What is wrong with the standard, common definition of words? Why do you people always have to redefine things with the most bizarre definitions that aren't even remotely close to what the word actually means?

Or maybe the reason you hear about so many Christians raping people (especially children) is because Christians enjoy abusing their power over people, just like they have ever since its inception. Why do you think they fight so hard to keep the statute of limitations (or even lowering it) in place regarding child molestation, on top of threatening their victims into silence? Or, it could be that the church requires its priests to refrain from every sort of sexual pleasure whatsoever. Perhaps if the church would allow priests to get married and have normal sex lives, they wouldn't have all this problem with pedophiles among their clergy.

More seriously, his proposal that these were 'immature' people is profoundly deceptive. Catholics of both genders and all sexual preferences were raised in sexual ignorance, and as a result could fairly be described as 'immature'.
Most young Catholics were brought up with Catholicism's choice of 'marriage or the Church'. Many young gays therefore did enter the Catholic Church's priesthood and convents. My compassion goes out to them.
Rather than trying to avoid gay culture, most such individuals had no idea it even existed.
As has already been said, gay does not equal pedophile.

Once upon a time, it was fairly common for gay men to become priests because it stopped people from asking questions about why they weren't dating women or getting married.

And there have been plenty of girls raped by priests, as well.

Has nothing to do at all with being gay. The reason why you hear about some of those priests raping kids on the news is because they have a bunch of other issues. You can be gay and NOT be so fucked up in the head that you are willing to attack children. Homosexuality does not equal Pedophilia. They are both very different things.

90% of peadophiles target male children. it is not a gay thing. a paedophile could not even be considered gay or straight. they are not sexually attraceted to the gender of the child, they are sexually attracted to the innocence of the child. it is purely about power and control.

paedophiles become priests (not the fault of the church [the COVERUPS, however are.]) because a priest is put in a position of power and authority over their targets. it is the same reason why some become schoolteachers, and some become team coaches. if a teacher lives by himself and has no girlfreind or boyfreind you should be much more worried than if a teacher is flamboyantly gay and frequents the local gay bars.
