And they’re trying to present themselves as these innocent little victims, helpless and hapless, being picked on across the fruited plain. And they’re not. They are bullies. They are intolerant, they are vicious, they are mean, and they are after people of faith. There’s no ‘live and let live’ with the bullies at Big Gay. They don’t know anything about tolerance. Tolerance is not in their vocabulary. They have no tolerance for those who support the institution of the natural family. None, zip, zero. They have no room in their so-called ‘diversity world’ for people who believe in natural marriage. They claim to be all about diversity, but there is no room in their world for anybody that believes in traditional moral values. They’re absolutely intolerant and they have no room, they’re anti-diversity. So I’m talking about this with regard specifically to Chick-fil-A. And I am pointing out specifically that the bullies at Big Gay are coming after Chick-fil-A. They’re trying to take them out, they’re trying to obliterate them, they’re trying to go Ahmadinejad on Chick-fil-A, they want them wiped off the face of the map.

If gays are bullies then they learned it from you bigoted bullies. Honestly, if you really DID start getting persecuted by gays (you're not, but I'm speaking hypothetically) I'd find it very difficult to sympathize. Yes, it'd be wrong for you to get bullied and I'd realize that but I'm not sure I could bring myself to actually care about your plight.
And yet, you don't seem to regard it right and proper for heterosexuals to regard homosexuality as acceptable...
The point needs to be remembered: To the sharp-right, tolerance, inclusion, and diversity are typically self-contradictory, simply because "acceptable" is regarded as nothing but a perfect synonym of "normative". I guess they don't trust anyone who isn't a perfect mirror of them, because they can't perfectly predict them?
"Whaaaaaa! You don't want to tolerate my intolerance. You are so intolerant!"
No one is "going after" Chick-fil-A (as far as I know). The CEO, Mr. Cathy exercised his rights to voice his bigoted opinions. We are simply exercising our rights by not giving our money to his company. If that's your idea of "going after" something, then your persecution complex is much larger than I had originally thought.
So you - who have ruled the playground for thousands of years - with your own 'Conform or DIE!' bullying tactics - now do so no more, as you're now 'bullied' by equal rights legislation. So you're reduced to spitting your dummy out of your pram, and having a tammy-huff, because you're no longer the bullies? Deal with it.
And grow up Bryan, you big baby.
Yes, because we know people of faith have never boycotted any company that was pro-gay rights. We also know that the righteous Christian fundies have never attacked, killed, or called for violence and death against gay people. They have such great traditional moral values in their bible, like slavery, sexism, marriage between one man and several women, and killing anyone who doesn't believe in the same things you do.
Seeing as how you yourself and your organization(s) promote the boycotting and banning of any organization that is pro-gay, Fischer, you're argument is completely, utterly and entirely unworthy of consideration.
Anyone notice the irony of Mr. Fishy's comparing LGBT activists to Mahmoud "Iran has no Gays...because we kill them" Ahmadinejad?
I get a kick out of the name "Big Gay"...Sounds like a big box store or fast food joint run by gay guys & gals.
Or a neat nickname for big burly Thebian guys. (Thebian is my term for a gay male).
I was wondering when Chick-Fil-A would get a mention here.
Dan Cathy has a right to his bigoted opinion, I also have a right to boycott his business and call him a bigot.
It, however, is not just his mere opinion, Chick-Fil-A has been known to donate to groups that are blatantly anti-Gay. Groups that want want to affect legislation to that end. And you know why they do it, because they think everyone has to be Christian heterosexuals just like them.
Now some fundies are getting a taste of what it is like to be a hated group.
Good!
I'm not going to cry any tears for Dan Cathy.
"And they’re trying to present themselves as these innocent little victims, helpless and hapless, being picked on across the fruited plain. And they’re not. They are bullies. They are intolerant, they are vicious, they are mean, and they are after people of faith."
Yes because they beat christians up and tie them to fences at night.
The AFA goes around and boycotts any company that even hints at being gay-friendly, yet when we do it to companies that are anti-gay we're "the bullies at Big Gay." Nice double standard there.
