If FDR and Abe Lincoln never declared Martial Law when the USA was attacked, and held elections during the subsequent conflict, I can't see any of that happening. LBJ had plenty of urban unrest to cope with. No martial law. No delayed election. Even Nixon never used Vietnam protests as an excuse to suspend the Constitution.

Um, yeah sure. So exactly what happens when it's found that he wasn't actually assassinated? It's not like he could just say, "I was dead, but I got better." And it's not like he could just say, "OK, martial law has been declared because people thought I was assassinated, but I wasn't assassinated and will remain president for life under martial law."
This is probably one of the worst thought out conspiracy theories ever. It's also just another in a long line of "they're going to declare martial law" conspiracy theories going back to at least Clinton.
