Quote# 89234

An official from Missouri’s Republican Party on Monday defended Senate candidate Todd Akin after he suggested abortions should not be allowed in any case because victims of “legitimate” rape victims could not get pregnant.

GOP 4th Senate District Committeewoman Sharon Barnes told The New York Times “that abortion is never an option.”

In an interview with KTVI-TV over the weekend, Akin had said that “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” referring to pregnancy after so-called “legitimate rape.”

Barnes “echoed Mr. Akin’s statement that very few rapes resulted in pregnancy,” according to the Times, and she added that “at that point, if God has chosen to bless this person with a life, you don’t kill it.”

“That’s more what I believe he was trying to state,” she insisted. “He just phrased it badly.”

During an interview with Akin on Monday, Fox News host Mike Huckabee noted that “forcible rapes” had created some “extraordinary people.”

“Ethel Waters, for example, was the result of a forcible rape,” Huckabee pointed out. “I used to work for James Robison back in the 1970s, he leads a large Christian organization. He, himself, was the result of a forcible rape.”

“And so I know it happens, and yet even from those horrible, horrible tragedies of rape, which are inexcusable and indefensible, life has come and sometimes, you know, those people are able to do extraordinary things.”

"abortion is never an option"

It's legal, so it most certainly IS an option, "legitimate" rape or otherwise. And even if you fuckers get your way and manage to make it illegal (FSM help us), it will STILL be an option, just a much less safe option.

Why don't these people understand that outlawing abortion won't make it go away? If they are so very "pro-life" (LMFAO), they would be FOR abortion, because the ones done in the back alley will result in many more deaths than the ones performed in a medical facility by a qualified doctor.

I actually am writing (or at least trying to write) a story kind of like that. Except it's not so much an invasion. But it does involve aliens coming to Earth and then being like "Humans are fucking ridiculous". Though I am paraphrasing. XD

If there really was a kind, benevolent God, he'd already have raptured these vile asshats just to get them away from the rest of us.

Fundies, this is why people hate you; this is why they think you are a bunch of morons, why they think your god is vile.

There is no other civilized country I know of where there are being enacted more laws to make womens life more miserable than here in the US.

Why are these people allowed to get away with twisting English into something that is a deliberate attempt at obfuscation.

There is no such thing as "legitimate rape". No crime is legitimate, by definition it is illegal, or illigitimate, if you will.

Does Barnes supply backup for the contention that "... very few rapes resulted in pregnancy,..” How does she know this? Perhaps she has pulled it out of her fundamentalist fundament?

As to "... if God has chosen to bless this person with a life...", this is all but calling God a rapist. Isn't this somehow a tad blasphemous?

As for "...'Ethel Waters, for example, was the result of a forcible rape,' Huckabee pointed out..." Is there any kind of rape that is not forcible? Or is Huckabee deficient in his capacity to handle the English language? Or is he just trying to convince the less well educated that words mean other than the dictionary definition?

Yeah, I'm less and less thinking Romney will get any non-tea party women votes this year. Which, for first time makes me feel sorry for Romney, 'coz he didn't do a damn thing wrong.

So, a woman is raped through no fault of her own, then the religious beliefs of a few demonstrably ignorant men (in a country founded on atheist principles)dictate that she is still not free to decide whether she continues her own pregnancy. My heart goes out to American women if these lunatics gain power.

Santorum also said that a woman getting pregnant from rape was a "gift from God." <puke!> I see they're not concerned with reaching out to female voters any more.

"I wish an amazing space alien invasion would happen....wiping out all tyrants, bigots & fundies while sparing the good & reasonable people.

That would make for a great story! Maybe I should write it!"

No it wouldn't and no you shouldn't.

Perhaps the tyrants, yes, but the bigots and fundies are funny... as long as nobody ever takes them seriously.

Holy shit, they can’t even keep their own BS spinning straight. Or do these idiots think there is a difference between “legitimate rape” (Akin), “rape” (Barnes) and “forcible rape” (Huckabee)?

I am feeling dirty by just typing this…

Beautiful. Just beautiful. Couldn't have put it better myself. Argument Annihilation at it's finest. (*wipes tear from eye*)

Especially so the latter, yep, satire is alive and well; certainly immediate, in these internet times. Doug Piranha is well pleased. The macromeisters have done their job well via their shoops of Todd Akin (especially Antoine Dodson)

Todd Akin. You. Are. Fucked. As are you, Mitt the Shit, if you don't 'flip-flop' back to your original pro-Choice state, if you don't want to alienate half of your potential electorate.

...but then, of course, you'd risk alienating at least your fundie Teabagger, Neocunt, inbred redneck inferior subhuman trailer-trash core electorate. Not my - or Obama's - problem, pal; shouldn't have said - at our 2012 London Olympics - 'Britain isn't ready'. Seems you've got the whole 'How to Lose Friends and Alienate People' thing down pat, Mr. 'Gaffmeister' (now, why didn't First Lady Michelle Obama say the same, whilst she was here...?!) You're such a sad loss to the Diplomatic Corps, Mitt...! [/hyper-sarcasm]

I thought these people wanted LESS governmental intrusions into people's lives. But perhaps that only when it concerns money...

"if God has chosen to bless this person with a life, you don’t kill it.”
This also works as an argument against the death penalty.

All rapes are "forcible", stupid, that's what a rape IS! If you have consent to have sex with a person, you don't have to force yourself on the man or woman.

I bet you can find many more cases of rape-babies that have turned to crime, drug-abuse or suicide.