May Chick-fil-A never come to Iowa, my state.
Like Rush, this idiot isn't even worth listing anymore. We all know he's a shrieking homophobe.
Bryan might want to go out and suck some dick to calm himself down.
They’re trying to present themselves as these innocent little victims, helpless and hapless, being picked on across the fruited plain. And they’re not. They are bullies. They are intolerant, they are vicious, they are mean."
And my irony meter just broke. Bryan Fischer, you owe me a new meter.
First, Big Pharma, and now Big Gay? Wasn't "gay agenda" enough for you people? Where's it going to end, exactly? Big Logic? Big Science?
...Big Words?
"They have no tolerance for those who support the institution of the natural family."
Kind of like women in the 1920's who had no tolerance for men who considered them second-class citizens.
Kind of like blacks in the 1960's who had no tolerance for being labeled "separate but equal".
In a nutshell, Bryan, you homophobic fuck, gays don't have tolerance for "natural marriage" because it is a bigoted, exclusive worldview.
I support Dan Cathy's right to spew all the bigoted nonsense he believes. I also support my own right to never eat at Chik-Fil-A again. That's not intolerance, that's the First Fucking Amendment.
Bryan, you work for the American Family Association, correct? Please tell me, how many boycotts have the AFA called for in the last 10 years? The AFA spent literally years urging its followers to boycott the Disney Corporation simply because it granted insurance benefits for the same-sex partners of its employees! How is this one bit different from people boycotting Chick-fil-A because of its financial support of political movements that seek to deny GLBT people their civil rights and legal protections?
Really, Bryan. please tell me the difference. Because I can't see any.
"the bullies at Big Gay"
You mean Big Gay Al?
I'm straight as an arrow and I'm thinking of boycotting Chik-Fil-A. And I like their food! I just like equality a little bit more.
Are the people at Hobby Lobby homophobic jerks too? If so, I can take my business to the Michael's next door.
How dare they be outraged at people who hate them, and boycott those who try to hurt them? No-one's calling for (legally, at least) Chick-fil-A to be shut down, they're just boycotting them for being pricks.
How many people like this would boycott stores that come out as in favour of gay marriage?
They have no tolerance for those who support the institution of the natural family.
You can say or believe anything you like, but you can't stop others from criticizing you for it. If you don't want to be criticized, shut up. If you want to offer your opinion, be prepared for people to disagree with you.
To be fair, the idea of using law to force Chick-fil-a (or whatever it is called) out of cities/etc just because of their stance on this issue would be... both wrong and unconstitutional. And some have called for that, including mayors.
But, at the same time, individuals deciding to boycott the place? Perfectly fine, that is how the system works, supporting individual freedom.
That was one of the whole points behind the US Constitution in the first place. A balance, a certain guaranteed level of rights for everyone so that the different factions wouldn't use government to destroy/persecute each other. How well that worked though... eh.
Because kissing somebody outside a venue is "going Ahmadinejad" on it...
If any group has gone Ahmadinejad on society, it's the Republican party. I have said that the U.S. is the Iran of the West; this is why.
Ah Bryan Fischer, fainting on his Victorian day bed, his hand against his flushed cheek, ever the victim of Big Gay. So sad that he must play the victim in order to feel better about his sad, meaningless life of servitude to the idiots that can't see bigotry though their rose colored glasses of dogma. Poor Bryan.
Too easy to turn this around and make it about Christians, so I won't. I'm sure someone else already has.
I will say, though, that it's funny to see the response of Christians when they're the ones being boycotted for a change. Especially when it's the head of the AFA, well-known for its many boycotts of corporate America for becoming gay-friendly, including an unsuccessful 9-year-long boycott of Pepsico.
Wow, that is one shiny mirror! I almost went blind looking at it.
They do have tolerance, for everyone who IS 'live and let live'. But for the ones who want to stop them from getting married, the true anti-diversity crowd, they have no tolerance, no.
Funny... in the first part, I thought Bryan was talking about shitheads like himself for a second.
