cards??? Really????"
Greeting cards are not animate and have no sexual preferences. Quit being so damn paranoid.

Pretty sure they sell communion, baptism, and...oh hey, Christmas cards. Pandering?
7/24/2012 8:37:43 PM
Maybe my mind is in the gutter but am I the only one who saw the word "Gang Banger" and initially though of the other definition of that word? I would totally but one of those cards just to see my wife's reaction.
7/24/2012 10:30:01 PM
Last I checked, hoodies don't come in that many styles.
7/24/2012 10:52:09 PM
So you're really upset over same-sex greeting cards? I'm surprised they haven't come out sooner.
I understand that homophobes are upset at anything which normalizes homosexuality, but they need to work out for themselves why they're so upset at things which don't affect their lives in any way.
BTW, I'm not religious but I don't get upset when I see religious greeting cards.

"... Retailers want to make a political statement with all of this."
No, you naive simpleton, they want to make money with all this by reaching out to new customer bases. Why do you freepers hate America and free enterprise so much?
7/25/2012 6:45:19 AM
OOOOOOHHHHHH!!! SCARY "TRAYVON MARTIN - STYLE HOODIE" which is just a plain old hoody! You've seen one hoody, you've seen them all!
OOOOHH! A WHITE GUY! IN A HOODY....IN 1964!
(screencap from that weird 'Mixed Up Zombies' movie. That's Ray Dennis Steckler, Director & 'star' in that cheesefest!)
The point is, hoodies aren't new, they're not "gangsta"-exclusive, Martin was just a regular kid getting some Skittles & Iced Tea & YOU, 'Dildo of San Diego', are a vat of slime!
7/25/2012 9:29:41 AM
Butthurt over greeting cards, what's next?
7/25/2012 6:00:39 PM
This is excellent, I must applaud you. You have found a way to offend nearly every single person in the entire country. You are an artist.
7/26/2012 1:36:40 AM
Trayvon Martin, wasn't he the child who was shot to death for the crime of walking while black?
Retailers want to make money, that is all.
As a married woman who hasn't been able to have kids, it's a bit irritating sometimes that a "family" is always seen as a man and a woman, a boy and a girl.
7/26/2012 2:37:50 AM
Here are some news you might not have heard yet: In the United States of America any company is person. So... STFU!

Metallic Space Dragon
Oh, fuck you!
You guys have all sorts of greeting cards tailored to every occasion. Ever looked at how many religious cards exist? But give us gay people some cards and you fundy shitheads are all up in arms about it.
Not everyone is like you, nor do they have to be. Get over it.
Mixing in racism with your homophobia, too. Stay classy, Dilbert San Diego. [/sarcasm]
7/26/2012 12:03:19 PM
Because a kid out to buy skittles shot by a gun nut stalker is a gang banger.
7/29/2012 7:40:15 PM
Fundies Make Me Sick
I just wanna stay, fuck you for the Trayvon Martin comment, you racist, homophobic dickbag.
