Lastly, for these libs to say "Jesus specifically told us to feed the poor"....LOL LOL LOL
When he was talking to Peter regarding "feed my sheep" he was referring to a spiritual feeding through the Blessed Word of God. I'm so sick of the ignorants taking God's word out of context. Sure, we're supposed to "feed the poor if they're hungry"....how many of you have offered to buy a homeless person a meal lately and all they do is look at you funny since what they really want is your cash for other things?

The Bible should always be interpreted literally, except when it shouldn't.

There is nothing more unchristian than a christian.

Remember the one where jesus said, "Sell all your shit and give the money to the poor - even if they don't need it"?

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

Doesn't look too ambiguous to me.

Another from the school of thought that loving thy neighbour doesn't actually mandate helping them in any way whatsoever.

"how many of you have offered to buy a homeless person a meal lately and all they do is look at you funny since what they really want is your cash for other things?"

Hmm... never happened to me. Then again, I've been homeless so I know just how unlikely a homeless person would be to turn down a fucking meal...

In other words... You're a lying little shit.

Yeah, and that camel and needle thing is just a metaphor, innit.

Given the way they rip verses out of context to justify their Rapture, I'm not sure I can stand the blast from the irony meters.

Um, back when I was a Christian, I did this occasionally. "Can I have some money to get something to eat," they'd say, and wanting to help but not wanting to buy them booze, I'd reply, "well, there's a Jimmy John's right here, how about I buy you a sandwich?"

I'll grant you I only did this a few times, but no one ever turned down the sandwich.

I suspect Florian hasn't ever actually tried this.

These cheap, morally bankrupt sons of bitches will try any sort of word games to get out of being a decent human being.
Jesus meant 'feed 'em scripture'. Sure he did.

Right.

You interpret the Bible literally, so that when it says "Feed the poor," you know it actually means "proselytize the poor."

Whiskey tango foxtrot, over.

That whole deal with the bread and the fishes, wasn't that about feeding people?

8/14/2012 4:55:14 AM

Filin De Blanc

"That whole deal with the bread and the fishes, wasn't that about feeding people?"

No, see, what actually happened in that story is that Jesus offered to feed lots of people using miracles, but they were all a bunch of useless drunks who were entirely to blame for their own poverty, so Jesus ate all the bread and fishes himself before jumping in his Hummer and running over a few endangered animals on his way to the Republican National Convention.

Fundies don't interpret the Bible literally. They interpret it however they want, whenever they want. It's quite handy.

What about what Jesus said about selling everything you own and giving that money to the poor? Jesus wanted you to give you cash to the poor as well.

But why should I even expect a rapturite to understand their own holy book or even care about those less fortunate?

8/14/2012 5:38:11 AM

Mister Spak

For these rapture retard cons to "LOL LOL LOL" at what Jesus told them to do -

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life

These Christians don't actually want to help the poor, less fortunate, and homeless?

Surprise, surprise. I couldn't have guessed... I am shocked. Knock me over with a feather.

They believe pushing their ideology and donating money to groups that want to push their views on other is more important than giving people food or care. That's a pretty insane excuse for not actually helping people while whining about how awful gay people are.

“If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it.”

Spoken like a true hypocritical, selfish bastard. I'm sure if Christ were to return to the world tomorrow he would begrudge giving a few pennies to a beggar.
"Give not alms to the poor" saith the Lord, "for they will only spend it on drugs." Another excerpt from the Republican Bible.
