[Shortly before the news that 12 miners survived an explosion was shown to be false, when in reality only 1 had survived in critical condition]
I'm hoping that when they do speak at the news conference, they tell us they saw angels from God protecting them.....something that will make people (especially non-Christians) go, "Wow!" I don't need proof that this was a miracle from God....but it would be nice to hear something like that!

Or the fact that hazerdous gasses are one of the main reasons that are holding back rescue efforts. If people started talking about seeing angels I'd be thinking the gasses got to them.
Instead, I think people are gullible to that which they don't understand. That is why so many people thought that bright daytime Venus was god's spaceship recently, or Unusually southern "northern lights" where marks of god, or near death experiences are due to an oxygen starved brain.
If there were a god and he was the slight bit interested in my belief of him then he would make it plain to me personally, not thru the antics of all the crazy people around me seeing the Virgin mary in a cheese sandwich.
From later in the thread:
I just had a thought, and please correct me if I am way off. And this concept is incredibley cruel if true. We all know how the Media seems to dismiss Christianity, well they all new these people where praising the Lord and praying for the best for the miners. They where in a church, praying, seeking the Lord, and the news came in....."They are alive". They were praising the Lord and saying what an incredible miracle this was...only to come back and say "THey are all gone" . To me this seems like a media attack on Christianity. Maybe I am 100% wrong, but it is a possiblility. My heart and prayers go out to all that have suffered this horrific loss.- kvat3r

Wow. How paranoid can you get?

"Maybe"?
What apparently happened is that someone yelled "We found them!" and the newspapers (needing to rush to beat deadline) and networks (hoping to beat each other to the punch, accuracy be damned) assumed that meant they were found alive.
Then again, I know enough of the less loopy type to appreciate a strong belief. Has to be tempered with humility, though. It's in desparately short supply these days, it seems.
to Rime...
"That Mary Had a Child without knowing a Man's touch is a Leap of Faith. That she and Joseph never got it on is just plain stupid"
-Rufus, 13th Apostle, "Dogma"
I learned more about God and Faith from this Movie than anything else in my 25 years of life.
-My Two Bits
The wife of the lone survivor has repeatedly said that her husband's survival is a "miracle" and spoken of how deep his faith was... so does this mean that GOD wanted the others dead, or did they just not believe enough to warrant survival? Perhaps their families didn't pray hard enough?
It was just a tragic accident due to unknown (as of yet) circumstances and thankfully at least one person survived (through another as yet unknown set of circumstances)
Questioning - seriously, man, get your hands on "good omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Seriously.
And Rime - am I the only one having a Douglas Adams moment - that just about wraps it up for god!
Confused?
