Jews are as likely to poison your food to cause a miscarriage as the next person. And there aren't all that many malicious people who'd do that. Make of that as you will.
The reason medieval folk thought their wells were poisoned by jews was simply because when everyone else was dying of plague, Jews got off fairly lightly. This is because they didn't share the same superstitions as most christians and had better hygiene regulations, which made all the difference in preventing plagues. Christians mistook their own unsanitary practices as the works of jews.

I don't know what to say. Why is America the place where medieval superstition still lives? I simply cannot enjoy my country with the knowledge that at any moment, the reactionaries more vile than even Franco could take over, and much of the public would welcome them with open arms.

Notice the tactic of posing it as a question, "Have Jews been poisoning us?" thus introducing a little note of suspicion. The question is never answered, importantly, so it's left almost like an "open question".
Certain news networks are guilty of the same thing. They'll have a graphic that says something like, "Are atheists too militant?" meaning, "we think atheists are militant". Not being brave enough to state this, they just insinuate it with a rhetorical question. It's a cowardly tactic.
