[Hey dad, what do you think of the possibility of Noah and his son's flying pterosaurs (the winged flying dinosaurs), wouldn't that help to explain some things?]
Why not? The natives have a legend about a thunderbird that sounds a lot like one of those, no?

"Do I really have to Honor this retard?"
Native Americans(I'm assuming that's what he meant) we referring to Eagles,Condors,Stormfronts, and Possibly extinct Teratorns. These Condor relatives had wingspans of 12-20 feet.

Why not? Well, to start with, it seems unlikely even the largest pterosaurs would be much good as flying mounts. Quetzalcoatlus, a monster with a wingspan in the 12m range, may have weighed in at 150-200 kg - putting a 70kg Noah on it would be a very significant increase of weight. It seems highly unlikely the animal could get airborne with that extra weight.
Oh, and pterosaurs weren't dinosaurs.
Azdharchids like Quetzalcoatlus ranged from 1 kg to 400-500 kgs.Much of the flight muscle mass was concentrated in the arms for an efficient wingloading that modern birds today are incapable of doing. So "theoretically", a single 70-80 kg person could ride the largest Azdharchids.
You are correct and Unfortunately, the Fundies are >>>Shudder<<< correct as well. These are NOT Dinosaurs, but they ARE Lizards.Namely, close Lizard relatives known as Prolacertiforms.

Sure that 400-500 figure isn't supposed to be pounds rather than kgs? I did some googling on weight estimates for Quetzy, and they generally keep below 250kg, some so low as 50kg (which seems difficult to believe).
Furthermore, all sources I can find online in a hurry indicate that prolacertiforms are archosauromorphs (ie. closer to dinosaurs than to lizards), but not archosaurs (ie. they split off before the dinosaur and crocodile lineages parted). Pterosaurs are generally considered archosaurs (on the dinosaur branch).
Yeah, and what about that aztec legend that the gods needed blood to be spilled to keep them alive, or the sun would die?
Obviously, legends are always based in reality.
To TLC
No, the 400-500 kgs (800-1,200lbs)figure is the correct one for the Largest 18 meter (60 foot) wingspanned Azdharchids. Most calculations of pterosaurs use birds as a template.Pterosaurs are very different from birds in their skeletal make-up.
As for Prolacertiforms being archisaurimorphs, That's news to me.
I got Mass estimates from Gregory S. Paul's Dinosaurs of the Air.
Try David Peter's website on Pterosaurs.

Crap. Anyone got a bandaid?
dad isn't just talking about any old natives - he's talking about THE natives. And if THE natives say that there were thunderbirds, then there damn well were thunderbirds, although they often shortened their title to "T-Birds," applied large amounts of hair spray, and often burst into musical numbers.
Ooh Child you are a riot! lol
TLC, of course it's an acknowledgement of disagreement,Both persons use different scanning methods for the same stone slab.To date, I don't know of anyone who has used computer scanning like David Peters except Peters himself.

What would be explained?
A Thunderbird that sounds like a pterosaur? Cool.
I knew a guy who had a Corvette that sounded like a Ford, but it had a Lincoln engine in it.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