"And they’re trying to present themselves as these innocent little victims, helpless and hapless, being picked on across the fruited plain. And they’re not. They are bullies. They are intolerant, they are vicious, they are mean, and they are after people not of faith. There’s no live and let live’ with the bullies of religious fundamentalism. They don’t know anything about tolerance. Tolerance is not in their vocabulary. They have no tolerance for those who support the institution of natural freedoms. None, zip, zero. They have no room in their so-called moral world’ for people who believe in same-sex marriage. They claim to be all about morality, but there is no room in their world for anybody that believes in actual moral values. They’re absolutely intolerant and they have no room, they’re anti-freedom."
Fixed.
a) Of course gay rights activists don't like people who attack them. What pretzel logic are you trying to use?
b) No one is trying to prevent you from having your "natural family". You're the ones trying to interfere with other people's families.
Chick-fil-A
Who gives a fuck about some fast-food place that will just chick-fil-a your butt with tons of lard and make you obese?
Doesn't anybody cook by themselves anymore? Have unhealthy fat-shops become a "traditional American value"?
Go home, cook your own meal, eat something healthy.
Let the conservatives and homophobes go chick-fil-a their guts with tons of grease and lard, sugar, cream, fat, fat, fat. Let them drive there in their SUV's so they sure as hell don't move a muscle.
Healthy food and exercise have become un-American, or so it would seem.
Let Chick-fil-A rot in its own fat.
I'll have an apple please. No, not a deep fried apple, just an apple, thank you.
When I hear of Teenagers being thrown out of their houses because they are "normal" or being tied to a fence, beaten, bloody and being left for dead for being "traditional" or parents burying their teenagers after they committed suicide because they were bullied for being "heterosexuals from Natural families" then maybe you can call your ilk victims. Until that time, however, shut the fuck up and stop denigrating actual victims, because it's just fucking pathetic and evil.
Ahh, yes, the old "Pointing out MY hate, makes you a hater. Pointing out MY bigoted views makes you a bigot." And my personal favorite,"Pointing out MY racism makes you a racist".
Oh please! Why don't you whine just a little more? Intolerant? Do I need to bring up the dozens of boycotts that your AFA has started in recent years? Last night on Fox News they were talking about how this was an "attack" on Chick-Fil-A by liberals & gays, yet they refuse to mention how Christians are ready to boycott businesses at a moment's notice for just about any reason.
No, the huge corporation with an anti-civil rights stance is not the victim here. Just no. Also, nobody bitches when you idiots hold your hundreds of ineffectual boycotts a year.
You score no points for the term "Big Gay" even if the mental imagery made me laugh.
Look, I support equality for all, and if I want a chicken sandwich, I'm going to go to Nando's. Not particularly for a protest - but because it tastes better . And I am lucky enough to live within a few miles of every Nando's in the United States. There's a Chick-fil-A back on campus; haven't gone to it before and I don't intend to when I return. I'll just grill up my own chicken and soak it in peri-peri, thanks.
Does anyone really take this guy seriously? First of all, when has Ahmadinejad really gone Ahmadinejad on anyone? It is a stupid use of turning a noun into a verb.
I am pretty sure the gays don't want to ban traditional marriage by the way.
@Chatvert
if I want a chicken sandwich, I'm going to go to Nando's.
Nando's, Chick-fil-a, FCK, etc.
Whatever happened to "my mom makes the best chicken sandwich"?
Why go out and spend too much money on an unhealthy product made by a billion dollar multi? That crap's full of trans fats, chemicals, enhancers, etc., etc.
Why argue about which billion dollar multi makes "the best"? Mom makes the best! At least she did back when mothers still cooked.
What has America come to? I think it's totally disgusting. No wonder there are so many lard asses running around.
As a customer I have the right to chose where I by my products. My decision is based on many factors, quality, price, or political stance of the company I am buying from.
As a vegan I never ate at Chick Fil A anyway - I try to obliterate the whole fast food industry!
@Checkmate: Hey now. Culturally chicken is not a big part of my culinary makeup. My mom has never made a chicken sandwich but she makes eggcellent hamburgers from scratch. I will also have you know that my mom make the best boliche around and I will cheerfully fight anyone who says otherwise. And she's a mean hand at making sushi rice too.
Also:
a) Nando's is a South African chain and has only just come to the States a few years ago
b) It's grilled, not fried unlike CFA and KFC and whatnot, with no preservatives, MSG, flavoring or coloring agents, and they never use frozen chicken
c) If you are dissing Nando's we may have to fight
d) CFA is honestly not that good
e) I live at college most of the time so I can't bloody well request a Homemade Food Delivery from home three hours away
f) Thanks for assuming that all Americans only eat fast food 24/7. For me it is a special treat to go to Nando's and I practically refuse to eat any other fast food because it just tastes awful.
g) Thank you for trolling.
"Big Gay" is a thing now? Really? There's money to be made just from being gay?
Why do I know so many poor gay people then?
Edit: Oh, apparently it is. It's an ice cream parlor in New York.
Mr. Fischer, I try to stay civil when people act like ugly, destructive bigots. Turn the other cheek and whatnot.
But you're too wrong for me to even pretend to be civil.
I will end with simply: Fuck. You.
@Anon-e-moose
So you're reduced to spitting your dummy out of your pram, and having a tammy-huff,
I admit to being an ignorant American, so bear with me. I know what a pram is (a baby stroller), and I'm assuming a "tammy-huff" is a tantrum?
But what the heck is "spitting your dummy?"
There's plenty of "live and let live" with the "Big Gay," Brian. Chick-fil-A's people are perfectly free to choose to be bigots - no one is arguing it. Heck, I'll go one step further and nicen it up to "disapprove of homosexuals." It's just that in response to the company's stance, the "Big Gay" is choosing to not spend their money there.
And really, you should welcome this! If nothing else, since (supposedly) the vast majority of Americans hate gays, the fact that Chick-fil-A loses absolutely zero dollars from this boycott should more than prove your position, right?
ANON-E-MOOSE'S POST "TRANSLATED" IN "AMERICAN ENGLISH" FROM THE ORIGINAL "UK ENGLISH":
"So you're reduced to spitting your pacifier out of your baby stroller, and having a big fat temper-tantrum"
Let's say hi to our ol' pal, BIG GAY!

"Howdy! I'm Big Gay! I'm big & I'm gay. Let's say we go out for some brewskis followed by WWE-style nude wresting at my place! C'mon! It'll be a BLAST! By the way, Bryan Fisher is a douchenozzle!"
@Spuki and Filin:
Thanks :)
"None, zip, zero."
...but enough about the Repubicans' chances of getting to the White House in the foreseeable future, Mr. Fischite. Here's your order:
image
And would sir like a side order of Crow with your chicken? Also for dessert, a universe-sized piece of Humble Pie...?! [/Schadenfreude ] >:D
@SpukiKitty
Methinks Bryan here could do with an 'accidental' visit to the Blue Oyster Bar, with all the 'Tom of Finland'-esque Leathermen therein...! [/"Police Academy"] X3
@Filin De Blanc, SpukiKitty
Ah, you were in b4 me, re. translations. Soon, you'll be making Babel Fish or Universal Translators redundant! X3
...oh, and Everything's Better With Teh Kittehs. =^_^= :3
Chick-fil-a's sandwiches are weird. There's just chicken and a pickle. No lettuce or cheese or anything. Also, one pickle? Who just puts one pickle on a sandwich? Especially when the rest of the sandwich consists of bread and dry, gristly chicken.
I don't recall gay people ever bullying straight people. Homophobes, on the other hand... Well, if somebody punched you in the face and you punched them back, would that be bullying too?
The big deal about Chick-fil-A is not their stance on gay marriage, but that a for-profit organization is using money for political/religious purposes--in this case, giving money to organizations that use the said money to "convince" judges and politicians to ban gay marriage.
> They’re trying to go Ahmadinejad on Chick-fil-A, they want them wiped off the face of the map.
Ironically, Ahmadinejad would agree with Chick-fil-A’s stance on gay marriage. Talk about flawed analogies.
Confused?
